And how are they connected?
obamacare
Really?
Breitbart has this riff on Paul Krugman commenting on a TEA Party sign, who believes that his Nobel Prize in economics means that the rest of us should believe that his expertise transfers to politics; As it happens, I’ve recently had fairly extensive dealings with both our health care system and with the New Jersey … Read more
The “inverted morality” of Obamacare and the Democrats
Well worth watching:
The real cost of Obamacare – one individual’s lament at being hurt, not helped
Emphasis mine – and I thought that “Progressive Government” is supposed to solve problems – not make things worse? It’s like I have said for years: The Bigger the Government, the smaller the citizen. In this case, my friend sees himself getting smaller thanks to Government decisions “for him”. Skip, The numbers were posted yesterday. … Read more
There is a reason Obama didn’t want Obamacare really implemented until after the election
Just got this via email – names taken off to protect the screwed: I just got my Open Enrollment Package from my company’s Human Resources Dept. I guess I should have been more aware of how Obamacare will impact me on 1/1/13. Well my paycheck will be significantly smaller. Not only did my health and … Read more
Free Market Gets Water To Hurricane Victims Faster…
The first supplies of bottled water to arrive to aid those affected by hurricane Sandy did not come from FEMA, which has a large staging area in Georgia stocked with pallet after pallet of bottled water for just such an occassion. Nestle America, without any coordination with FEMA or any government agency, provided half a million bottles (gratis) to a staging facility in Sommerset New Jersey, long before FEMA even got its water moving.
It’s That Simple
I am still without power so content from me will be thin at best until further notice. But that doesn’t mean I can’t try to start a row with 16 seconds of video. Yes, It’s that simple. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enC0eFJgmpA&feature=player_embedded Hot Air
“Obama-Care To Kill More Jobs as Employers Struggle to Stay in Business”
One provision of Obama-Care requires employers to recognize anyone who works 30 hours a week as a full time employee.
The pertinent section (1513) of the law reads as follows:
(4) Full-time employee
The term “full-time employee” means, with respect to any month, an employee who is employed on average at least 30 hours of service per week.
The Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of Labor, shall prescribe such regulations, rules, and guidance as may be necessary to determine the hours of service of an employee, including rules for the application of this paragraph to employees who are not compensated on an hourly basis.
Anyone working 30 hours will require employer paid benefits, or the employer will be fined for failure to comply. SO where’s all that money going to come from? You and me.
Losing?
(H/T: Liberal logic 101)
As a counterbalance to the Entitlement mentality,
Yesterday I put up this post where a caller to a talk show made it clear that her expectation (demand?) is that others are responsible for taking care of her and her children. There was no discussion of voluntarily helping her, only the vagueness of Hillary’s “it takes a village” – in this case, the village WILL pay for my family because I had more kids than I can support.
Therefore, a palate cleanser is in order – Senator Rand Paul addressed this mentality back when Obamacare was being debated and he went right to the heart of the matter:
Bonus: I STILL love the video of Rand giving the you know what to an Dept of Energy flack over toilets:
Obamacare and the IRS – such a cute couple
So much for Democrats wanting to protect your privacy – I guess, like all of the anti-war protesters when Bush was President, the privacy advocates have all gone silent in support of The Won. It just goes to show that for almost all Progressives, it’s all for show – if they truly believed in what they have told us, they’d be marching on DC. Much time and energy has been spent on the Individual Mandate and the IPAB (aka “the death panels”). Well, here’s a part that I didn’t know – or realize:
The IRS will also determine who is eligible for taxpayer-financed subsidies to purchase health care on the exchanges that will be set up in every state. Anytime anyone’s situation changes — a raise, a new job, a move to another state — that person will be required to report it to the IRS for the purpose of recalculating their eligibility.
Got that?? Generally when you have a serious change in life, and you have to report that event to…Mom. Or Dad. Or some other loved one or friends.
