Obama Fail Spotlight: I Will Go Line By Line to Remove Wasteful Earmarks…

If you missed this post, there is a link to a blog that is compiling 1001 reasons to vote against Obama. There are at least 600 reasons so far. But as I reviewed the first 100, which I included in my linked post, I came across a classic Obamaism that deserved special attention.

The promise to go line by line through legislation before signing it, to remove wasteful earmarks. Of course his first major piece of spending legislation was the stimulus, and what wasn’t for public sector union bailouts was wasteful earmarks.

So Mr. Obama was either lying or he is not very good at reading legislation (A common problem for Democrats, or so I hear).

“Candidate Barack Obama publicly promises to go “line by line” through legislation to remove wasteful earmarks.”

Obama stimulus gave $200,000 to teach Siberian lawmakers how to engage Russian policy makers in Moscow.
Stimulus funding of $250,000 went to bug storage for an insect museum at North Carolina State University that gets 44 visitors a year.
Gave $500,000 to put microchips in recycling bins to check up on the recycling efforts of senior citizens.
$5 million to create a geothermal energy system for the Oak Ridge City Center shopping mall in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
$9.38 million to renovate a century-old train depot in Lancaster County, Pa., that has not been used for three decades.

About That “No Tax Pledge” Candidate Hassan…

It’s a well regarded fact that Democrat Candidate Maggie “The Red” Hassan, early in her candidacy for Governor of New Hampshire, took a Pledge to veto any sales or Income tax. This is something of an election year tradition. Democrats who have been trying to raise old taxes or pass new taxes for years find the odds of achieving the states highest office against them if they don’t pay lip service to “The Pledge.”

Governor Shaheen fell off the horse and eventually passed the state wide education funding tax. Governor Lynch signed the pledge then later signed off on RGGI, a regressive broad based tax that actually outsourced taxing power to an unelected out of state board. And now Maggie Hassan has stated repeatedly that she has taken the same pledge, but has she?

Which ~~Utopian~~ dystopian Democrat dream-Scam is failing faster?

In Cah-Lee-Four-Knee-Ah the Workers paradise is collapsing at an ever increasing rate as the anchor of unsustainable public union contracts and pensions drag otherwise average, every-day, incompetently run, but barely sustainable left wing bureaucrapalities (bureaucratically strangled municipalities run by an endless string of administrators and political descendents of the Democrat bloodline) into bankruptcy.

In Obamaville, the chronically unemployed can look up from the gutters of Hopey-changey Way to watch the lights dim on an unending string of Solar Panel/Green Energy company failures as the DoE’s wasted-billions to prop up the Renewable Energy Utopia ding-bats like Jeanne Shaheen have oversight on, produce nothing but failure and rising debt service payments.

The missing link between these two is happily not missing. And you cant blame George Bush. These failures are both of products of Progressives, mostly Democrats, attempting to micromanage labor, its type, direction, output, and value.

A lot of people avoid politics because it seems so complex. And there are plenty of people who make it that way on purpose to keep those very same people from getting involved. If you are not involved you are more likely to buy into the nonsense or not pay much attention. But I’m here today to make it as simple as I can. It’s Friday. Things should be simple on Friday.

So here we go.

New Hampshire Democrats want to raise your taxes. (Just look at 2007-2010 if you doubt me.) They are convinced that the government needs the money more than you do and with Democrats the government always comes first. So the first thing they do is spend it, then find ways to tax it out of you.

Most New Hampshire Republicans would disagree. While there are some things government could do, can do, and maybe even should do, none of them take priority over you and your family, or your job or your business. And that is on the good days. In this economy we really don’t need to add to the cost of unnecessary government which is why the Republicans cut spending and the deficit, and cut unnecessary taxes and still balanced the budget, rather than taking money from you to do it. They wanted you to keep more of your own money, especially in these trying fiscal times.

Hey. If we (the TEA party/Right wing activists, etc) are going to get blamed (by left wing radical Democrats) for making the New Hampshire House and Senate write and pass legislation (that reduces spending, taxes, regulation, and increases liberty and freedom), then we damn well deserve credit for this.

