Roll Call Examines Why The NH-GOP is Such a Mess

Roll Call has an article that will be making the rounds.  According to some people from around the Republican firmamanet…

The Granite State’s political infrastructure is “a mess,” complain out-of-state GOP consultants, and the state has become an increasingly difficult place to run campaigns.

The article goes on to observe some coincidences with problems in the national party, problems with turnover in the party structure itself, and in the control of the legislature.  It then quotes “Tea Party Critic” Fergus Cullen, which I suppose makes sense because he happens to be one of the GOP “experts” at standing idly by while New Hampshire turned Purple, or is it Blue?

Rand Paul’s Response to Obama’s State of The Union Address

Yes, I have always liked Rand Paul, in case you were curious, and he is my kind of Republican…so in keeping with that, here you go; Rand Paul’s response c/o the Tea Party (though not necessarily as the Tea Party) to El Presidente’ Obama’s State of Delusion the Union Speech.

Very good Right side political advice from two great bloggers

Any time that an Establishment rumpswab starts in on you about TEA Party candidates, remember the words of Prof. Jacobson:

If we had followed the establishment advice, we would not have Ted Cruz in office

Ted Cruz was the insurgent Tea Party – supported candidate running against the more establishment David Dewhurst.

If we followed the establishment advice to keep the seat safe, we would not have this rising star in office. The same is true for Marco Rubio and other next-generation Republican leaders.

While there were other races where it didn’t turn out as hoped, Ted Cruz demonstrates the importance of primaries

And remember, there were a number of Establishment Senate candidates that got whupped as well (example: WI’s Tommy Thompson – a “shoo-in” they said!).  Go to the link as it has a video of Ted Cruz talking about “Opportunity Conservatisim”.

And then this from Glen Reynolds, the blogfadda!

My advice to Tea Partiers: Take over your state GOP.

The true meaning of the Second Amendment – and it isn’t for sport or hunting.

Self-defense?  Yes, but not just for personal defense.  As I said here, I often run out of time in commenting on others’ posts.  Here, Kevin Williamson (whom we have interviewed in the past) talks about the real reason that the Second Amendment exists – the very uncomfortable reason, for Progressives and Big Government types that believe Government can only be for good, is that the Second Amendment is to be able to fight Tryanny – from without OR from within:

Brett, like practically every other person seeking to diminish our constitutional rights, either does not understand the purpose of the Second Amendment or refuses to address it, writing, “Gun advocates will be hard-pressed to explain why the average American citizen needs an assault weapon with a high-capacity magazine other than for recreational purposes.” The answer to this question is straightforward: The purpose of having citizens armed with paramilitary weapons is to allow them to engage in paramilitary actions. The Second Amendment is not about Bambi and burglars — whatever a well-regulated militia is, it is not a hunting party or a sport-clays club. It is remarkable to me that any educated person — let alone a Harvard Law graduate — believes that the second item on the Bill of Rights is a constitutional guarantee of enjoying a recreational activity.

There is no legitimate exception to the Second Amendment for military-style weapons, because military-style weapons are precisely what the Second Amendment guarantees our right to keep and bear. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to secure our ability to oppose enemies foreign and domestic, a guarantee against disorder and tyranny. Consider the words of Supreme Court justice Joseph Story — who was, it bears noting, appointed to the Court by the guy who wrote the Constitution:

EMail Doodlings – OK, putting this up a couple days late.

But actually, it turned out to be a bit prescient, as in two races here in NH in my mind (Frank Guinta & Bob Burns), what I warned about came true:

This may not sit well….

It seems to me that the full bore / hard core Libertarians (“HCLs”) on this list (which, after all is the REPUBLICAN Liberty Caucus and not the LIBERTARIAN Liberty Caucus – I could not resist) are turning out to be not Libertarians concerning this election but Nihilists.

Given that their more favored candidates absolutely bombed out during the primary and have gotten no traction since, you folks are all deciding to go home and pout. Given that the expected Home Run At Bat (perhaps expected given the tremendous gains that Libertarians had here in NH in 2010) has turned out in THIS election to be the Biggest Whiff since Casey in Mudville in actual candidate attraction to the general electorate (as opposed to other Libertarians), all I am hearing is a massive hissy fit. Instead of treating it as a double or triple in 2010 and knowing that sometimes that only singles or strikeouts happen, if you can’t get that four bagger, then the game is rigged, the umps stink, and the ball has lard on it. So effectively, you all are going to throw your votes away. Period. That is how you all are coming across (and that means you Jane – I saw some of the NHTEAParty tweets and retweets during the debates you sent and utterly cringed).

