Data Point – Support for President Obama is falling

It has been a while since I put up the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Poll – time to restart: Since his Second Inauguration, his job approval level has been dropping – and fast. Yes, his personal approval levels remain positive (something that I have never figured out).  It seems that the scandals that are now engrossing … Read more

FEAR

From the X-Files Season 2 Episode 3 – Blood Scully: “Why Mulder?  Why would they intentionally create a population that destroys itelf.“ Mulder: “Fear.  It’s the oldest tool of power.  If you distract, by fear of those around you, it keeps you from seeing the actions of those above.” Scully is asking why the government … Read more

Blogline of the Day – Laura Ingraham

“Pete Wehner is missing the whole point of why the Tea Party is so furious with the GOP Establishment. Yes, we think that they are a bunch of squishes, hacks and sell-outs. That is true. But we also think despite all their advanced degrees, they’re stupid. We think that their ideas on immigration are crazier … Read more

O on Terrorism, Striking Foreign and Domestic Intersections

Yesterday, the pusillanimous powder puff currently lounging in the Oval Office gave a speech on the “war on terror”. Below are some of the lines that struck me as interesting given the current maelstrom of power abuse scandals spinning around the great eared one.

Oblow-hardia:

“We will never erase the evil that lies in the hearts of some human beings, nor stamp out every danger to our open society. What we can do – what we must do – is dismantle networks that pose a direct danger, and make it less likely for new groups to gain a foothold, all while maintaining the freedoms and ideals that we defend.”

Naturally, the “networks that pose a direct danger” is in the eye of the beHolder. Given the recent lens that many more now peer through to clearly make out this administration’s penchant for abusing power and disrupting networks of American citizens it’s hard not to know what else he’s referring to.

TEA Party starting to return to protesting? Here in NH, a re-start. DHS Police take notice?

With the recent news that the IRS was using its bureaucratic muscle to muzzle TEA Party groups ahead of the last Presidential election (hmm, the Press kept harping that the TEA Party disappeared – now we know, in part, why), is this now going to be a Rick Santelli type moment, Version 2.0?  They started small, all over the country.  A call went out for the TEA Party to start showing up at IRS offices all over country in protest.  Instapundit has pix from around the country (here, here, and here for some examples).

NH too!  Loyal reader Chuck sent these in:

NH TEA Party Protesting IRS - 1

NH TEA Party Protesting IRS - 2NH TEA Party Protesting IRS - 3

Not evident here in NH, there were some protests that did get the attention of Obama’s own security force (“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”) just in SUVs without any of the 2,700 MRAPS that DHS has reto’d lately:

Belknap County Conservative Republicans’ Family Fun Day – interview with Don Walker

After doing GrokTALK! first thing in the morning in Concord, I headed up to Laconia to Funspot where the Belknap County Conservative Republicans were having their Family Fun Day – under the tent, free food, and opening up their arms to the public at large to talk about the Republican Party Platform, Constitutional values, and conservative values.  One example of their literature contained information on their mission, who they are, where they stand, and an answer to those that disagree that their group should even exist (full info after the jump).  While I was there, I took the opportunity to get a couple of interviews.  This first one with is long time conservative activist and co-founder of the group, Don Walker:

Technical note: normally I just use a shotgun mic on the camera but the ambient noise level was just too high for that configuration.  Instead, we were wearing headsets due to the noise level and then trying to pipe that into the camera via a soundboard – something I have seldomly done in the past.  Post-processing, it became clear that one of the cables used to do this went bad – I apologize to Susan Olsen and Colette Worseman as their interviews were too static-y to use, and I had to edit Greg Moore’s near the end as well.

You know, I can’t remember the last time that the “official” Belknap County Republican Committee had such an event – estimates were that between 125 – 175 people came over at some point during the day.

The answer, obviously if you had been paying attention, is “Yes!” (shades of SB11)

WMURHe keeps asking, so we keep answering.  This week, Pindell finally gives an UP to the TEA Party movement, along with a question:

Tea Party: The decentralized movement got a new reason for being this week with the news the IRS was targeting them. Since they were proven right on this does it mean everyone needs to take Agenda 21 more seriously?

After all, there is a difference between being paranoid (which many have place the TEA Party because of our warning of an incipient Tyrannical Government) and being what our Founders instructed us to do: be vigilant.  The problem is that while many Americans are familiar with Hard Tyranny in other countries (e.g., Soviet Union, Iran, third world countries with Strong Man despots masquerading as Democracies) they’re blinkered when it comes to Tyranny in other forms (i.e., the soft despostism of De Tocqueville moving onward to the medium Tyranny exemplified by Atlas Shrugged; good intentions that morph in to “you WILL do it because we know it is good for you”).

