A Letter concerning and against the International Baccalaureate Program

Dear Editor: I recently read an article where Paul DeMinico [Superintendent, Gilford, NH SAU  -Skip] argued in favor of adopting the International Baccalaureate Program.  He seemed to be arguing against the many controversial issues that plague this program.  It’s as if he simply cannot admit that this program comes with baggage.  Cost being one of … Read more

“They bomb each others’ mosques, funeral processions and even marketplaces crowded with other Muslims.”

Penance? Say three Allah Akbars and take two in the hat…

Islam is on its march of death on many fronts. A very dangerous front has been recently re-opened at the United Nations (UN) by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the largest group of nations within the UN, by introducing a new resolution.

The resolution under consideration—Defamation of Religions—aims to enlist the power and prestige of the UN in defense of religion by declaring religions to be immune from the general discourse practiced in non-religious domains.

The aim of the resolution is to impose a gag order on people against breathing a word that religionists may find defaming or offensive. Isn’t that a great idea, folks? Now, any crackpot, more than ever, can start a scheme and call it a religion. And by so doing, he can be under the protective umbrella of the UN, immune from any criticism and litigation. By contrast, any religious order can take any offender to court for offensive statements.

I can just see the legions of lawsuits that will be launched and financed by the petrodollar rich Islamists in an unrelenting effort to muzzle any and all people who might dare to point out the truth about Islam. The very expenses of litigation, even without convictions, can ruin any individual or organization.

And what happens to the First Amendment, freedom of speech, of inquiry and expression? Freedoms we have come to cherish and celebrate as priceless treasures for free people and societies?

January 10, 2009. Elm Street- Manchester, NH. Teaching the community about their religion?

The Union Leader published a story this week about the progress of the mosque construction in Manchester, in which one of its supporters says,

"For us, it’s a place where we can gather together to teach our kids about our religion and teach the community about our religion,"

I thought it would be good to remind readers of two posts here on the ‘Grok regarding this subject from several years back, one noting "There’s always a mosque," in which author and expert Michael Ledeen wrote

Look at the 9/11 terrorists, look at the killer of Daniel Pearl, and you will find well-off, educated men who became radicalized in a mosque. And I’ll bet you a good-sized farm that if we ever get to the bottom of 9/11 we’ll discover that mosques were central in maintaining contact with and discipline over the terrorists.

So mosques can be very dangerous places when the local imam preaches jihadism, as is done in the thousands of Saudi-sponsored Wahhabi mosques all over the world, including the United States.

And the other stating the case as to why we should be wary of the spread of Islam and its attendant mosques in the light of the September 11 attacks:

Time after time, each occurrence of successful or thwarted terror strikes here in the West have had a common ingredient: a mosque or Islamic “center” with radicalized members being “mentored” by “imams” and other so-called “holy” men. Knowing this, why would we want something like this here in NH? It is no secret that, at such places, dangerous and hate-filled propaganda is often repeated and disseminated by radical speakers and “preachers” during religious “services.” Additionally, we’ve all heard the numerous stories noting that many mosques and shrines have been used throughout the Moslem world as ammo dumps and hideouts for murderous thugs.

The enemy in the new world war that we find ourselves fighting is based upon the spread of a radical fascist ideology, much like Nazism- only worse. The Germans found their wellspring of support generated from hyper-nationalism and racism, fueled by a charismatic leader. Today’s enemy, the so-called “Islamo- fascists,” have added another extremely potent feature to the totalitarian mix: religious fervor. Now, I am not saying that all Muslims are terrorists, but I can make a case that most terrorists are Muslims.

Until we come up with foolproof methods of detection and eradication of the lethal threat to our country, I think it’s best to take extra-ordinary precautions. Each new mosque built in America represents a potential enemy outpost and launching pad for new attacks.

Not to mention that, unfortunately, a population of non-terrorist, peaceful persons in significant numbers  provides great cover for the would-be bad guys– especially if those who might have an inkling of untoward activities look the other way– or are too busy bagging on the Jews to take notice.

The twin story to the rise of the Granite State’s first permanent mosque is the advent of pro-Hamas, anti-Israel rallies on the streets of New Hampshire– one such event is depicted in the photo at the top of this post. Such activities have finally caught the attention of Granite Staters, some of whom having decided to push back, some, as individuals, and others, in the form of a group, like our friends, the Granite State Patriots. How can it be that ANY rational person could condone the continued terrorist and rocket attacks against the innocent civilian people in Israel?

In a recent email following last weekend’s antiwar rally and the counter-demonstration put on by patriotic Americans, one of the peaceniks asked Patriot leader Jack Kimball,

Do you categorize those who are opposed to the war(s)* as pro-terrorist? Those who are opposed to the Israel/Palestine conflict are pro-Hamas? This is a false dichotomy ie, more than two positions exist.

Really? Let’s consider a January 10th rally that occured in front of Jeanne Shaheen’s US Senate office on Elm Street in Manchester as recounted by a city resident who also provided all the pictures used in this posting.

pro Hamas rally

What IS their position, then, if not pro-Hamas, anti Israel?