So, what have the Democrats wrought here? That’s right – just ONE MORE STEP in having Government be your family (like it or not). So, how’s that gonna feel – literally having a brand new Big Brother (again, brought to you by Democrats as not one Republican voted for this Liberty crushing, 2700 page fiasco. Why is it beginning to feel like it should be called not Obamacare but ObamaBigBrother or ObamaJail ? How’s it feel to now know that the IRS is now an intimate member of your family? Now that you’ve gone “all growed up”, Democrats like President Obama and Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and (at the time of Obamacare passage) Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) and Hodes(D-NH) decided that you STILL needed a set of parents – and they thought it just a dandy idea that it be the folks that “touch” you every April 15th (there has to be a Democrat joke in there somewhere…)
Ask New Hampshire Democrats About Fines For The Most Vulnerable
Effective October 1st, 2012 (that means it started last week folks)… Hospitals who re-admit patients within 30 days after they were discharged will now have to, under an Obamacare provision, pay fines as of October 1, 2012, which could force hospitals to slash programs that help the elderly, the poor, and the chronically ill. According … Read more
Prediction: Obama Campaign Will Try To…
I was just thinking about this. We’ve not seen any left wing deployment of the Romney Care strategy. I think I know why. They were saving it. Prediction: Obama Campaign Will Try To…use RomneyCare to suppress Republican turnout for their opponent. Reality: Romney/Ryan will repeal ObamaCare if they can. I’m not saying they wont ever … Read more
Data Point: Obama Plan – taxes going up for two million additional “victims”
After all, Democrats view everyone (almost) as a victim, right? And horrors – it is all on the Dems that have created this new victim gaggle! And they state that 30 million folks will NOT be covered (er, wasn’t that the whole point of this boondoggle?) and 6 million (2 million more than planned – “unexpectedly!”) are going to have empty their wallets on the alter of OCare.
The Obama 2012 folks are NOT going to like this next piece of news: not only are premiums not going down as President Obama promised (yet another Obama Promise hitting its expiration date) but according to the neutral Congressional Budget Office, with its latest scoring, has determined that Individual Mandate TAX is going to raise taxes on folks making less than $200K/year (yet another Obama promise expired) as Obamacare is rolled out. Those without healthcare will fall into this ObamaTax if they fall into the following:
- No healthcare insurance for > 3 months
- Household income from 138% – 400% of the Poverty Level
- Household income at => 400% of the Poverty Level
Data Point – Obama: “We’re going to work with your employer to lower the cost of your premiums by up to $2,500 a year.”
Not quite, sport: Obama has lowered your premium by -$5,500 (for those of you in Rio Linda, that means instead of saving you $2,500 a year, it is now costing you $3,000 MORE a year (a difference of $5,500 that is no longer in your pocket or your employer that helps to pay your premium) … Read more
Obama Care Summed Up In One Sentence
This is Dr. Barbara Bellar, a candidate for the Illinois State Senate. She has managed to describe Obama-Care in just one sentence. H/T Ed Morrissey @Hot Air
Get “Used” To This…
Politicians run around like chicken little screaming “the sky is falling.” They do this until they get what they want. In this instance, government run healthcare was going to save people’s lives. It was going to mandate free stuff, like say, mammograms. Free mammograms. Mammograms save lives. At least they did before the government handed off the responsibility for managing the cost of them to an unelected board of bureaucrats.
Now, that thing the government said you needed every year or two after the age of forty…you don’t need that anymore, and guess what–you can’t have one.
Revolution Foundation

The Daily Caller ran a story this weekend about a book set to come out tomorrow, by Mallory Factor, called “Shadowbosses: Government Unions Control America and Rob taxpayers Blind“.
The premise of the book is that Obamacare was just a big ploy to unionize the estimated 16-17 million strong healthcare workforce (12.5% of US workers, 17% of US GDP/economy – projected to reach 20%), and that by proposing an acceptable plan for nationalized/unionized healthcare, the union got behind Obama in the election of 2008, helping him win the Presidency.
But by the looks of this, Obamacare wasn’t just about healthcare, in the same way that “sustainability” isn’t just about the environment…
Paul Ryan it is: “Hiding Spending Does Not Reduce Spending” (see below)
Bottom line: “We dont’ think government should be in control of all this. We think the people should be in control.” Watch this video; look at the facial expressions and body language of the two politicians to his left; look at the fear and loathing emanating from the other political class pigs around that table! YES!
GrokTV – Jane Cormier for NH House – Questions 13 & 14
This winds up our interview series with Jane Cormier (running for the NH House in Belknap 8 – Alton, Barnstead, and Gilmanton) against Peter Bolster (one of the worst RINOs in the NH House, IMHO, who boasts of being a Democrat who changed registration to Republican just to vote against the Republican Platform on many, many occasions).
Question 13: Expansion of Medicaid in NH as a result of Obamacare: take the money?
Question 14: What is your outlook on Founders version of the definition of “protect”?