Much has happened with this IRS scandal – and it is becoming clear that the IRS has institutionalized an attitude that “we are above the law”.  Combine that with a Big Bureaucracy, a Public Sector Union mentality, and almost unlimited Power, you have seen an extremely

Sidenote:  YES, finally we see a real use for the word EXTREMISTS!

biased hierarchy willing to stomp on those that are perceived as a threat – not merely as a political one, but as an existential one.  One that has to be stomp on and stomped out.

Blogline of the Day: Sir Winston Churchill on the Obama IRS Scandal?

obama-big-brother2As Steven Hayward of Powerline points out, this speech by the British Prime Minister during WWII given while campaigning to retain that position after the war’s end, points out that a Socialist Government brooks no dissent. Yes, the title of this post is a wee bit over the top (after all, Churchill is no longer with us), but even though these words were spoken almost 70 years ago, the meaning still holds true – the Collective cannot tolerate thoughts contrary to its own.  After all, if people start thinking on their own, they have just gone “Individualistic” – the opposite of the most High Truth of Socialism: We ARE (and WILL BE) in this together.

My friends, I must tell you that a Socialist policy is abhorrent to the British ideas of freedom. Although it is now put forward in the main by people who have a good grounding in the Liberalism and Radicalism of the early part of this century, there can be no doubt that Socialism is inseparably interwoven with Totalitarianism and the abject worship of the State. It is not alone that property, in all its forms, is struck at, but that liberty, in all its forms, is challenged by the fundamental conceptions of Socialism.

Look how even today they hunger for controls of every kind, as if these were delectable foods instead of wartime inflictions and monstrosities. There is to be one State to which all are to be obedient in every act of their lives. The State is to be the arch-employer, the arch-planner, and arch-administrator and ruler and the arch-caucus-boss. . .

A Socialist State once thoroughly completed in all its details and its aspects—and that is what I am speaking of—could not afford to suffer opposition. . . Socialism is, in its essence, an attack not only upon British enterprise, but upon the right of the ordinary man or woman to breathe freely without having a harsh, clumsy, tyrannical hand clapped across their mouths and nostrils. . . Have we not heard Mr Herbert Morrison descant upon his plans to curtail Parlimentary procedure and pass laws simply by resolution of broad principle in the House of Commons, afterward to be left by Parliament to the executive and to the bureaucrats to elaborate and enforce by departmental regulations? . . .

IRS Admits to Targeting Tea Party Groups

Democrat Civility Alert #infinity+1: This pretty much defines what “fringe” is for Democrats

At least there is none of that faux friendship of “my friend from <name your state>” that we often hear from US Congressmen or Senators.  It seems that Democrats believe, and are now willing, to call ANYONE with an R after their name, “fringe” whenever the Rs don’t do what the Ds demand they do. … Read more

Via Weasel Zippers:

An observation: Does the Left now hate Muslims?

Quick observation: all week long, one Leftist / Progressive / Democrat has trotted out the meme that it had to be a white TEA Party extremist that set off the bombs – someone who loves a lo-cal Government struggling on a pittance.  Three examples: David Axelrod’s “hanging” innuendo of a tax day protest, Charles Pierce that it as a “patriot” because of the MA Patriot Day holiday, CNN, David Sirota – and that’s just from today’s quick run through my normal blog readings (there have been a LOT since Monday – here’s a better list).

Chalk it up to the Progressive politicization of everything where nothing is off limits. They just couldn’t wait to see what actually developed – after all, they traffic in emotion and not facts.  They were wailing before it was known if this tragedy was created by a lone wolf or an entire cell network behind this.  Yes, the Right reacted as well, but mostly AFTER the first few punches / tweets / quotes / op-eds had already been unleashed by the Left who just couldn’t constrain their hatred.  They were DYING that it be their opposition.  Not just any opposition, but those that keep them from achieving their goals.  You see, they believe they ARE the moral ground (and not just merely standing on it or holding it).  Their fevered minds believe if they can JUST show that their political opposition is as evil as they believe that are (re: that old saw that Conservatives think that Liberals are just wrong / misguided; Liberals believe Conservatives are EEEEEvil), they could convince the Middle to hate them as well.

Me?  I think it is just

Blogline of the Day – Obama and the TEA Party

What Is It That The NH-GOP Does?

It occurs to me that the town and county committee’s try to do quite a lot to support local candidates and races.   But what exactly is it that the State party, via the Executive Committee and chairman, do for Republicans in the state, other than give them an excuse to eat popcorn? Roll Call Examines Why The NH-GOP is Such a Mess

Roll Call has an article that will be making the rounds.  According to some people from around the Republican firmamanet…

The Granite State’s political infrastructure is “a mess,” complain out-of-state GOP consultants, and the state has become an increasingly difficult place to run campaigns.

The article goes on to observe some coincidences with problems in the national party, problems with turnover in the party structure itself, and in the control of the legislature.  It then quotes “Tea Party Critic” Fergus Cullen, which I suppose makes sense because he happens to be one of the GOP “experts” at standing idly by while New Hampshire turned Purple, or is it Blue?
