Six Things Other Governments Provide for which Americans Still Have to Pay…

I was just minding my own business when this headline scrolled its way before my eyes. “6 things other governments provide that Americans still have to pay for.”

I think it should read “Six things other governments provide for which Americans still have to pay,” but I can write in cursive and also believe that there are thousands of buying decisions laundered through government that every-day Americans are more qualified to make, including the six things in this MSN article.

The Left Means to Rule us at Our Own Expense

David Bernstein, writing at the Volokh Conspiracy, has some excellent thoughts on human nature and the compulsion for oppression. Reading it I am reminded of its application to current events. The public rise of Antifa. The open advocacy of the use of force to silence political opponents. The abuses of the bureaucracy in pursuit of partisan political gain. The inherited privilege of the ruling class exemplified in what has been colloquially defined as ‘The Swamp.’

DISQUS Doodlings – This isn’t how ANY of this works, Bruce!

Well, Peter’s post “Republicans must not cower in the face of Democratic treachery” is getting a bunch of traction in the comments section and as I do from time to time, I mix it up in the comments instead of just putting my thoughts here on the front page.  This time, I just couldn’t help myself in keeping it short and when I was done with one comment by Bruce Currie.

Sidenote: one of the few Liberals that come here to joist with us, I give him the rubric of “honest Liberal” as he is almost always consistent in his views and tries to have a decent conversation; I am hoping he’ll come to one of our MeetUps so as to meet him in person!

Anyways, near the current end of the DISQUS section, he left this on the ongoing allegation concerning Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, Bruce Brett Kavanaugh (emphasis mine, H/T: To commenters Paul and Allen for spotting the error):

After Action Report: ‘Grok MeetUp at the Londonderry Fish and Game Club yesterday

“…and the whole screen goes blue…the tannerite was so hot it shifted the colors..everything else was that cool in comparison…”

Well, the skies were clear, a nip of autumn was in the air (but still short sleeve weather for most), the smell of hot dogs (DANG – I forgot to bring my chili!) and hamburgers was in the air.  And the firing of guns – including some sub-machine guns and a couple of belt-fed .30 (and was one a .50?) kept the background atmosphere perfect for talks about politics.  Lots of subjects but especially that of the recent Primary election results and talk of what might happen in the General Election.  Especially since Republican candidate for US Congress in the Second District Steve Negron and family showed up. In all, about 15 – 20 folks showed up in total – I was a bit disappointed hoping that the LFGC gun ranges might have enticed a few more folks but hey, that’s how it goes!

Oh, that image above?  From commenter Allen’s SEEK IR camera attachment?  The video of me

Data Point: So the next time Democrats (especially NH ones) say we need policies like Europe

Decisions have consequences. So do policies.  And while Democrats all over keep insisting that “we’re the only industrialized nation that doesn’t <insert their latest policy complaint here>”, they aren’t all that willing to talk about the consequences of their policies.

Like Venezuela (but the right people haven’t done Socialism right – WE CAN DO IT! Just ask Molly Kelly, the financial advisor genius). And, pretty much, most of Europe.  So, why do the Dems want us to be more like them when our standard of living (mostly) is far better than theirs?

Chuck Schumer

From my stack of stuff – Chuckie Schumer is wrong about the Presidency

“The job of the President is to make Americans’ lives better.”

Note: this was supposed to be a Quick Thought.  Once again, it didn’t turn out that way.

Really?  That’s the main purpose of being President? That line, by the way, was from US Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on  ” This week with Georgie Steaphanopoulos” back on March 16, 2018

Hmmm. Now I realize that I’m not bonafide Constitutional scholar but I do read it, I bet, much more often than most.  I am confused, however, as I’ve never read that in the US Constitution.  He’s a sitting Senator (been there so long I can’t understand why he hasn’t already calcified in place), and he and I (both of us being elected officials) swore oaths of allegiance to protect said Constitution – wouldn’t that ALSO mean knowing what it says and doing nothing that would violate its precepts.

So what does the Constitution actually say about his duties?

Liz Warren’s Constituents Don’t Want Her to be Their President

Liz Warren says she isn’t running for President but seeing as she has a reputation for stretching the truth this might prove useful if, in fact, she is building a ground game for a run in 2020.

A new poll has only 32% of Warren’s constituents thinking she should run for president and a whopping 58% think she should not.

Presumption of Guilt – Another Reason to Oppose The Left

Differing on matters of policy is one thing but the New Left’s presumption of guilt, at least as it applies to presumed political opponents, is despotic. It must be opposed as should be any member of the Democrat Party who condones it.

From the Wall Street Journal c/o Instapundit.

As Ms. Hill and Sen. Hirono aver, the Democratic standard for sexual-assault allegations is that they should be accepted as true merely for having been made. The accuser is assumed to be telling the truth because the accuser is a woman. The burden is on Mr. Kavanaugh to prove his innocence. If he cannot do so, then he is unfit to serve on the Court.

Your Individual Right to Self Defense

DONATE $10.00 TO PROTECT THE FIRST TEN AMENDMENTS

Writing for the majority in District of Columbia v. Heller, Justice Antonin Scalia observed that,

“Nowhere else in the Constitution does a “right’ attributed to ‘the people’ refer to anything other than an individual right.”

The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is an individual right protected by the Constitution. It’s time for New Hampshire to send someone to Washington who recognizes that.

Dartmouth’s Ideological Free Speech Divide: Why Democrats Need to Lose Again in 2018

Reposted: Originally Published May 30, 2018

A few days ago, we reported on a survey of Dartmouth student’s that questions their tolerance and diversity when it comes to dating, befriending, or just interacting with someone who has opposing political beliefs. There were no surprises. Democrats shunned the idea while Republicans were much more accepting.

Further down in the same survey were data about how these students view Free Speech on campus.

Congressional Democrats Suddenly Don’t Want “Collusion” Documents Declassified

Democrats have been demanding transparency. When the recent FISA application was released with redactions at least a few of them are said to have claimed that there were more damning details under those redactions.

I guess that’s true.

When Mr. Trump approved the declassification of some of those documents last week, Congressional Democrats lined up to stop it.

Some Documents “Climate” Colluders Don’t Want Released

If there are documents available that make your case on your view of things you’d want the people to see them, yes? No!

While Congressional Democrats wrestle with their own sudden disinterest in transparency, some “climate” scientists are bemoaning a court order forcing the publicly funded university for whom they work to release emails in response to a 7-year old freedom of information act request (FOIA).

Emails that include conversations “related to the Mann-Bradley-Hughes temperature reconstruction.” The infamous Hockey Stick upon which the Climate Cult bases its’ hysteria.

Everytown Endorses Anti-Gunners in NH Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties

[Art.] 2-a. [The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.
December 1, 1982

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

So, these anti-gun and anti-NH Constitution candidates have been endorsed by Big Democrat money (Nanny Bloomberg who keeps this group alive) “Everytown For Gun Safety” (incremental civilian disarmament is more truthful) Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties.

The Danger That Can Come To Your Children Attending a Public School in NH

Many people have never heard the name Glenn Cordelli, but if you are a parent, you should get to know him.  Glenn Cordelli is a state representative in New Hampshire serving in Moultonborough, Sandwich, and Tuftonboro.  He finished up his third term, and will hopefully be elected for a fourth term in November.

Representative Glenn Cordelli recently put forth a Bill that would require each local education agency to develop a local data security plan. HB1612 was signed into law by Governor Sununu in August, and now school boards across New Hampshire will have to develop a Data Inventory Security Plan.

This is such an important issue now in public education that the FBI has issued warnings to parents:

A commentary on Liberals and Kavanaugh by Kurt Schlichter

I can’t always pull quotes or adequately summarize his Townhall columns but they are really amusing and will become part of my contributions to Grok 3.0 “Around the Web” (or as Steve calls it: “Stuff we’d like to blog about but haven’t had the time,” which I think is a more descriptive title).  So here he is in his own video podcast, “TAKE THAT! with Kurt Schlichter” on the Democrat agenda of personal destruction aimed at Conservatives:

UN Environment Chief’s Oversized Carbon Footprint

If you’re going to educate the world about the dangers of carbon dioxide you’re going to have to emit some carbon dioxide, right? And that’s not just from talking.

A draft internal audit, obtained by the Guardian and seen by the BBC, says that Erik Solheim’s actions risked the reputation of UN Environment. The report says he incurred costs of $488,518 (£373,557) while traveling for 529 out of 668 days.
