Just Another Day In The Village

In a tweet posted a few days ago, State Democrat Party Propaganda minister Harrell “Jersey Shore” Kirstein basically threw Governor John Lynches signature program to reduce High School drop out rates under the bus.  No, he didn’t intend to do that but the tweet included a link to a Nashua Telegraph opinion piece by a local woman whose daughter had run off and stopped attending High School as a result of a funding cut to another program.  So much for the drop out rate.

Despite that Kirstein still seems content to use this one parent and one child as props for the Progressive party agenda attack on a legislature that refuses to run the soaring deficits of its democrat predecessors.
But if that argument is even a remotely credible then that same “student” must not only be an indictment against John Lynches faux-reporting changes that “improved” drop out rates, but also on the Lefts decades long obsession with exposing kids to the so-called superior environment of a government run school system.  They clearly can’t manage to keep the kids coming back to the classroom without forcing taxpayers to spend millions more on additional state funded programs in addition to the millions spent on public education.  Given all those millions, shouldn’t this girl just love public school?

Wednesday, Public Service of New Hampshire President Gary Long went before The Governor and Executive Council and members of the Public Utilities Commission and shamelessly defended PSNH’s dismal response to the Halloween Snow storm that left thousands without power.

As conveyed in the Union Leader story yesterday, Long blamed the weather and trees, not PSNH and told the council he was, “quite proud of PSNH’s tremendous efforts,” calling the storm response “a success story.” Long took no responsibility. He even went so far as to blame customers, saying that all of the outages were caused by trees, most of which are were, outside the trim zone, fingering state laws for he says makes it hard to trim the trees. He blamed the rate payer for, “not being adequately prepared.”

Maybe We Should Call Them “Lefts?”

Former John Edwards supporter and leader of what used to be NH Freedom to Marry, director Mo Baxley, is having a rough November.  Maybe not as rough as denying to herself and her credibility for what must have felt like years, that Edwards was not in fact the total scum bag he turned out to be; but then having your out-of-state sugar daddy cut your funding (after whining about other groups out of state funding), and having them give it to some other group to do what you thought you were doing, well that’s just got to hurt.

Or maybe not.  The facade fell as fast as the paycheck so maybe we’re looking at the total package.  A hypocrite who liked to insist that people denounce her definition of hate, racism, or bigotry or be marked as complicit in it, but who never once held her Democrat accomplices to the same standard.

A recent case in point?  Taylor Garrett, Republican, Christian, Homosexual, assaulted in what is being described as  a hate crime against a gay man.  (…)

Hmmm! From a letter to the editor in The Wall Street Journal on Nov. 30, 2011:

"In 1860, zealous, right-wing Christian conservatives found a home in the Republican Party and helped elect Abraham Lincoln. Stopping Washingon’s growth today should be a great deal easier than ending slavery (and absolutely no moral equivallence is implied or appropriate in that observation)…."

WRONG: There IS moral equivalence, and stating it IS appropriate.

Live blogging – Herman Cain’s event in Manchester

Well, I got here what I thought was very early as I had been told that the “Volunteers” part of the evening was to be around 7:30pm. So, I arrived about 6:20 – and all of the street parking was already taken. Three satellite trucks (Channel 9 from NH, NECN for New England, and MyFox out of Boston) had already set up camp and running cabling. While the campaign office was pretty empty when I first arrived, it is since (as at 7:30pm or so), it has pretty much filled up with almost as many volunteer as media (a camera is trained on me as I type as they are getting B-roll).

The volunteers, for the most part, are rather angry – not at Herman but what seems to be the media and the “dirty tricks” that seem to go along with every major campaign. One lady came down from Augusta, ME to be here to show support – her mood was as red as her jacket. Another, a teacher, was also here in support not happy with the current events.

Tonite was a great “teachable moment” in how the MSM can make anyone appear in a bad light – all it takes is an uppity attitude, a whiny voice, a TV camera, and a pre-determined narrative.

I made it downstairs it to the press availability (already in progress) after the event – it was CLEAR that the press had an agenda and they were pursuing it like sharks attracted by chum in the water. All of the reporters there were yelling to get their questions answered – decorum?  What’s that? – and they were all of a single mind with the narrative of “when are you going to quit?!?!?!?!?!”  and they all seemed to be flummoxed that he hadn’t already quit already.

All I could think of was “Gee, mainstream press, how come the ONLY one of you lot that pursued the John Edwards story with equal vigor was…the National Enquirer?”  Remember, that story turned out to be true, actually turned out to be great gumshoeing and reporting, and the MSM elite elite denied them a Pulitzer Prize because of they were a “grocery store tabloid”.

Repost: You Can’t Be A “Republican” And Vote Against Right To Work

(Originally posted September 21st, this seems like a suitable follow up to yesterdays post.  The premise?  Refusing to allow conscientious objection to union participation forces people to fund the Democrat agenda.  How can you claim to support Republican principles when you refuse to allow people the ability to opt out of paying union dues.)

