Something strange happened this week. Our likes and follows continue to climb on Facebook, but out of nowhere reach, and interactions have dropped off a cliff. Hmmm, he says, what might cause that to happen?
An actor is a person who portrays a character in a performance. The actor’s interpretation of their role—the art of acting—pertains to the role played, whether based on a real person or fictional character. In other words, a “good actor” is a person who is good at pretending to be, and holding themselves out as, … Read more

The media does this thing where they get some intern to scour your internet history for two words placed in the wrong order. Proof you are a [bigot, racist, xenophobe, etc.] which then becomes breaking news. The media can now expect similar treatment.

In the coming weeks, we will be putting together a series of posts. They will provide information on how to research and understand the way Social Media collects and uses the information from you when you use their platform.
Social media is becoming decidedly unsociable. There is a lot of misinformation on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. But that is only one issue. Another social media issue is users scumming, snubbing, bullying or shunning one another. It is quite another when the platforms censor and control the users. It is a third when, … Read more
Big tech and social media are biased. They are, and they should admit it. Honesty matters. But they don’t. They let the Muslim Brotherhood tweet while GraniteGrok gets banned for sharing real news. Texas doesn’t like it, and they’ve proposed a legislative ‘solution.’
Last week Facebook began banning content it decides ” glorifies white nationalism and separatism.” Facebook is entitled to do whatever it wants but if Hate is the problem and Facebook has a cure, they’d better take a look over the edge of that tiny ideological box into which they’ve crammed their so-called public interest.
This is a great opportunity for our readers. I just completed this free training and I highly recommend it. Especially if you spend any amount of time on Facebook. It will make you much more effective.
by Shannon McGinley As the head of a nonprofit known for taking principled stands, I believe the truth is important. Foundational to our organization is the belief an informed electorate is critical to our republic. So, before taking a stand or sharing information, we also do our homework to make sure we know what we’re … Read more
Facebook owns the social media landscape. Not playing in their sandbox is a tough sell. GraniteGrok has seen a significant rise in traffic and engagement. From 30-50% of our traffic starts on Facebook. And traffic is way up. Could it be better? Probably. Are we subject to tactics meant to limit access to our content? Probably. But no … Read more
The Tech and Social -Media giants can’t help themselves. Hey, they’re people too. With left-leaning urges, they can’t #resist. Just a tweak to the code here. Adjust the algorithm there. Suddenly your search results or news feed have fewer stories about the things that interest you on the right. Fear not, brave patriot. There is a solution.
Liberty Digital has activism classes starting next week. What is that? It’s a comprehensive education in the use of digital media to reach your audience. If you’re a candidate for office or an activist leader, you’re probably looking for every advantage you can gain in order to get your message out and grow support for your … Read more
The lead in today’s Manchester Union Leader is SNHU requires all clubs to reveal passwords. That sounds Orwellian.
SNHU says it is to protect the continuity of the communities. There are a number of approved campus groups that have languished since the page administrators have graduated. By collecting the login credentials they can ensure that new admins have access to keep the groups updated. And this sounds reasonable until you get to this bit.
The Univerity of New Hampshire has added a Social Media Policy to its Student’s Rights, Rules, and Responsibility code of conduct. It’s a Big Brother chill-blanket on free speech that allows anyone to report anyone else whenever they think their feelings have been hurt or the feelings of others might be hurt.
What could go wrong?

Perhaps some will read this and the knee-jerk reaction might be, “Oh, there goes one of those tin-foil-lined hat rants again…Like the government doesn’t have anything better to do than watch, “me.” Perhaps on some level, thinking of the government having citizens under surveillance harkens back to Soviet-style citizen oppression, much less being an inefficient and wasteful use of valuable resources. This issue, however, focuses on the incidental happenstance of average citizens and the likelihood of being caught up in something few contemplate or even envision.
You’re watching the news and a story about bombs and explosives airs and part of the interview features some law enforcement mouthpiece claiming, “The bomb was constructed from instructions readily available on the internet…and materials bought at local hardware and home goods retailers…” You have never given thought about building a bomb, much less how to build one. So, being bored you grab your laptop and Google, “How to build a bomb” Sorting through the various hits the topic garners, you spend all of ten minutes searching and reading. All you really want to know is if the claims made have any credibility.
Back in June I posted this: "Former GraniteGrok writer Tom Flaherty wrote and distributed the [anti-Facebook] email [see it here]. I find that I agree with him. So as of today I have ‘deactivated’ (you can’t erase it) my Facebook account. When the Facebook Fascists asked why I was leaving, I said ‘I don’t like … Read more
This from Fox News Radio at 550 KFYI via Drudge Report. Consider: There are millions upon millions of postings on Facebook, every day! But only THIS posting, among the millions, gets "accidentally" deleted…aka "censored." I hate statist organizations…and Facebook appears to be one of them.
Social Media is how we communicate these days and Facebook is currently the belle of the Ball. While spending 90 seconds on a web site is a good long stay, most Facebook users spend about 25 minutes wandering Zuckerberg’s conversational multi-sphere at any given time. How long that dominance lasts is anyone’s guess but for the time being, if you are networking, marketing, or just connecting with people you know (or looking for people you have not seen since Nixon–or maybe Clinton–was in the White House), odds are you have a Facebook account.
So are you connecting? The average user has a few hundred friends. Serious users peak around seven-hundred. And then there are the folks who get up past 800 and just blossom into the thousands. Whether you have thousands or hundreds, regardless of whether you are actually friends or just share an interest, odds are good you are missing or ignoring most of them, and they you. And it’s all your fault.