If these people are for something else than the destruction and elimination of Israel as we know it, than please, clue me in. That this anti-Israel hatred has been brought into this country by these people– some of whom are "refugees" of such hatred in their land of origin– is nothing short of criminal. They are planting the seeds of future unrest right here on the streets of New Hampshire. The question is this– what will the addition of a permanent mosque do to the present situation?

Here’s the story:

The One’s Henchmen

All the One’s Men

by Amil Imani

Decades ago Marshall McLuhan observed, "The medium is the message." As the print and electronic media penetrate more and more every aspect of life, their influence increases greatly in shaping the views and behavior of the public. The power of the media is a mixed blessing. On one hand, it can serve to expose injustices, wrongdoings, and flaws. On the other, it is able to propagate misinformation and outright disinformation.

Manipulation and control of the media is of critical importance to the rule of totalitarian states. Free societies, although less subject to laundered information, are still at considerable risk of being selectively informed or misinformed outright. The public can be deceived more easily by the overlords of the media when political correctness is used as subterfuge for promotion of certain ideas or certain people.

These are indeed trying times for the American people. Free people must decide their priorities with foresight and wisdom and shy away from shortsighted simplistic solutions. We live in a Democracy and Democracy, by its accommodating and benign nature, is susceptible to corruption and even destruction by forces from within and from without.

The Democrats have not gotten over the last two elections in which President Bush won. The left felt the presidency was stolen from Al Gore and John Kerry. Those losses caused most everyone on the left into a hate spiral, so severe is this hatred that Charles Krauthammer (who is also a trained psychiatrist) was compelled to diagnose it and give it a name: BDS — or Bush Derangement Syndrome. Now that they believe they have found their Messiah in the person of Barack Obama. Now they want "social justice," they want revenge.

What the left calls "social justice" is actually "the revenge of the psychologically oppressed against people who look happier and more satisfied with their lives." As such, it is intimately related to the psychoanalytic understanding of envy, which is an unconscious mechanism that goes about destroying what one does not have, in order to eliminate the emotional pain of not having it, says Gagdad Bob.

Today’s polls show that many Americans are unhappy with the Republican Party and that’s enough reason to vote for a Democratic ticket. Fine and dandy. This is America, where the voter is king, and when one is king, one needs to be a sane and wise king. When people hear the word "insanity," they conjure up the image of someone out of touch with reality and out of control, a dysfunctional person fit to be tied. Yet, insanity comes in numerous types as well as degrees. It is also widely prevalent in groups, even in nations as a whole.

One common and troubling form of insanity is, "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results," warned Albert Einstein. America has already tried the path to insanity by electing Jimmy Carter as its president and he failed us miserably. Now, repeating this insanity by electing Mr. Obama is a national disaster.

Senator Obama’s greatest weakness is his past, a deliberately obscured past that MSM is fiercely trying to make look irrelevant. He, as a sequacious politician, always toes their party’s line. Regrettably, a large segment of the population goes along with some irresponsible leftists such as Bill Maher, (a humbug), who, in March 2, 2007 stated, "I’m just saying if he [Dick Chaney] did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact."

Please let me assure you, I do not say that Mr. Obama is a bad person. I say he’s not the right person for America. He would lead this country to an abyss. The presidency of the United States is a very prestigious position which entails a great deal of skill, wisdom and high moral values. It cries out for integrity and truthfulness. Although the American presidency has not been invested with the same degree of glory as a monarchy has, the American people have upheld the office to a mythic status and hold its resident in reverent awe.

In comparing the two presidential candidates, it appears that many people see John McCain as a true American and Barack Obama as a true politician. However, in this race and in our era of uncertainty, more than anything else, character does matter, experience does matter and yes, patriotism does matter. "When patriotism dies, the nation dies."

It is said that you can tell a great deal about people by the company they keep. And who has been Senator Obama’s close associates and mentors for many years, a partial list is given below:

Can America Afford Another Jimmy Carter?

by Amil Imani

The current presidential election is reminiscent of the presidency of Richard Nixon; one cannot help but be reminded of the Watergate Scandal, the biggest political scandal in American history. Watergate caused the American public to lose faith in the presidency and especially the Republican Party. As a result, in 1977 Democrats and some conservative Christian voters rushed to the polls to elect a virtually unknown political figure outside of Georgia and one of the most unqualified liberal presidents in the history of America, Mr. Jimmy Carter.

"Carter began the race with a sizable lead over Ford, who was able to narrow the gap over the course of the campaign, but was unable to prevent Carter from narrowly defeating him on November 2, 1976. Carter won the popular vote by 50.1 percent to 48.0 percent for Ford and received 297 electoral votes to Ford’s 240."

During the Watergate crisis, the American public’s faith in the government had been severely tarnished and reduced to its lowest level and the work of many federal agencies had been disrupted by the Nixon impeachment fiasco.

Ironically, history seems to be repeating itself. Again, after 30 years or so, we are faced with a similar dilemma. By now, many Americans believe that President Bush’s two terms in office have been a profound failure. For months, Bush’s approval ratings have hovered around 30 and now at 24 percent, the same as President Nixon when he left office.