You Can’t Be A Republican And Vote Against Right To Work

Supporting forced unionization is the same as supporting mandatory campaign contributions to the Unions and the Democrat party.  There is no conceivable way to separate the two.  Unions are funded by dues.  Democrats receive millions of dollars from unions to promote their agenda.  And in some cases to promote it violently.

Republican Defectors

I think I made my point about Right To Work clear enough when I said this…

 A vote to sustain the Lynch Veto and permit forced unionization is a vote for the mandatory and state funding of abortion;  financing efforts to cripple or bypass our second amendment right to self defense; you are supporting state financed birth control, confiscation of property, increased taxation and broad based taxes, an expanding regulatory state and more centralized top down government, gimmick accounting, Gay marriage, genderless bathrooms,  seat belt laws, the food police, socialized medicine, restrictions on free and corporate speech, and the entire manifold of Democrat party policy wishes which those dollars will continue to support and advance as long as workers are denied the opportunity to decide if they are willing to fund these policies or not on their own.

Unfortunately for New Hampshire we’ll have to wait until next year to fix the problem of worker choice but in the mean time, we can enjoy the benefit of the roll call vote, posted on the Jump.

Be Pro-Choice: Vote For The Right To Abort Unions.

If unions were abortions everyone would have the right to chose not to be party to it. Some liberal justice would have long ago ensconced that “right” into the US Constitution. And we would not be having this debate in New Hampshire. Workers could decide if they wanted to abort the union. But Democrats are hypocrites and choice shall not be permitted in the workplace. You will not, cannot be permitted to choose for yourself.

So, let’s be clear about this because whatever “this” is, amounts to nothing more than  another wanton pedestrian rant of the Shrill Kathy.

In prior writings, The Shrill Kathy calls out O’Brien alleging that he fails to respect the process and ignores long-standing rules. Yet here we see a circumstance where Orly Taitz asked for access and redress (due process) that our rules mandate must be provided.  And the Shrill Kathy takes O’Brien to task for not stifling that process. Make up your mind! Sulli-Shrill… Which is it? O’Brien squelches? or O’Brien observes?

CONCORD, N.H.—Because the right to freely associate is fundamental to liberty in a free market economy, the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire has decided to use the Right to Work override vote as a litmus test for candidates running for reelection in 2012.

To be clear: any representative or senator who votes to sustain the governor’s veto of the Right to Work bill, HB 474, will not receive an endorsement or assistance of any kind from the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire during the 2012 election cycle. In some cases, the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire will actively support these incumbents’ opponents in their primary elections, especially if those opponents pledge to support a Right to Work law.

A note on the Herman Cain news

Well, we all know what the latest Prez Primary news is – another allegation concerning Herman Cain.  Yes, GraniteGrok endorsed Mr. Cain (before all these allegations started).  Knowing that, someone asked me, last nite, what I thought about them; my response (edited to add additional thoughts):

Boy, SOMEbody wanted him out of the race BADLY.  And I think with this, they may have succeeded with the last nail whether or not the allegation is true or not.  Even if this is politics, our system is to presume innocence before guilt.  Yet, we all know that perception is reality in this sphere.

You know, I was going to post some thoughts on this post as I agreed with it: 

On Sunday evening, October 30, Politico broke the story that two women had complained about Herman Cain while at the National Restaurant Association.  In that first week, Politico ran several dozen stories about the accusations without telling us what the accusations were, while characterizing the accusations as sexual harassment.

During the subsequent three weeks, the name of one of the accusers in the Politico story, Karen Kraushaar, was released, but she has refused to release details of the accusations she made, despite initially indicating she would do so, and it turns out this was not her only employment complaint.  Another accuser with a dubious background, Sharon Bialek, came forward, but she was not part of the original Politico story and her supposed corroboration also was suspect.

While the media regularly referred to 4 or 5 accusers, we only knew the names of two of them and only knew the accusations of one of them.

But back to Politico.

After hundreds of articles at Politico, what do we know about the specific accusations against Herman Cain which gave rise to Politico’s original reporting:  Nothing.

The post from where the above came from is about the European Euro mess – first Greece, now Portugal and Italy are on the brink (with Ireland having already taken its fiscal medicine).  In all cases, the pols there did what the Dems (and Repubs to a bit lesser degree) have done for decades – used other peoples money to achieve fame, notoriety, and votes. 

Thanks to the "Euro Union" where the currency is one but the political (and fiscal) outlooks are multiples, Germany’s taxpayers have already shelled out billions of euros to rescue the idea of the euro being a uniter (the Greeks merely being the stage on which the Eurocrats are pontificating "we are one – we MUST stay as one or bad things will happen" even as that ‘bad thing’ is already in process).  But I digress.  Look at that line again:

The thought that immediately ran through my mind was "But doesn’t the Left ALWAYS do that – gather the lemmings together?"

Not every problem has a solution (even though the Left believes there is – or at least, the Political Class does; at a minimum, the Political Class or thinks it has to "do something" about a problem).  Neither does every problem needs everyone’s attention.  Let me pile on – not every problem requires we to be in "all for one mode".

WHY does the Left believe that every problem (for when there really is a problem) can only be solved with everyone’s action?  Why does the Left believe that making a probelm everyone elses problem will actually involve / get everyone active about it?
