The Reality of Progressive Intimidation

What you should take away from the Rush Limbaugh fracas, other than that aside from the choice of words, he was right.

First, advertisers who initially abandoned Rush Limbaugh are afraid of the left.  They are afraid that the party of big government will come at them with all their resources to undermine whatever it is they do.  So they cannot be trusted to stand up for free markets or capitalism.  Plain and simple.  They will never defend freedom of speech or the right of association.

Socialism’s Assault on Religion vs. Industry as Virtue

The Marxist/secularist assault on religion is well documented and continues today on many fronts.  But one of the reasons for attacking Religion in the first place, is that the foundations of the Puritan/Protestant faith–in America at least–never viewed material success as an obstacle to spiritual salvation.  In fact they encouraged it.

NH Democrats Fight To Abolish Religious Freedom

Why is the New Hampshire Democrat Party attacking religious freedom in the State of New Hampshire?  From the state party chair, to Democrat candidates for governor, right down to elected members, Planned Parenthood, and EMILY’s list lobbyists.   The entire morally bankrupt Democrat party machine has a laser-like focus on denying you another first amendment right.  The right to religious freedom is under attack again.

This has nothing to do with contraception everything to do with the governments role in mandating it.

Progressives only look across the scope of human history for propaganda.  They have no interest in the connection between yesterday, today, and certainly not tomorrow.  They are only concerned with the distance between what their spleen tells them today (grow government), and how to do that and still get through their next re-election.  Which is why, in responding to a comment to my post, Beggars CAN be Choosers, I made this point…(paraphrased)

If, during the arguments for Griswold v. Connecticut, you suggested that seeing a right to privacy in the constitution would just a few years later result in the legal practice of live birth abortion, people would have called you crazy.  And yet it happened.  Griswold begot Roe, Roe begot the abortion industry, which begot letting living breathing babies die at birth.  The right to privacy somehow resulted in legal murder.

Democrats Do Not Want You To Be Free

According to Dr. Larry Arnn, President of Hillsdale College…

“Limited Government is necessary if you are going to have a representative government.  You can’t have a representative government unless you have a big, strong, independent, vibrant society, that can be represented, that is independent of the government that represents it.”

With people being who people are, this makes perfect sense.  We are not angels.  And human beings are not to be trusted in the defense of their own cause because they are prone to take advantage or each other.   And history has shown time and again that bigger governments inevitably result in fewer freedoms.  So we can see who favors less actual freedom–not the false rhetorical, hopey-changey, social justice variety–by looking at who encourages dependence on a larger central government.

The Voting Dead

I posted the picture of the Voting Dead over on facebook, and an old friend promptly sent me this link.  It’s a classic and worth re-posting.  Thanks Tom.

Favorite pastime in New Hampshire? VOTE FRAUD!

This from former state representative and former Dover City Council member Dave Scott, a Harvard MBA and bilingual former CEO of a multi-national corporation:

I am certain we have illegal registration in towns near the University of New Hampshire in Durham.  We identified over 100 that voted improperly in Dover three years ago. We sent out letters to about 1,000 who voted for the first time.  The post office returned those they were unable to deliver. Stamped on the envelope were such phases as No such street number,  No such street address, No such person living at that street number.  We sent them to Bud Fitch at the office of the Attorney General.  No action.

That is, after the 2008 election, letters were sent out to 1,000 “first-time voters.” And are you surprised….?

How About A Condom in That Happy Meal?

If planned Parenthood can market cultural behaviors to children and teens that may inevitably grow their bottom line why can’t anyone else?

Why can’t McDonalds continue to serve the same food, or whatever food it wants (or that its customers want) if it just adds a little pamphlet on safe eating with information on how they offer additional for-profit services and consultation to help people deal with diet, eating disorders, weight, or obesity awareness?  McDonald’s could then promote these services in public schools, just like Planned Parenthood does.

Democrats – Party of No…Budget

debt -generational debt that isHarry Reid has been told to keep things from reaching Mr. Obama’s desk that might make Obama look bad.   So for over 1000 days the Democrats have avoided passing a budget.  The House has sent them plenty of budget related items, complete budgets, budget measures, spending and revenue measures, all dead or dying in the Senate, where Democrats own the landscape.

What’s that?  It’s the Republicans fault we don’t have a budget?  Sorry, that just aint so.

You can’t filibuster the budget. The Congressional Budget Act of 1974 stipulates that debate is automatically cut off after 50 hours of debate. At that point, a budget can be passed by a simple majority, 51 votes. Democrats currently hold 53 seats in the Senate. They can pass a budget on a simple party-line vote.

You might ask yourself why, when the Democrats had the votes for two years, and both Houses, they refused to pass a budget?

Cilley Jackie Enters The Governor’s Race

“The problem with political jokes is they get elected.”—Henry Cate

MANCHESTER — Former District 6 Democrat state Senator Jackie Cilley has thrown her hat into the gubernatorial ring for the Granite State’s Corner Office. Joining Maggie “the Marxist” Hassan, she seeks to replace Governor John “Lefty” Lynch who will not seek another term. “Silly” Jackie came to the Manchester YWCA to make her pitch yesterday rolling out the same old tired liberal screed often heard before.   The Union Leader’s Beth LaMontagne-Hall reports, Cilley pledged to, “ensure quality education for all students, protect the environment, fight right-to-work legislation and keep same-sex marriage on the books in New Hampshire.

If the economy is getting better…(Part 4)

…then why is the percentage of Americans living in “extreme poverty” at an all-time high?

Extreme Poverty at an all time high in the obama economy
Extreme Poverty at an all time high in the obama economy

Nothing says economic recovery like rising poverty.  Not just poverty but extreme poverty.  What, you hadn’t heard about that?