It’s the end of the two-year fiscal cycle and revenues came in +0.8%. That means we took in revenue just a little bit more than we spent. And for the first time since (cough cough) 2006–the last year for which Republicans were responsible for revenue estimates–we are not in a fiscal crisis. No late night, last minute, emergencies. No layoffs. No mid-budget hiring or wage freezes, no sudden need to borrow more money, no special, late night meetings to pass unpopular taxes that never had a hearing, or draconian plots to sell as yet defined public lands while cramming pension costs down on towns becasue revenue estimates were not even close. No forcing department heads to look for savings in the middle of the budget cycle. No abrupt, heavy handed, executive orders to bring spending in line with revenue. No delaying the pain or kicking the can down the road for someone else to deal with.

These were all features of the four year budgetary disaster known as Democrat majority control. And thanks to the TEA party–if Ray Buckley and his Tax and Spend Democrat Party are to be believed–we no longer have that problem.

AFP-NH has released its 2011-2012 Legislative scorecard for New Hampshire. In my review of the score card results there is not much that will surprise anyone who makes it a habit of paying attention to what happens in Concord. But not everyone lurks in the Political sausage factory so lets take a quick review.

Every Democrat in the New Hampshire House received an ‘F’ except for Domingo Baldwin in Stafford County and John Gilmas in Hillsborough; They both got a C.

You’re Just Not Smart Enough For Free Speech

All things being equal, the only reason Democrats might have to complain about the affect of FEC vs. Citizens United on paid political speech is if it somehow removed some pre-existing advantage they had. Why else cause such a fuss? The left clearly has just as much right to take advantage of the current state of political discourse as anyone, right?

So that’s not the problem, is it?

The real problem has nothing to do with money. Democrats have tons of that and always have. And they never complained when they could afford more “speech” than anyone else. So spending money on speech is not the issue.

And it has nothing to do with ‘transparency, not the way they have framed it. They want “transparency” because without it they can’t use their media advantage to intimidate opponents into keeping their opinions, ideas, and money to themsleves. Democrats can’t silence groups of donors they cannot specifically identify (see also Obama/FEC trying to force Right wing groups to release donor lists).

So Democrats are not worried about money in political speech. They are worried about money and speech they can’t control. They are worried about people hearing any message that is not their message.

Democrats are afraid of free speech because they simply do not think you are smart enough to know what you are supposed to believe.

1.8 Million in Democrat Gov Funding For NH …99.51% from Outside The State

DGA NH has 1.8 million for NH Gov Race--, 98% of it from outside New Hampshire Bragging about how the Democrat Governors Association New Hampshire PAC is sitting on 1.8 Million in June of 2012 does tell us something about our Governors Race. It tells us that Democrats can’t say anything about out of state campaign money polluting local elections.

Of the 354 pages of donations that make up the $1.79 Million advertised on the June 2012 DGA NHPAC filing I could only find 198 line items listing donors living inside the state of New Hampshire. That is 0.6% of all donors listed in this report.

Of the nearly $1,790,000.00 collected just under $9,000.00 came from those New Hampshire donors. That’s 0.49% of all donations. (99.51% from outside donors.)

Can we say with certainty that whomever the Democrats pick for their candidate out of state influence is a given?

Balloons and The Law That Almost Was

A special Interest story recently reported that a Balloon intentionally released in Michigan had landed in Bedford New Hampshire. If we ignore the warm and fuzzy Bedford Boy Scout Troop members (who found the balloon) meet Michigan Girl Scout Troop (that released it), and jump in our way-back machine to New Hampshire circa 2007/2008, had HB 62 become law, someone in Michigan would owe the State of New Hampshire a $250.00 fine for littering.

Do we look too young to be...smoking? NH Tobacco revenu up again Nothing makes me smile like watching another left wing New Hampshire Democrat narrative go up in smoke. Which narrative, you ask, there are so many to choose from? Why, the one about how irresponsible it was to cut the tobacco tax and how it would never stimulate enough other forms of cross border commerce to make up the difference. A notion that is not just backwards, it runs counter to the entire concept of the New Hampshire advantage.

