Republicans wants people to prosper & pursue their dreams

To The Daily Sun,

Republicans pursue policies which enable Americans to prosper and pursue their American dreams. Democrat politicians pursue policies that seem only intended to get political support, even when those policies hurt many Americans.

President Obama observed that slow economic growth and high unemployment might be the “new normal” that manufacturing jobs and the days of high economic growth were gone forever. That was true under his Democrat policies which caused most poor and middle income Americans to grow poorer, putting 13 million more people on welfare; while the rich prospered.

President Trump’s Republican policies have already created a rapidly (4.2 percent GDP) growing economy offering good full-time jobs, a growing manufacturing sector, 2.9 percent wage growth last year, and record low unemployment rates. Four million people already have left the welfare rolls. There are more job openings than “unemployed” people, so workers have more opportunities for better jobs and income.

Is Edwards just another fake Conservative?

Eddie Edwards announced that won’t participate in the Republican primary debate tonight because he refuses to commit to supporting Andy Sanborn should Sanborn win the Republican primary in the First Congressional District.  How can anyone claiming to be a Conservative not fight to elect a Republican, let alone a proven Conservative Republican, versus what promises to be another leftist Democrat?

“A nation exists to benefit its own citizens, not citizens of other countries”

Shaheen and Hassan love illegal immigrantsTo The Daily Sun,

Do you want illegal aliens here? James Vervaeke says “we” do (see Laconia Daily Sun, 7/24/18). I, and I suspect most Americans, don’t want them here. No one should be rewarded for breaking our laws, especially when so many illegal aliens harm American citizens and create a burden on American taxpayers. Yes, some illegal aliens come here for a better life, intending to be law-abiding and self-supporting, and work hard to support their families. But there are hundreds of millions of people who want to come here legally with the same intent, so we can and should pick and choose carefully.

A nation exists to benefit its own citizens, not citizens of other countries.

Do Americans Want Government by Consent of the Governed or by Judicial Tyranny?

Supreme_Court_Building_at_DuskThe kind of Supreme Court Justice someone wants indicates the kind of country he or she wants.  Does one want a government that abides by the consent of the governed, as envisioned by the authors of our Declaration of Independence, Constitution and laws passed by Congress, or a government controlled by a Judicial Oligarchy, five or more unelected, unaccountable, and fallible people that impose their will on the American people?

Donning a black robe doesn’t confer wisdom or divinity.  Supreme Court Justices made many bad decisions, e.g., approving slavery, “separate but equal”, and interning Japanese-Americans during WWII.  Recent decisions outrage Conservatives and Progressives, e.g., eminent domain (Kelo), Citizens United, gun control (Heller), and Obamacare.

Democrats make law-abiding people defenseless & criminals safer

James Earl Ray on Gun Controll

To The Daily Sun

The Great Mills High School shooting confirms the NRA’s claim that, “It takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun.” Fortunately an armed responder was close enough to the shooter to prevent more casualties.

Since the Parkland school shootings, outcries by Democrats and other leftists have demanded new gun control laws on law-abiding people which wouldn’t have stopped the shootings at Great Mills, or anyplace else. In fact, Democrats vehemently oppose what probably saved lives at Great Mills, armed response in school able to quickly confront a shooter.

These Democrat actions reveal that the Democrats’ goal isn’t to save lives but to make law-abiding people vulnerable to criminals. Other evidence includes:

Questions for Gun Grabbers

Parkland law enforcement and school administrators are desperate to divert attention from their many failures to enforce existing laws that allowed Nikolas Cruz to get a gun and massacre so many people.  Leftist politicians continue wanting schools to be “Gun Free Zones”, despite the fact that almost all public mass killings have been in “Gun Free Zones”.

Radical leftists including the media have used this horrible situation to manipulate desperate parents and students into hysterically demanding ever increasing elimination of our Second Amendment rights and fighting against the only thing that can provide protection, trained, armed protection among the school staff.

When you run into gun grabbers and people influenced by the hysteria, you might consider asking them:

Who Enabled Nikolas Cruz to Get a Gun Legally?

Apart from the shooter, the real culprits in the Parkland shooting are the people with the responsibility and the authority to protect the school and the public.  Prompted by self-interest and leftist ideology, the Sheriff and School Administrators conspired to ignore increasingly serious criminal offenses by students in order to claim great strides in improving student behavior.  As a result of these intentional actions the public was subject to increasingly more severe student committed crimes, student criminals weren’t punished and became emboldened, mentally disturbed students weren’t treated, and taxpayers were defrauded.

School Choice

Protect Schools or You’re Choosing to Let Children be Killed

After horrible shootings like at Parkland, it’s understandable that people might cast about thoughtlessly blaming people and demanding quick “solutions”.  Unfortunately leftist solutions so loudly and immediately promoted as “common sense” gun controls wouldn’t have prevented or stopped these attacks, and leftists fight against the obvious solution that could defeat such attacks.

