More Reasons NOT to Nominate Jeb Bush

David Bozell from ForAmerica is back to talk about why we should not nominate Jeb Bush as the Republican candidate for president- in case you didn’t already have enough reasons of your own.  Why Lindsey Graham is actually running for President. And a few other presidential primary observations.

GrokTALK! – David Bozell From ForAmerica

David Bozell from ForAmerica joins us, to talk tax policy, Republican Primaries and DC politics. David Bozell: “The president can declare whatever the heck he wants. He can declare that they sky is green and grass is blue. And it is up to the congress to determine whether or not they are going to appropriate … Read more

NH Primary Night Open Thread – Updated as often as I can…

OK.  I or other Groksters will post votes and updates here when we get them or more likley see them.  Feel free to email me results at steve@granitegrok.com.

Final Update (Scroll down for earlier entries)

WMUR goes live at 10 with their primary coverage.  I’m done for now.  We’ll catch up in the AM unless the other Groksters have more to add.

I did want to point out that it looks like 20,000 more people voted in the GOP race for governor with about 50% in.  If that holds, the Democrats are doomed up and down the ticket.

Endorsement: Dan Dwyer, State Senate

As State Senate President, Peter Bragdon lays claim to a number of accomplishments, he also owns a number of disappointments, one of the most egregious of which is our continued membership in the Regional Greenhouse Gas initiative (RGGI).   I hold him solely responsible for our continued participation in this unconstitutional scheme which the Democrat majority that proceeded him, tied us to, which the House and Senate tried to repeal, and which only the Senate failed to override when vetoed by Governor Lynch.

RGGI should be deemed unconstitutional.  The compromise legislation is laughable.  Bragdon has been in Concord too long.  It is time for a change.  And Dan Dwyer offers us that opportunity.

Early Turnout in Merrimack…

NH Votes - I votedI hit the polls early this morning, arriving at 7:15, and the traffic in and out was steady, even brisk.  No long lines, and the presentation of ID posed no problems.

I also ran into Lenette Peterson, Jeanine Notter, Chris Buda (Local GOP Chair), George Markwell (Merrimack School Board), saw a few other folks as well, and then while getting gas overheard two people talking about how they had already voted while I was paying way too much to put gas into my car.  I think turnout will be exceptional for a primary.

I guess the the next question is…who do I think is going to win?

Mid afternoon voting turnout in Gilford…

Well, at midway through the afternoon, voting is light by many measure of general elections.  However, cast in the light of the 11% estimated Primary Day turnout, it seems that voting locally will exceed that estimate.  There is a contentious issue on the ballot – the Selectmen were very unhappy with the vote of the … Read more

Joke: Three NH Democrats for Governor Walk Into A Debate…

Three NHDP stooges for Governor Maggie Hassan, Jackie Cilley, Bill Kennedy…all three of them want to raise your taxes.  But seriously folks….they do.  They all want to empower the state to take more of your money.  So what is there to debate? …How they disguise that desire.  But it is a distinction without a difference, or is that a difference without a distinction?

Whichever stooge you choose, Bill “No DGA if No Va-Jay-Jay” Kennedy, Maggie ‘Louisville Slugger’ Hassan (aka Bat Gurl), or Jackie “Tax and Spend us” Cilley, they all want to grow government right now, regardless of any economy, at your expense.

So Democrats need the debate to figure out which stooge will be the best liar?

Breaking News – Michigan GOP Changes Allocation Of Delegates

ABC News headline states: “Michigan GOP Changes Delegate Rules, Gives Primary Edge to Romney” and the Associated Press states “Michigan GOP changes delegate award after vote.” Last night there was an unannounced closed-door secret meeting of the Michigan Republican Party credentialing committee. During the meeting, they voted 4 to 2 to allocate delegates differently than … Read more

Mitt Romney owned the New Hampshire Primary. Period. Turnout was good and steady but not unusual. Nothing dramatic happened. People just gave up and voted for Mittens. With 95% reporting Governor Romney took 39% of the vote. Ron Paul came in second with 23%. Governor Huntsman managed third with 17%. Gingrich and Santorum both had … Read more

Wednesday Morning Coffee – Ron Paul Third in Iowa

Dr. Paul wins third place in IowaAn “ends justifies the means” approach to a Republican primary is how ‘Republicans’ for Ron Paul justify begging Democrats to register as Republicans or independents so they can screw with the results of the GOP Primary to their candidates advantage.

