Reparations for Gays? When will victimhood march ever end?

A big part of the Left schtick is setting up a group for sainthood victimhood, make them a protected class and thus making them more equal among equals (a la Animal Farm).  And that then, in the Socialist mindset, allows for this wealth transfer and political punishment: "You know, I – gay people in this … Read more

For whom the poll tolls…

NH%20Voting%20Booth.jpgWell, we’ve had some poll data to digest these past couple week and, due to my instinctive craving to analyze the data, I’m going to summarize the results, and throw in some conjecture with it.

Poll #1:  NH Young Republican Picnic Straw Poll, (and here) conducted Saturday August 7, 2010

  • Senate – Ayotte 59, Lamontagne 57, Bender 44, Binnie 12, Lamare 2

Numbers were so close (between #1 and #2), that the votes had to be recounted.  As I’ve said, inside the activist community, and in public polls, this is looking like a 4-way horse-race (3-way at least), and anyone’s to win, for now.

Binnie’s big-money advantage on the airwaves and his poor reception among the activist and Conservative communities, seem to cancel each other out.  Even though he lives in Rye, where this picnic was held (!??!), Binnie was a no-show, to the "surprise" of the organizers.  Maybe he’s concerned about being ambushed by a bunch of smart-ass youngsters on social issues, after the recent Cornerstone Ad?

There’s still a lot of golf to be played in this tournament, though…

  • Congress D2 – Horn 82, Bass 52, Giuda 19, Reilly 2

Jennifer Horn gave a large thwap! to Charlie Bass this time, with a 30-vote margin.  If I am correct, Jennifer hasn’t lost a straw poll this year.  And I thought, at first, that the UnionLeader reporter wasn’t interested in reporting Bob Giuda’s vote-count, but then I saw him listed with 19 votes, in a later paragraph, where all of the no-so-front-runners were listed.

  • Congress D1 – Guinta 91, Ashooh 40, Mahoney 34, Bestani 8

Frank Guinta continues his Horn-like command of the straw polls, more than doubling-up everyone else.

  • Governor – Stephen 86, Kimball 72, Testerman 9, Emiro 6.

Although he fares better at Tea Party and 912 events, don’t count Jack Kimball out of this race just yet.  With 5 weeks to go, anything can happen.  Jack has a way of heating up the inner-passions of his listeners, and if he can get in front of more of them outside the activist community, quickly, he could surge ahead and catch John Stephen.

I really like, respect and admire Karen Testerman, but she could do more good at this point by endorsing either Stephen or Kimball, giving one of them a boost in the home-stretch, with her loyal, respectable following.

Poll #2:  WMUR Granite State Poll, for Congressional Districts 1 and 2, conducted by the UNH Survey Center, published on July 29, 2010…

Hodespocrisy–The Menendez Chronicles

Being as concerned as they are about ethics and corruption (over at the offices of the New Hampshire Democrat Party) you’d think Paul ‘Jersey’ Hodes would have refused that $10,000.00 campaign contribution from Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ).  Menendez is a long time benefactor of corrupt SEC violator Goldman Sachs (see below) and being from Jersey’s most corrupt Hudson county Menendez has been linked to any number of ethical "misunderstandings" throughout his career.

What kind of misunderstandings you ask?

Blame Congress

As we consider the economic and political situation some folks are clinging to the ‘Blame Bush’ rhetoric while others are focusing on blaming Obama.  While there is blame aplenty in varying amounts, the one consistent factor they share is the one we have the best opportunity to resove in November. They Both shared a democrat … Read more

Blame Lynch

Blame%20Lynch.JPGCourtesy of haystack over at RedState (Dave Poff, who lives in New Hampshire now by the way) we get word of the particulars on the passage of a funding bill in which was stuffed a union hand out disguised as a job creator along with federal money for Medicaid payments.

Adding a thought to what skip provided, and Drew Kline’s initial post on the Binnie Camp’s response to the Cornerstone Ad.  Binnie ‘did call a lawyer’ when he didn’t understand.  The lawyers did not understand either; that Cornerstone is a New Hampshire group founded by who, Karen Testerman?  Yeah, she’s that out of state girl…running for governor … Read more

Hodespocrisy–“It’s Not A Schoomah”

It's Not A Toomah! In keeping with the holier than thou New Hampshire Democrat Party “rules” committee’s abhorrence of money from ‘corrupt’ sources, we bring you Chuck Schumer, New York Senator, Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, and committee member on Banking, Finance, and judiciary.  He has also stained Paul Hodes already questionable reputation with dirty money–$10,000.00 dollars worth of it.

Remember all those Wall Street firms Hodes was standing against? You know, the Wall Street vs. Main Street smackdown. The big bank vs. small bank rhetoric.   Well Hodes can probably thank them for the $10,000.00 dollars he got from Schumer.  Senator Schumer gets ‘fed’ by all of the bailed out boys and girls (and those in between), including an eye-popping career sum from SEC violators Goldman Sachs.  Goldman has shoveled almost half a million of its greedy dollars to Schumer– 486,000.00.  And Schumer’s total career “take” from the evil anti-main Street banking crowd is a paltry $7,000,000.00 million.

Can you hear the crickets over at the NHDP headquarters. Loud little bastards aren’t they?

