From my stack of stuff: well, wasn’t Charle McMahon a bit smug and condescending?

This is left over from the Windham (NH) Primary debate where one of the moderators was Ken Eyring – one of the most gentle, self-controlled, and smartest guys I know.  Always prepared, always does his homework; he was treated rather badly by one of the candidates in the debate: RINO, Charlie McMahon (an incumbent Republican).

I’ve put the full transcript of this clip after the jump.  I’m putting this up for a few reasons:

  • First, McMahon is aloof, smarmy, and certainly full of himself
  • He also doesn’t want to be held to account – listen to he words and watch his demeanor – it is clear he doesn’t want to be challenged like this in an open forum
  • Full disclosure – I consider Ken my friend and I can tell you, being called intellectually unready is about the biggest insult you could call Ken.  The fact that McMahon would say that and then deny that he was being respectful is the height of actually being disrepectful.
  • Listen to his arguments – they don’t match up with what Ken has said about the bill WHICH KEN HAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. He knows he’s been caught and caught badly but attempts to bluster his way out of the trap he set for himself when he signed up for being a co-sponsor.

Finally, what the HECK is this “Republican” doing working to create an almost involuntary plan (we wrote about HB628 extensively here on GraniteGrok – we read the bill too!) and by definition, with an income tax? Somebody put an ejection seat under him and push the button, please:

A personal endorsement for Harry Bean for NH House from Gilford / Meredith:

To the Daily Sun,

This Letter is written in support of Harry Bean for the NH House of Representatives to represent the Belknap District 2 residents of Gilford and NH. I served with Harry last year on the Gilford Budget Committee and had many talks about how he sees our town, our State, and our Nation. A quiet man, whose family’s roots in Gilford span back to the 1800s, this veteran is dedicated to this town and to the Principles to which he swore his oath. He understands well the age old issue in politics of needs versus wants having been a long time entrepreneur – he knows how those decisions have affected both his family and those families that his business serves. He knows that “faux” compassion shown by his Democrat opponents, their insistence that “we must invest more” is simply that – just a smooth, silky voiced way to take money away from regular work-a-day families that may be struggling to put food on the table simply so that they can spend it on their “more proper” priorities than what those families would otherwise do.

Common sense – he is that to his core.

Harry Bean – Candidate for NH House in Belknap District 2 (Gilford / Meredith)

To The Daily Sun,

The campaign signs and the mailings of the Democrat candidates for state rep (Gilford/Meredith) speak about “compassion” for county funding. I guess that they are unaware that their Republican counterparts this year overfunded the county by approximately one million dollars. These Democrats are beating their chests about their “compassion” by campaigning to spend even more for public schools, addiction recovery and health care.

What they won’t do is to be honest that your bank account exists to be an open-ended check to go fund their “compassions.” What they don’t seem to have is any real compassion for the fixed and low-income taxpayers who will be footing the taxes for their higher spending. But the Democrats don’t care about them — they only want more for government.
