On Thursday, January 25th at 1:30 PM, a hearing is planned in the Senate Judiciary Committee for Michael Bloomberg’s Red Flag bill, aka ‘Extreme Risk Protection Orders’ (Senate Bill 360).
Discussions of possible federal ‘red flag’ laws are being raised again.
The basic idea is that if someone is accused of posing a danger to himself, or others, you take away his guns until you can judge whether the danger is real and if it’s not, he can try to get his guns back.
Using a state law against “Stalking,” RSA 633:3-a, anyone can file a request for a temporary restraining order against you, asking the court to shut down your political speech by placing a gag order on you and to remove all firearms and ammunition from your home.
In a vote of 3-2 today, right along party lines, New Hampshire Senate Democrats voted to pass House Bill 687 – AN ACT relative to extreme risk protection orders.
