Even in politics, the Laws of Motion reigns:
Third Law: When one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first body
Except in politics, that “opposite in direction” can end up being FAR larger if you define politics NOT just elected representatives (and the campaigns they wage) formulating law but in the broader sense of “how people interact with each other via norms and traditions”, especially when elected representatives vote in terms of ideology and not in terms of what their constituents want. I am sensing that there is going to be a HUGE blowback by Normal people to this Black Lives Mafia political push shove movement if it continues to result in this from the police in talking about criminals who get up into your face:
BE PREPARED TO GIVE UP YOUR CELL PHONE AND WALLET….DO WHAT THEY SAY
Minneapolis Police Advise: Surrender Your Property to the Criminals and Obey Them
Fighting crime in Minneapolis has been a mess since the riots flared up in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Radical leftists even completely torched the 3rd Precinct which was the precinct Floyd died in. Instead of concentrating on crime, the politicians have been involved in trying to defund the police at the very time they are critically needed. There have been over 100 robberies and 20 carjackings in July alone. That’s a tremendous amount of violence in the estimation of the police.
Now with crime spiraling out of control, the Minneapolis Police has issued advice to residents on how to deal when facing a robbery or a carjacking.

This is why we have the Second Amendment – the Right to self-defense via the keeping and bearing of arms.
Got that? I’ve always said that I believe that a limited govt is best but that each level of govt has certain services it should provide. I have always put the Dept of Public Works first (they keep the streets open every day) and the Second Responders (WE are our own First Reponders) of Police and Fire Depts are second (and for the record, the Tax Collector is third).
So when the Safety folks can’t protect you as expected, what are you to think? Certainly that when Govt can’t stand up to its responsibility to keep The Rule of Law intact, we’ve not just reached a tipping point but a precipice. As Instapundit says:
Remember: Ultimately, cops aren’t there to protect the community from criminals. They’re there to protect criminals from the community. Communities dealt with crime for millennia before police were invented, usually with rather limited due process.
Once the general population “gets the message”, you get this:
Armed Minneapolis Residents Are Patrolling Their Own Neighborhoods As City Moves To Defund Police.
Minneapolis residents have begun patrolling their own neighborhoods after violent crime across the city surged in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death in late May.
The patrols, some armed, are part of a largely grassroots efforts to protect neighborhoods, businesses, and residents from rioters and criminals. Some groups have constructed barriers at the entrance to their neighborhoods and control who can enter, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Like I said, we are our own First Responders. All that Govt did was to “persuade us” to outsource that responsibility to them. Now that they are unable to actually do what it promised, wise men (and women) decided that they weren’t going to savaged by savages; Govt may soon find out that “shoot now, ask questions later” may well be a phrase that comes up a lot and Govt will only have itself to blame.
Worse, how long will it take for Trust to be reestablished? Oh, never mind – I hope it doesn’t. Too many people have become too complacent that Govt will “take care of them” – I AM hoping that this will result in a long lasting skepticism towards Government. It should also tamp down the outrageous promises that elected officials offer over what Govt should do for them but that may be pie in the sky. That said, this taking back responsibilities should result in people in being wary in again outsourcing their well being and, instead, instill a healthy dose of
“No thanks, I can take care of me and mine very well; now go away”.