In Iowa, assuming it worked, this netted Congressman Paul a decent third place showing.  We are left to wonder what the numbers would be without the interlopers, but it seems certain Ron Paul owns third place by a wide margin.  In Iowa that is as reasonable a launching pad for the Oval office as first, second, or fourth.

Meanwhile, in New Hampshire, where a near-majority of voters register as independents,  Dr. Paul should expect to do better.  But if he can’t there is no reason to believe he will find improvements in South Carolina or Florida.  Failing to win New Hampshire is by no means fatal, but if he can’t pull out a first or second here, the odds of doing it anywhere else dim considerably despite his otherwise outstanding campaign mechanics.

Anyone Object To A Vice President Ron Paul?

Ron Paul for...Vice PresidentI think everything Ron Paul stands for deserves as much oxygen as it can get (for good or bad).  But no matter what the effect of that vetting, no matter how well he does in Iowa and New Hampshire, I still don’t see a path to the nomination.  (This does not make me a neo-con, by the way.)

Gary Johnson has gone third party-ish (Libertarian), taking that avenue from the esteemed Texas Congressman, and we have to wonder if there is a Huntsman independent bid, a Donald Trump Fifth column party, or any number of other players vying for “most arrogant attention seeker in a hopeless endeavor destined to give Obama four lame duck years to finish the country off for good” category.   Ron Paul not getting the nomination is a part of that conundrum.  In fact, he may well turn out to be the Justice Anthony Kennedy of the GOP Primary.

His fans are legion in their support and willing to do anything to see him find a way to the White House. Many are already promising to stand by and risk Obama getting re-elected rather that vote for some McCain retread, risking what amounts to a protest-fast that will probably end in the death of liberty before we get another shot at the oval office.

But does Ron Paul as VP change the game?

O’Brien to Endorse Gingrich; Horn will Endorse Romney

The Manchester Union Leader is reporting today that House Speaker Bill O’Brien plans to formally endorse Newt Gingrich today.  This was noted last week but not formally stated.

“I want a candidate who has a clear understanding of conservative philosophy. I look for someone who has good instincts, someone who is intelligent and has great leadership and an ability to articulate the philosophy of our party and his own goals.

“Speaker Gingrich has all of that,” O’Brien said.

Former CD-2 Congressional candidate Jennifer Horn will endorse Mitt Romney today, and has been selected as co-chair of Romney’s national grass-roots committee.  (Let’s see – Ayotte is on the VP list, endorses Romney; Horn gets national committee co-chair, endorses Romney– Oh, did I write that out loud?)

Matt Hancock just abother cookie cutter Progressive
Donkey Cookie Cutter

Portsmouth Democrat Matthew Hancock announced this week that he has added his name to the list of primary pimping Progressives wishing to mount a challenge to the GOP held first congressional district seat in New Hampshire.   But after reading Matt’s press release I’m not quite sure what he brings to the table that is any different than the left wing clone-troopers already running?

Bachmann’s Contrdiction

Speaker Gingrich is taking heat for statements about immigration reform, mostly from people campaigning against him. (But then, that’s what makes a big primary so much fun.) Congressman Michele Bachmann, on PBS NewsHour of all places, took it to the hole with this remark…

Newt Gingrich compliments Ron Paul

Speaking about American military bases in Europe and elsewhere. Why are we still here, there and everywhere in the world?

As President, Gingrich would teach a free online course on American public policy

"I think I will probably teach a course when I’m president," Gingrich said while speaking at a campaign stop at … Read more