So right out of the gate, the Democrats had no where to run on this issue–not that they didn’t try–and now things are looking bad for their tobacco tax narrative.

Governor Martin O’Malley Rallies NH Democrats…

Remember when New Hampshire Governor John Lynch slithered off in secret to Tim Gill’s secret Gay-millionaire-democrat-donor confab known as Political OutGiving? He wasn’t fundraising, so he said, but ended up with around $100,000.00 in contributions from the attendees (He got the rest of his 2010 campaign cash from Unions and his own bank account). Well the only other Governor at that same event was Maryland’s Martin O’Malley.

Governor O’Malley probably wasn’t there to “fund-raise” either but given that he was reportedly on the fence about Gay Marriage, and the Gay lobby was pushing hard for a Gay Marriage bill in Maryland, and Governor John Lynch–who was against Gay Marriage before he was bought off by outside money and intimidated by the state party to be for it–the presence of this Democrat couple at the secret Chicago Millionaire Gay donor-confab seemed hardly serendipitous.

Nor does this seem coincidental–the choice of Governor Martin O’Malley to speak to the New Hampshire State Democrat Party convention last Saturday.

I’ve received a few comments on my previous post about the Barret rally at which a US Marine protester was removed and arrested. The commenters are making a case that David Willoughby was cursing and presented a threat to the Mayor and former President Clinton, which the Milwaukee Police News documents as follows.

David B. Willoughby, 39, of West Allis, was issued a municipal citation for disorderly conduct when he refused to comply with Milwaukee Police orders to step back from his location where he was waving a large wooden pole with a sign mounted on it. Given his proximity to Mayor Tom Barrett and other dignitaries, officers believed he posed a threat with the large sign and was asked to move back.

I think this is basically a load of crap.

Remembering Democrat Rule Part 2

If New Hampshire Democrats were ever again allowed to run the State legislature we already know the first thing they would do. They would overestimate revenue to justify spending for the purpose of driving us into a broad based tax. They did it during a recession, with unemployment skyrocketing, embarking on one of the most massive modern day expansions of New Hampshire state government. What’s to stop them doing it again under any other condition? Republicans. Barring that, nothing. It’s who they are.

Spending was and always is the Democrats first priority and Governor Lynch’s most recent budget was just another example. Even without a Democrat legislature he wanted to spend 4.731 billion on General and Education funds, almost 300 million more than the current Republican Budget; a budget 6% less than that of Governor Lynch; a Republican budget that is almost exactly in line with actual revenue. (That means it spent what they estimated they would take in.)

But left unchecked by Republicans Democrat Governor Lynch would have got his budget and then some, and added another 300 million dollar hole that the taxpayers of New Hampshire would have had to fill because there wasn’t another $300 million plus to spend without raising some more taxes in this lousy economy.

The New Hampshire Democrat party and their fellow travelers have nothing to run on so the travails of one man in the New Hampshire House, DJ Bettencourt, are all they’ve got. Of course, he will no longer be in the NH House, a feature of his circumstances which we would never see from a New Hampshire Democrat, and therein lies the rub.

The New Hampshire Hypocrats have as much moral authority to point fingers at Bettencourt as NAMBLA would have it were ever to complain about Catholic Priests sexually abusing boys. Actually, the NH Democrats may have less.

So what did Union Leader’s Ted Seifer wish to accomplish with this line?

Filling a vacancy on any Supreme Court–be it the US Supremes or the NH Supremes–is a big deal, so it is no surprise that people are talking and reporting on it (as we have here, here, and here). So did the Union Leader; Ted Seifer interviewed Tim, asking him about the NHLRF‘s position on Gov. John Lynch’s nominee for the NH Supreme Court, Jim Basssett. Having gotten the link from a friend I decided to read the piece and this caught my eye:

Factually true, but what does the Free State Project connection have to do with the NH Constitutional basis that forms the basis for the NHLRF activities?
