Greetings, readers of the ‘Grok, and thanks, as always, for spending time with us. I wanted to provide a quick update on the site and some upcoming adjustments. We are still planning to add dates or date flags for the content on the archive/category pages. It’s mostly a scheduling thing with the design team. Second, at present, every op-ed by lines reads “op-ed,” so you have no idea who wrote it until you open it. There is a plugin issue we are waiting to address that will correct this. The goal is to ensure you see a name. I have been adding them to the top of the post so you see them in the text on the category pages (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New England, National, and World). It is also visible in the newsletter – if you have not signed up for that, please do. But, on the home page, for now, it says op-ed. Just click it; we can always use more page views.
We are also going back to one of our previous ad vendors. I am not able to raise the donations necessary to eliminate ads, and the new ad package is not producing anywhere near the revenue the previous ones were. I can’t keep doing this without the income. On a positive note, there will be no more ads in the middle of posts, but you will still have ads.
We will also be removing featured images on existing posts before 2016 to free up space. Most of those got locked down for other reasons in 2019, so you won’t miss much. If you happen to see a post missing a graph or something, in th ebody (or the image link is broken) let me know, and we’ll see about adding that back.
