Gosh, what an eye-opener, given that all the folks that are virtue-yelling at the rest of us are Fine Upstanding People of the Progressive Nature. They are the ones that are wailing about their White Guilt and yet here they are opposing a school integration program with poor kids of color.

That prostrate themselves before the altar of Black Lives Matter. March against the rest of us (with the political tide is turning as we look at them in amusement). For all that, perhaps not?
Angry White parents gripping picket signs. People making death threats and a piece of hate mail reading “Blacks destroy school systems.” Community panic about school desegregation orders.
Sidenote: at least, unlike the AP, CNN has decided to capitalize White when it comes to skin color. I just bolded it to make it stand out. How nice of them…
But this wasn’t archival footage of White Southerners from the 1960s. This took place last year in Howard County, Maryland, a suburban community that prides itself on racial integration. It was there that progressive White parents mobilized with other groups to try to stop a school integration plan that would bus poor students, who were mostly Black and brown, to more affluent, whiter schools.
And yet, these were the kinds of people that were berating the working families about being bigots and racists, back in the day, in Southie (that would be South Boston) after a judge took over control of the entire Boston School system for integration reasons. Sorry, they were pukes then and remain pukes today. It’s fine for them to get all preachy to the rest of us – until it comes REAL close to home.
Willie Flowers, the father of two eighth-grade boys in Howard County schools, was stunned by the ferocity of the resistance. He says it was a flashback to the type of racism he encountered attending schools with Whites in the South. “I’m from Alabama and I thought I was escaping that type of nonsense,” says Flowers, who is president of the NAACP Maryland State Conference. “There have been cases of Confederate flags at high school football games, racial epitaphs.”
In 2020, White support for the Black Lives Matter movement is at an all-time high. People are buying so many books on antiracism that booksellers are having trouble keeping them in stock. A commentator said the George Floyd protests that erupted this spring may lead to “audacious steps to address systemic racial inequality — bold, sweeping reparative action.”
I’m not so sure that the above assertion is all that true – and given the riots that the Black Liberal Mafia has created in Democrat-run urban areas, what might have been a good thing at the time is dissolving quickly as THEIR true selves are taking advantage of things. But I have a hard time with the following as well:
There can’t be real change until White people are willing to give up some power and resources where they live, says Matthew Delmont, author of “Why Busing Failed: Race, Media, and the National Resistance to School Desegregation.”
“The sign that change is real as opposed to symbolic is that people are making real changes to things close to them in their own backyards, such as supporting more affordable housing in their neighborhood, or programs that would integrate schools,” says Delmont, a history professor at Dartmouth College. But many Whites, he says, have never been willing to take that step.
“Broadly speaking, White Americans and other people with socio-economic status have to be willing to give up something to have a more just and equitable society.”
Why is all the talk nowadays about “giving up” instead of “earning it”? Why are we seeing all this “redistribution” via White Guilt (or Culture Guilt or Socioeconomic Guilt or whatever variations of “Guilt that other Progressives and grifters can think of)? Remember, “equity” and “equitable” are just the latest definitions of the Democrat version of “I’m going to TAKE something from you to make me feel good”:
- “We’re going to take things away from you” – Hillary Clinton, June 2004
- Former MA Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA): “Yes, there is a role for morality in government. Of course there is,” said Frank, during the DOMA debate. “The government has an absolute overriding duty to enforce morality in interpersonal relations.”
- Nicholas Kristof, liberal columnists: Universities are the bedrock of progressive values, but the one kind of diversity that universities disregard is ideological and religious. We’re fine with people who don’t look like us, as long as they think like us.” Kristof writes in admitting liberal privilege and bias and showing how it’s hypocritical.
- Al Sharpton – noted “Reverend”, race-baiter, and famous tax-cheat: “While the rest of the country waves the flag of Americana, we understand we are not part of that. We don’t owe America anything – America owes us.”
Yeah, how much “workforce” housing is in Delmont’s neighborhood, that rich and tony bastion of Hanover, NH? Has he put his own money where his mouth is? Most likely not but I’d be glad to be proven wrong.
Here’s the rub that Progressives won’t allow for – a lot of people work HARD for their status in life and if they have worked their fingers to the bone to achieve some modicum of success and stepped up in life for their families, why would they then be happy to just see it “given” to others.
Progressives and race-baiters (yep, this is just a rerun picture writ small of Obama’s AFFH suburban busting Federalization of local zoning laws) either haven’t figure out or won’t admit that it isn’t the location, it’s the culture.
Yes, I said it. Just because you put folks into a rich suburban neighborhood, it doesn’t mean that the attributes that got them there are immediately transferred to poor people that are dropped in there. Without any recognition of THAT factor, all they’re doing is wasting money and making everyone miserable. You see, Envy is a horrible disease, especially when you are stoking it and then have no actual skin in a game you’re foisting upon others.
In short, they have it backward – and can’t bring themselves to admit it. One of the Fatal Conceits of Progressivism.
Ah, but NUMBYs! When the rubber hits the road and “stuff gets real”, their true natures comes out and it certainly doesn’t match the PR wonderland they’ve built around their personas. Turns out they AREN’T the people they believe they are and who they want us see as well
