Everyone seems to be taking “a few days off” at the same time, which is why you are seeing so much content from me. Today, for example, I am responsible for six of the eight pieces of content, and for one of the two I didn’t write, I had to find it, share it, and … Read more
Independent media matters most when it says what other outlets won’t. That’s why Granite Grok exists. And it’s why Bare Minimum Books fits so naturally with it. Both are built around the same idea: Question assumptions. Follow evidence. Think clearly. Speak plainly. We’re putting together a July fundraiser that brings both together. GraniteGrok and Bare … Read more
You’re always going to run into deadbeats, no matter what you do, and one way we generate revenue around here (and thus attract the potential for more of them) is by publishing sponsored content for a small fee. A post about something with backlinks which the agency or freelancer pays GraniteGrok to publish. If you … Read more

Sundays are odd days for me. I know, it’s Monday, and Monday is why Sunday is weird. I have a part-time Monday through Friday job, and I have some other side-gig work that all falls under the umbrella of GROK MEDIA, LLC, but GraniteGrok is the 7/365 gig. Not 24/7, but definitely 5-7/7/365 and depending … Read more

Second, one of those readers managed to solve the rproblem form their end. They had their techie fiddle with the browser settings, and now they have no issue. … Read more
Some of you will have experienced a handful of different connection issues in the past week. We are also still dealing with Cloudflare issues, which is embedded by the hosting company and not local to GraniteGrok, blocking up to 30% of our traffic. Multiple arduous sessions with support have not fixed this, and I have … Read more
Note: If your antivirus flags granitegrok.com, please email me so I can contact them and file a false flag report. First, if you do, I’d recommend canceling Norton Anti-Virus and getting something else. They are pricey, they constantly upsell, and it’s annoying. They have also flagged GraniteGrok.com as a Scam website. If you access GraniteGrok … Read more
I have been the beneficiary of praise over the years for being able to produce content like sh!t through a goose. That’s not to say it doesn’t come out the same way when I’ve his schedule or publish, simply that there are times when the conjunction of “what should I write about” and the finished … Read more

A few years back, during the dark ages of Social media censorship, we had a massive reach on Facebook and a thriving Facebook Group. After FB added fake fact-checkers, we got throttled, squashed, and the group had to be mothballed. By March of 2021, Facebook was prepared, because of the shared content on the group, … Read more

I’ve been learning some interesting things about how Google’s website traffic calculations work, and it explains a lot. A more realistic view comes from my hosting company, which tracks the actual number of unique IPs per day after filtering out bots, spam, and other similar traffic. They do this in part because the cost of … Read more
With a few weeks left, it does not appear as if we can even get close to our fundraising target. I wanted to raise $20,000 and we are not even close. I attribute this to my inability to fundraise or to ask people who can probably afford it to write checks, but I am grateful … Read more
We are way behind on our latest fundraiser, but that’s always the case. Nothing new. We’ll figure something out, or GraniteGrok will have to do less based on the budget we have. It wouldn’t be the first time. SO thank you so very much to those who have given and given again. You can imagine … Read more
Idiotic Southern Poverty Law Center Thinks Small Government is HATE? Yes, my output has been stymied—from writing to sharing regularly to social media updates. I am wrestling with a barrage of cold symptoms I had somehow managed to avoid for over three months. Since November, someone in my house has had a cold or flu-like something. Fevers, coughs, sniffling, sneezing. It’s been relentless. They’d get … Read more