Blogline of the Day: The TEA Party

From Instapundit: They will crawl over broken glass to unseat Obama, whose actions over the past 4 years have consistently demonstrated that he neither loves this country nor its Constitution. Yep, that about sums it up!  As I have told many over these last couple of years (as that is how long the Prez campaign … Read more

Is Juan Valdez The Anti Christ?

Is Juan Valdez The Evil One?

(Repost: Originally posted Aug 17th, 2010 – What can I say, I like this one.)

I started drinking coffee at the age of six, not because my parents were irresponsible—they were in fact better people than I can ever hope to become—but because I spent an unusual amount of time in the company of coffee drinkers.  Both of my parents were recovering Alcoholics, (You are always recovering by the way) and both committed large portions of their lives to helping others cope with their disease.

Back in the 60’s and 70’s AA meetings had two very distinctive elements: cigarette smoke as thick as a London fog and coffee brewed endlessly in the largest attainable brewing device within driving distance.  While I am sure that the pall of smoke has today been relegated to a nearby alcove or outdoor “designated” smoking area, I suspect the coffee still runs like the bulls at Pamplona—every day of the year.  And apparently, the best way to fend off the contact buzz from the Stygian gloom of a nicotine cloud is to drink coffee in tiny foam cups with red plastic stirs that poke your fore-head as you try to slurp up the coffee flavored sugar ooze in the bottom.

So, Dems in Belknap county, that would mean that you will spend a lot, ignore the Constitution, and grow Govt? AGAIN?

2012 House Belknap 2 Dems - Front‘Tis the season of political surveys coming in on the phone.  Today, I think I got five, and a whole bunch of hangups which I take to be auto-dials by such companies looking for folks to call later or that with “predictive dialing”, there wasn’t an agent ready when “it” thought there would be when it dialed the number.  It is also the time for “mailers”; candidates trying to sell their message like these four Democrat ProRegressives: Kate Miller, Bill Johnson, Sandy Mucci, and MY fav Lisa DiMartino (she of the “my house is in the flight path – there might be a crash” fame.  More on that later).

They are running as a team.  That’s fine – my pick are the four Conservatives (that happen to be running on the Republican ticket) Colette Worseman, Herb Vadney, Bob Greemore, and my personal friend Kevin Leandro.

Back to the Dems – remember, the electorate (that would be you, the voters) decided that the Democrats were the extremists in 2010 – and told them emphatically that their social issue voting and their absolutely crazy spending were no longer to be tolerated.  So, what did these qwazy quad send as a message?  That would be on the flip side of the card:

Pelham NH To Consider Ban on Driving?

car-accident -Should Pelham NH ban automobiles? After years of watching citizens and tourists of all ages fail to properly operate motor vehicles–resulting in  millions of dollars in property damage, injury, and death, Pelham New Hampshire has opened a discussion about whether or not to ban driving in their town.

“Some of these accidents have scarred people for life, others have died,” said Kneejerk Reaction. “We just can’t let this continue.”

OK.  I’m kidding.  Sort of.  Pelham is having a conversation about whether or not to ban fireworks (as predicted) after an incident this past summer in which several people were injured, and some of them were, to quote the article, scarred for life.  While we wish the best for those affected, banning behaviors based on one incident like this is not wise.

Hey I slipped on a wet floor.  That’s it.  No more mopping!

Reality Check: NH Democrat’s Nancy Pelosi Values are not New Hampshire Values

NH Democrats have Nancy Pelosi Values - and they used to be proud of that.

Democrats have tried to lay claim to New Hampshire values but that’s not going to happen.  New Hampshire is about liberty, Live free or Die, local control, small government, and no broad based taxes, just like the TEA party.  Tea Party values are about defending the Constitution and rule of law, small and accountable government, low taxes and free markets.   NH Democrats are keen on painting a different picture, not just because they can’t run on their own records but because the root for their values is too freighting for them to acknowledge…

They have Nancy Pelosi Values.

New Hampshire Democrat values are Nancy Pelosi values, extreme left social and economic values that just two years ago they were actually proud of.   Values that are nothing like New Hampshire values…so what has changed in the past two years?  Nothing.   But they will do or say anything to get back into power.