Once again, as a result of these approval ratings, the Democrats are tripping over each other to put another highly unqualified man, Senator Hussein Obama, in the White House. Ironically, with his past ties to racism, terrorism and hating America, America’s survival remains at peril.

Currently, the foremost topic on the mind of the voter is the economic mess. Finger pointing goes in all directions without a clear understanding of who is to blame. Some goodhearted, naïve Americans again think that Democrats can indeed be the answer. Unfortunately, their answer, most likely, will be disastrous and will lead America to the biggest quagmire in its entire history. We do well to recognize that shortsighted people with short memories are prone to make terrible choices, even when they have the best of intentions.

Therefore, we want to refresh the voters’ memory and help them in making wise decisions. The vote you cast will not simply replace one politician with another. Today, every vote has great existential implications. The economic crisis aside, whether we like it or not, we are truly in a war of survival with Islamofascism and Mr. Obama is not the man who can defend this country.

Now, is all the above just fear-mongering and Democrat-bashing at election time? You are free to see it that way. Nevertheless, it is always more prudent to go with the facts than fiction. In order to understand Obama, we must first re-examine the preeminent presidential negotiator with the dictators and terrorists, Mr. Jimmy Carter.

Does the washroom sign say “All employees must wash feet before returning to prayer?” You know– by the footbasin…

The story about Tyson Foods’ decision to swap the Labor Day holiday for Eid al-Fitr is sweeping the Internet and flying all around via email as we speak. From the Shelbyville Times-Gazette:

Workers at Tyson Foods’ poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day, but will instead take the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr in the fall.

A recent press release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) stated that a new contract at the Shelbyville facility "implements a new holiday to accommodate the … Muslim workers at the plant."

I have some thoughts on this. First, while I’m definitely NOT the biggest fan of labor unions, what is more American than the concept of a three-day weekend at the end of summer? If this isn’t evidence of non-assimilation, I don’t know what is. While I don’t necessarily dispute the workers’ right to decide when their allotted holidays will be taken, I just believe it tells us something about some of the more recent immigrants to our country– especially when compared against those who came before, eagerly seeking to become "American" which included adopting its traditions and customs (not to mention the language). Although I suppose the ranks of Islamic employees could include a growing number of "disaffected" African-Americans too, as it is no secret that this demographic is a growth market for new converts. The Times-Gazette story continues:

there are approximatly 700 Muslims working at Tyson, but Mickelson said that Somalis only represent approximately 250 of the 1,200 employed at the plant, a little over 20 percent of the workforce.

"All Team Members who have completed their probationary period are eligible for all eight paid holidays including Eid al-Fitr," the Tyson spokeman said.

The union also claimed that in addition to the observance of the Muslim holiday, "two prayer rooms have been created to allow Muslim workers to pray twice a day and return to work without leaving the plant."

Mickelson said that Shelbyville’s Tyson plant "does have a prayer room to accommodate the needs of Muslim Team Members."

"In addition to regular, non-paid breaks, all Team Members are allotted a seven-minute paid break," the Tyson spokesman said. "Some Team Members choose to pray during this time."

While I’m not against the concept of people praying during work breaks, this is much more ingrained into the workplace culture– by written rule– than anything I’ve seen anywhere with regards to other religions one has long found here in America. This is the difference between a more passive, personal religious relationship with God than that of Islam, which seeks to insert itself into EVERY facet of life, including the leading authorities– in this case, the union and operation of a major corporation. And of course we all know that this includes politics and the government itself. (Sharia law)

No fury like a Mother scorned…

A week after the Blue and Gold Star Mothers of New Hampshire gathered in Concord to rally in support of our troops and the Gathering of Eagles in D.C., our state capitol was the scene of another group and another cause. While last week’s group sought to support our troops and Nation all the way to the victory in the present war, this weekend’s group gathered in protest. Instead of offering a message of hope, love, and support, the group, antiwar peaceniks, consisting of a large number of public school students, offered up nothing but scorn on our Nation and a plan for retreat.

Sign reads "Not one more death. Not one more dollar."
They are barely old enough to fight or vote, but local high-school students showed yesterday that they are old enough to make their voices heard in loud opposition against the war in Iraq. Between 100 and 200 students, peace activists and passers-by demonstrated in front of the State House yesterday afternoon, in a rally organized by the peace clubs of Concord High School and Hopkinton High School, with the help of New Hampshire Peace Action and the American Friends Service Committee.
.
"I think the war’s wrong, and we all do as much as we can do," said Hopkinton High School senior Will Merrow, who co-founded his school’s peace club. Merrow rallied the crowd, telling them if anyone could give him a reason why the country is in Iraq, he would get off the stage. "If not, I’ll stay up here until the death toll stops. We cannot and we will not take it any longer," he said.
In addition to singing peace songs and chanting slogans, the schoolchildren lined up empty shoes shoes in memory of those killed in Iraq. Reading of that in the Monitor article almost made me ill:
