Back in June I posted this: "Former GraniteGrok writer Tom Flaherty wrote and distributed the [anti-Facebook] email [see it here]. I find that I agree with him. So as of today I have ‘deactivated’ (you can’t erase it) my Facebook account. When the Facebook Fascists asked why I was leaving, I said ‘I don’t like your selective political favoritism.’ In fact, I don’t like their left-wing statism. So screw Facebook. (For an upcoming alternative that will respect privacy and hopefully not use itself as a left-wing political weapon, check out Altly.com.)"
Well, to my chagrin I find that every time I respond to someone else’s contact or inquiry or "like" or whatever…Facebook reactivates my account (you can’t get away from the damned thing). So…I have to rescind my deactivation. In the meantime, though, let’s hope that "Altly," above (now known as "anybeat") will get up and running soon.
I just can’t stand statists.