Here’s a great example of what’s causing Republican angst lately – and a fact staring down the NH Dems

Tim has a great chart about political registration – while it is true that it is not all roses blooming for the Republicans, it looks downright nasty for the Democrats.  And using that as the foundation, look at this from (yes, again) The Corner:

Obama Three Points Ahead

Among likely voters, President Obama is at 50 percent and Mitt Romney at 47 percent in a new CNN poll. The partisan breakdown is 37 percent Democrat, 34 percent independent, and 29 percent Republican.

This is a perfect example of front loading Democrat participation using a turnout model that just doesn’t exist in the real world.  Really, a model that has only 29% Republican?  I realize that there is a lot of discussion going on about what the right mix should be – and I will admit that the independent number looks right.  The Democrat has a mix that is 8 points higher than the Republicans?  Really?

Add this in from Breitbart (emphasis mine):

Perfect timing, NH Rep David Campbell – you prove my point

I just put up this post up and it ends like this:

Our single reason why is this: he [Obama]is the single worst threat to TEA Party ideals: Free Markets (he wants Government directed markets), Constitutionally bound and limited Government, and fiscal responsibility in that Government.  These are complete opposite of the current crop of Democrat Socialists.

And that is why they fear us.

That the NH Dems are calling the TEA Party, Free Staters and 9/12ers extreme is simple: we represent and “cling” to the values and the words in the Constitution.  We are their worst nightmare as we are the Gate that stops the country’s march to complete Progressivism.  And then this came floating in:

Apparently [Democrat NH State Representative] David Campbell thinks we are a bunch of nut jobs in the NH house……The conservative “Bat-signal” is requested gentlemen.

While responding to a “Grok-signal” might be more appropriate (heh!),  we stand by our pledge: “… fly to the aid of rock-ribbed freedom loving and liberty seeking / leaning folk anywhere!…”.  So, I went and left these bon mots for Rep Dave – and an offer:

Extreme?  Really The First remark to be made is “Yo, Dave”?  Are you forgetting that in 2010, the voters (er, that would be ALL NH voters) finally had enough of the Democrat agenda and threw the majority of your butts out of the House and most of your butts out of the NH Senate, and completely out of the Executive Council.

So, wanna keep yakking about who was judged to be “extreme”?

What does the TEA Party want?

They say, “If you’re taking flak, you’re over the target.”  Thus the TEA Party, whose common sense demands for fiscal responsibility and constitutionally limited government are shared by most Americans, is attacked by people who most likely never attended a TEA Party meeting or understood TEA Party documentation.

Thousands of TEA Party groups and millions of members agree that passing debt to our children and grandchildren is immoral and un-acceptable, and that government spending must be limited to government revenue.

Democrat Values Vs. TEA Party Values

The Entire New Hampshire Democrat party is running against the TEA Party.  They claim that they stand for New Hampshire values, not TEA Party values.  Well I can see why Democrats would object to TEA Party values but are they sure they can lay claim to New Hampshire Values?

Tea party originalFor the novices in the audience the TEA Party stood up to object to excessive spending and the taxes that spending would inevitably require.  (If your president spends 5 trillion dollars in just three years and you don’t make a peep in objection, that is a Democrat party value–someone has to pay for that, and it is the middle class and everyone else and suggesting otherwise it a bald-faced lie; another Democrat party value?)  Americans saw that for what it was when it started in 2009 and rose up in opposition.  T.E.A = Taxed Enough Already.

Knowing what we know about New Hampshire Democrats do you really want them speaking for your values?  I don’t think you do.  But here are a few examples of New Hampshire Democrat Values to help you decide.

Is the GOP Headed for Implosion?

Boehner The Clown

House Speaker John Boehner took part in an interview with Fox News this week and one of the topics, invariably, was VP-pick, Paul Ryan.  During the interview, Greta Van Susteren challenged Boehner about Ryan’s votes for TARP, the auto bailouts, and two 2008 stimulus programs, asking how, as a Conservative, he politically “sells that”.

Boehner responded with just about the stupidest, yet telling, remark possible…

Mysterious Folder Conundrum

Love Birds

Suppose you fall in love with someone who is good looking, well groomed, and has lots of potential.  Let’s say you two lovebirds decide to get married.  Giddiness and joy all around…congratulations.

One day, you are at the supermarket, casually buying grapes (so you can feed them to your love, like they do in the old-timey movies), when a shadowy person comes up behind you and hands you a sealed folder.  The mystery person whispers in your ear and says…
