Election Quick Thought – NH Secretary of State race

With the Dems now taking over, the next race is who will be the next Secretary of State?  Will upstart and attention-seeking (and loud mouth) Colin Van Ostern cash in on this Democrat Socialist wave?

Or will Bill Gardner, SecState since dirt was created but by all seems to be a stalwart defender of the FITN Primary, be reelected?

My quick thought is both “yes” and “no.”  CVN has campaigned, campaigned long, and campaigned loudly for the position – effectively politicizing the office in his race. For the last 42 years, however, Bill Gardner has quietly gone about his way doing the job and been reelected by the NH State Legislature every session since 1976. Will this Dem turn around turn Gardner out (can we then accuse them of ageism, given he’s 70 and CVO is a mere child of 39)?  I don’t think they’ve forgiven him for his decision to go on Trump’s Voter Fraud committee – and they will punish him for that.  Then there’s this; remember the phrase

“It isn’t who votes that counts – it is who counts the votes that counts”

(or “Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything.” or some variation thereof). While that line is attributable to former Soviet Communist head Joseph Stalin, it is clear that George Soros’s money has been worked into many SecState races over the last few years (notable in Minnesota when Al Franken was elected by box after box of newly “discovered” stuffed ballot boxes that hitherto for had no existence at all).  Was CSV funded in part by Soros?  Good question but haven’t looked.  The bigger question is “would that matter to the NH Dems that will vote on this office if he has?”

I think not. It is the Progressives that have politicized everything these last two decades – I don’t think they care a hoot about politicizing this office at all.