The people like the NRA, Constitutionalists, lawful gun-owners, and others who fight for effective, rather than seductively sounding but totally ineffective, solutions are not to blame for these events.  Nor is the gun to blame.

People intent on killing can always find a way.  It’s easier to get a gun illegally than to buy one from a legal gun dealer.

Democrats want People Needing Handouts, Republicans want People to Prosper

Democrats hysterically lash out against President Trump because Democrats desperately need to divert attention from Democrat failures to improve the lives of most Americans and from President Trump’s successes in improving Americans’ lives.

During President Obama’s eight years only the rich prospered, most of the rest of us became poorer.  And Democrats continue opposing President Trump’s efforts to make Americans safer, freer, and more prosperous.

Democrats opposed the Trump tax cuts that let most Americans keep more of their own money and inspired nearly 200 companies to announce bonuses, increased wages, increased benefits, and/or investments to create more good American jobs.  Democrats oppose President Trump’s enforcing the immigration laws that many of these same Democrats voted for.

School choice poses no threat to great or good public schools

SchoolhouseTo The Daily Sun,

Reviewing his 1/9/18 column, one has to wonder if E. Scott Cracraft intentionally tries to mislead readers, if he just doesn’t care about children getting a decent start in life, if he’s blind to public education’s failures, or if he is afraid that children, educated outside of public schools, might learn to think for themselves and reject his progressive beliefs … or all of the above.

Cracraft suggests that the public hasn’t adequately supported public education, but that’s false! Public education costs have skyrocketed. Citizens have responded to public education demands for decades: more money, more teachers, computers, smaller class sizes, etc. Nevertheless public education fails to deliver decent educational opportunities to many students.

The Trump Tax Cut will benefit poor and middle income Americans

pdf header tax cuts jobs act2To the Editor:

Americans could almost be excused for believing the lie that the Trump tax cuts would harm poor and middle-income Americans because Democrat politicians and the mainstream media have been lying about it so persistently, enthusiastically, and authoritatively. But rational Americans have learned to question everything that Democrats, including most of the mainstream media, say.

The Trump tax cut will benefit poor and middle-income Americans; even the Washington Post admits that about 8 in every 10 Americans will see a tax cut next year. Working Americans should see the benefit in their February paychecks. Only about 5 percent of Americans, almost exclusively people with incomes in the top 10-15 percent, will have a tax increase.

“Many parents cannot afford private schools; SB-193 will help”

To The Daily Sun,

If a contractor did a good job for you but a bad job for your neighbor would you force your neighbor to keep rehiring the same contractor? Would you tell your neighbor to hire a second contractor to follow the first and fix the first contractor’s poor work? No.

But this is what happens with children’s education. Many public schools fail to provide a good educational opportunity to all students. And parents have to make up for public school deficiencies if they can.

Pro Athletes could be Constructive, Not Counterproductive and Disrespectful

Professional athletes could significantly help solve the problems that they complain about; unfortunately their disrespectful protests of our country are counter-productive, self-destructive, and alienate people who support and applaud constructive efforts to help America’s less fortunate. The saddest thing is that the athletes’ ill-considered protests may encourage more disobedience of and fights with police which may result in more avoidable deaths.

Professional athletes are welcomed in any American community. They could educate, encourage, and perhaps lead efforts in poor communities to pressure politicians to change the conditions that keep people and communities poor.

Americans need to Cherish Life, Not Surrender their Rights

Some wounded still hover between life and death.  The dead are not yet buried.  Americans mourn the dead and injured of the Las Vegas shootings.  We wonder how such an event could happen.

And leftists do what they always do; use a crisis to try to take away the rights of the more than 318 million Americans who didn’t harm anyone.

Make no mistake; leftists want to take away the American peoples’ Second Amendment rights.  Ignore their denials; occasionally leftists, like Senator Diane Feinstein, admit their goal.  They don’t want you to have guns for hunting, for target shooting, for other legal uses, and not even for self-defense.

According to leftists only police and rich leftists’ (whose lives are much more valuable than ours) personal security should have guns.

After each tragedy, e.g., Sandy Hook, Orlando, and Las Vegas, leftists immediately demand restricting the rights of law abiding American people with laws that wouldn’t have avoided any of the tragedies.

Confederate Symbols, Fake Issues, and a Misnamed Protest

The historical part of Alan Vervaeke’s August 22, 2017 column in the Laconia Daily Sun, www.laconiadailysun.com, titled, “Dead soldiers don’t keep the Confederacy alive”, was excellent. Some of his opinions deserve further consideration.

I agree with Vervaeke that it’s shortsighted to remove statues of Confederate warriors from any city. As he says, it’s their heritage. So I don’t understand his seemingly inconsistent suggestion to move them to a “national Civil War monument and museum”. It seems to me that having remembrances nearby make for convenient teaching tools about our and human history; putting them in a remote location hinders learning our good and bad history.

Northerners often jump to wrong conclusions about the Confederacy. Some Southern blacks recognize good things in their heritage and understand that eliminating remembrances of the Confederacy doesn’t solve a single current problem.