Then maybe you hadn’t heard this either.  Joblessness begets dependence, begets poverty, begets slaves to the will of the government.  Big brother doesn’t have to spy on you, he’s controlling your income.  If that isn’t a clear enough map how about this one.

foodstamp nation - 14 million more on food stamps under Obama…then why has the number of Americans on food stamps increased by 3 million since this time last year and by more than 14 million since Barack Obama entered the White House?

There’s something to put on your resume.

“When I was President (pause) we created or saved (pause) a kajillion billion jobs (pause) but somehow (pause) put 14 million people on food stamps in the process.” (applause from adoring media, I mean Democrats–eh, same thing.)

How does that work?

…then why is the average duration of unemployment in this country close to an all-time record high?unemployment duration

With six million less jobs, thanks to Obama’s so-called recovery policies, should we be surprised that the average duration of unemployment is at or near a record high?  If you pollute the employment market, making it inhospitable to job creation–lets call it Obamagenic Employment Cooling–you have fertilized the field for long term despair.

Free market liquor stores coming

GOP Rep. John Hikel has sponsored a bill that will allow bottled spirits of all types to be sold in markets, grocery stores, convenience stores, and other outlets. This change in the law will obviously benefit the free market and consumers in New Hampshire, but it will also result in the creation of lots of jobs, and lots more work for truckers, delivery people, stockers, etc. A Commerce Committee hearing will be held this coming Tuesday, February 7th, at 2:15 p.m. in Room 302 of the Legislative Office Building in Concord. You should be there and testify in FAVOR of the bill.

"The Feast of Spending Fools in Concord," by Bruegel

But wait! There’s a problem! To understand it, consider the famous picture above. You thought it was a raucous party of drunks in Concord, right? What might result if we allow expanded consumer choice and convenience in New Hampshire, and pass Rep. Hikel’s bill? No, you idiot. Read on to find out what the real problem will be….

Do Nothing Democrats

In celebration of this historic occasion, having gone 1000 days without our Democrat majority Government passing a budget, we give you, The Heritage Foundation’s “1000 Days.”

The Ascension of Democrat Voters

This started as a comment to Skips remarks on Neal Kurks bill HB 1658: ‘An act limiting Financial Assistance for mothers who have additional children while on Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).  As usual, a few off the cuff remark exceeded the medium so I have promoted them here–and then some.

It should be interesting to see if the Democrats try to frame Rep Kurk, the sole sponsor of HB 1658,  as another Republican Extremist.  Ideologically he is a GOP moderate, his NHHRA ratings put him near the RINO category, and if anything he fits the Democrats Free Stater legislative profile (another left wing narrative) more than anything.

But he has gotten a 100% rating from NARAL and as far as I can tell supports wide open access to contraceptives.   So he’s all in on reproductive freedom, and fully embraces the lefts doctrine, right up to the point where it starts to cost taxpayers buckets of money–and then it stops.  With great freedom comes great responsibility.  Rep Kurk  understands that sometimes people need help, but that we are not meant to be slaves to other peoples freedoms, including so called reproductive freedoms, and to that end we have HB 1658.

Taxpayers On The ‘Rack’

Elective Surgery on the taxpayer dime? I have a question for progressives.  If a fetus is just a lump of tissue, isn’t abortion just another form of plastic surgery?

You can’t even find a Democrat willing to admit the procedure is not elective.  It’s woman’s choice, yes?

And if you’ve ever gotten an unwanted earful from some feminis, going on  about what pregnancy can do to a woman’s body,  appearance is a consideration.  That makes it cosmetic, yes?

So if  abortion is the elective, cosmetic, removal of unwanted tissue, and not the termination of a human life, why doesn’t the liberal super-state demand the wholesale taxpayer funding of liposuction, nose jobs, and breast implants?

Sorry, trick question.  If you are a public school teacher in Buffalo New York, boob jobs are already covered by taxpayer dollars.

Sylvia Larsen – Zipper head

Not much left when it comes to tobacco taxes...I suppose you’ll want some context for that headline.  Back in December (12/9/2011) I explained why New Hampshire should continue lowering tobacco taxes.  I suggested we adopt some kind of schedule by which we would sunset tobacco taxes over the next decade based of the long term decline in sales.  Why, after all, would you risk the states ability to invest in anything, including the left’s rhetorical “neediest residents in their most desperate hours (or something),” using an unreliable source of revenue in decline?

OK, what I actually said was

“Only a progressive zipper-head would rely on more revenue from something they want to get rid of.  Increasing the tax on a declining market will only accelerate the unreliability of the revenue stream.  That  creates the opportunity for bigger budget holes that must then be filled on the fly.”

As if by magic, Sylvia Larsen, Democrat super-minoirty leader of the New Hampshire State Senate, in the face of declining unit sales, as fewer people smoke, after a decades long trend indicating that tobacco purchases will likely continue to decrease in the future, thinks we should increase our reliance on cigarette taxes in New Hampshire.

Zipper head. (doofus, goofball, goober, dunderhead, maroon, doh!) see note#2 below

So When Will Democrats Start Calling Me A Free Stater?

Free State - Seeking Liberty not left wing narrativesAll Democrats have narratives.  New Hampshire Democrats are no different.  The typical left wing narrative is designed to brain wash you by using the media to repeat the latest chest-beating tantrum, using sound bites, puff pieces, editorials, and press releases, to create a long term perception disguised as truth.  Did I mention that New Hampshire Democrats are no different?

There is a new narrative in New Hampshire.  This narrative infers that, despite the Democrats own treacherous policy record they are still a better gamble than those other people who are just plain scary.  Really scary.  Extremists.  Those… Free Staters.