Another message to US Senator from NH, Judd Gregg

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo…

Finally, something positive to write about…

We, who call ourselves Conservative Patriots, and who claim membership in the "912" and "Tea Party" community, know that race is not part of it at all – it’s only about policy.

And, just because Barack Obama is a person of color, we are told, by pinheads in parts of the media, that we are racist when we criticize him or his actions.

I just saw this video on Facebook and it apparently took place yesterday morning.  It is from the Project 21 "Black Conservative National Press Club Conference".  It is so, so gratifying to see these folks stand up and defend the "Tea Party" and Conservative community that we all belong to.  If you hear it from these folks, that the Tea Party movement is not about race, and you still believe it, well, I can’t do a damn thing to change your mind.  But, if you are a rational, thinking person, and see this for yourself, then you have to admit that it’s true.

Lloyd Marcus, of the Tea Party Express, is also a driver behind this important message.

Maybe we just took one step closer to REALLY becoming a post-racial society, despite what Liberals have done to ensure that we never get there.

We probably won’t see THIS on the Main-Stream media either, but let me know if you do!

CLEAR gets KO’d For Now

Oil and GasWith bi-partisan support the Senate has blocked a new energy tax passed by the House that would have hit the middle class and working families right in their shrinking wallets.  The CLEAR act, a job killing tax raising attempt by House democrats beholden to radical environmentalists, would have driven energy industry jobs out of America by the thousands while raising taxes on oil and natural gas.  It also would have increased our dependency on foreign energy, enriching countries that just a few years ago the democrats were claiming should not be getting wealthy on the backs of hard working Americans.  Yet here we are with 10% or more of the population out of work or underemployed  and the disconnected ruling-class House democrats are passing massive new energy taxes and shifting more American dollars off shore to places they themselves have said do not have our best interests at heart.

Morons? Hard to tell. This looks like an intentional effort to make energy more expensive so their green lobby campaign donors and the deep pocketed environmental justice crowd can make the even more expensive ‘so-called’ alternative more attractive.  Whatever the goal the pain and suffering this new tax burden and job loss would place upon average families, and single moms with kids is unconscionable and the left could care less.

A simple practical example of the same service performed by the private sector vs the public sector

Coming home from San Diego, I ran into a very simple, but powerful example of the difference of how the same service was done by a private sector entity vs a public sector service: a bus.

Avis: taking the bus to the Terminal after dropping off the rental car.

Avis Bus

Not a new one, but in very good condition.  It was clean to the point of being spotless, maintenance was absolutely up to date from a cosmetic standpoint: the carpeting on the baggage holders was in good repair

  • the  seat cushions were looking clean and well cared for
  • the floor had no stains
  • and I only saw a couple of small instances of paint chipping.

Oh yeah, and the glass was clean too and it "smelled" clean.

Having to go between Terminal 2 and Terminal 1, I took public sector "Red Bus"

First impression was of the driver.  My knee buckled and I had a problem trying to hoist my rolling bag up the front steps – he just sat there and looked as if I was a mere inconvenience – I got more of a response from one of the passengers for assistance than him.  Frankly, take all of the "good" items from the Avis bus, and turn them 180 and that pretty much sums it up.

Oh, and it needed a tuneup too (running rather roughly).

Why the difference?  Sad sack there could have cared less…

Don’t worry, Democrat Progressives will figure out a way to protest this too

A great letter from Dan Boudreaux (Cafe Hayek) about the Left’s "selective" outrage on inequality: Like Michael Smith, I don’t suffer from the “Progressive” itch for income equality (Letters, Aug. 3).  Not only does achievement of such “equality” require the state to treat people unequally, obsession with income equality also reflects a Scrooge-like fetish for … Read more

Notes on the 17th Amendment

The 17th Amendment – the one that shifted the election of Senators from the State Legislators (a key part of holding the power of Federal Government in check vis-a-vis that of the States) was flogged by Progressives at the turn of the last century as being "anti-cronyism".  Why shouldn’t the public vote on Senators?

Much to the delight of Progressives, it passed – IMHO, it set the stage to vastly increase the power of the Federal government.  Why?  The "power governor" (like the speed governor in a car) that kept the States in the game that put the States’ rights and interests first was gone (watch the videos here and here from a 912er).  Obamacare – would it have passed?    Boortz has more thoughts (and a recap of the NH CD-1 Candidates thoughts after the jump):

Can you imagine how our own battle with illegal immigration might be different if the Senators still represented state governments? Illegals cost state governments tens of billions of dollars. The children of illegals have to be educated and their emergency medical needs must be tended to. Then there is the crime costs associated with illegals. Here are just a few estimates of the cost of illegal immigration to some individual states:

    * Florida: At least $2 billion a year.
    * California: Over $10 billion a year.
    * Kansas: (yes … Kansas) $442 million a year.

And then there’s Arizona … the cost there is over $1.3 billion a year. Arizona tries to do something to solve the problem. It’s clear that the federal government will do nothing to control illegal immigration so long as The Community Organizer is in office … so the Arizona legislature steps up. As soon as Arizona passes its law many other states reveal plans to do the same. The Obama steps up and orders the Justice Department to file a lawsuit against Arizona … to sue Arizona for its attempt to enforce laws that the federal government refuses to support. How might this have all been different if Arizona, New Mexico and all of the other states considering passing laws to stem the invasion of illegals had official representation in Washington in the person of two Senators each?

Then there’s the issue of unfunded mandates. Medicaid…
