From Weasel Zippers: WASHINGTON — Following President Obama’s lunch meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill, Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins described the food served and the president’s reaction to what was on menu. “University of Maine recipe for healthy lobster salad — I pointed that out to the president in keeping with the first … Read more
Barack Obama may be our President, but he is a petty little man who cares more about his power and ideology than people. After months of attempting to blame Republicans for his sequester plan and promising dire consequences, the public didn’t buy it. They said cutting 2.3% from our bloated future spending plan isn’t enough, cut current spending levels by 5%.
Like a spoiled brat, Obama wants to make people suffer for not believing his threats. So, he stops White House tours, he cuts medical care for veterans, including disabled veterans and their families, he releases thousands of criminals to prey on Americans, he goes out of his way to cause pain to others, but for a $500,000 donation to his campaign fund, he gives you a night in the Lincoln Bedroom at taxpayer expense.
Having just replaced “one of the best ever” with the next to be “one of the best ever” Secretaries of State, President Obama’s foreign policy coups keep coming. President Obama’s “charm offensive” really pays off. North Korea just announced that they have abandoned the Korean War ceasefire agreement and are developing bombs and missiles with which … Read more
Obama lies a lot, or…he is about as well informed as Carol Shea-Porter. Obama: “Starting tomorrow, everybody here, cleaning the floors at the Capitol. They’re going to have less pay. The janitors, the security guards. They just got a pay cut. They’ve got to figure out how to manage that. That’s real.” Architect of the … Read more
Yes, the unelected, unaccountable and mostly self-funding (multiple taxpayer teats at the ready) group of Commissions that started off doing road planning between neighboring towns – and suddenly, are experts in such varied things as Economic Development to Broadband Deployment in just a few short millions of dollars grants-writing. And now that THAT information is getting out (much to the dismay of paid shills like NHListens (here, here, here, here, sorta here, here) who “facilitate” meetings (and their outcomes) and their propagandists like Action Media (“to neutralize the opposition“)), they are not grooving at ALL that they are no longer being allowed to do their work out of the light of Citizen Flashlights…
…like here, where one of the taxpayer funded presenters, trying to sugercoat the “wassup!”, decided to diss ‘Grok friend Ed from GovernmentOversite (who wields a big Citizen Flashlight indeed). Diss? Er, well, object to the camera being present AND rolling – watch for yourself:
Lesson to the yet-to-be-PR-wise: holding up the yellow lined notepad makes you a bigger target and a more interesting subject to watch. And, as my 1 year old granddaughter will soon learn, blocking the camera lens with said notepad will not automatically make you invisible (something that the 1 year old is already learning, except she just uses her forearm to cover her eyes to make herself invisible to everyone else).
But I digress – here are some of the notes Ed took (emphasis mine, a bit of reformatting, and commenting on the notes on what these Planners really want to do [er, the Ed’s Notes are great and are NOT the target of the snark – the reason why the Notes had to be done is):
Debra Heine, at Breitbart, has a P.I.’s peep shot of the wife-beater wearing Obama Administration and its abusive relationship with the media.
She makes note of how reporters are treated if they say anything the boss in the Big House doesn’t like. But every time the new media or the so-called swing voters ask, like the beat-cop responding to neighbors calling about another fight next door, the so-called watchdog media is heard to say… ‘But I can’t leave him. He loves me. I, uh… just fell down the stairs (click, click, click, as threatening emails from White House Staffers are erased).
Well, it seems that Obama is bound and determined to blame his idea and his signing of the BCA law (that has brought the Sequestration to life) on the US House. Oh, that rebellious Legislative branch, how could they EVAH go against The One as he grows Government ever larger and larger to Progressively “better perfect” us all (and achieve his salvation because he has brought our “collective salvation” to fruition in his idea of a Utopia on Earth). It never ceases to amaze me, however, that he believes that he can usher in this Heaven on Earth by bullying absolutely everyone that disagrees with him.
And once again, we see the Democrats in Concord trying to emulate the Democrats in DC. Didn’t we already have four years of this? In the Concord Monitor:
Hassan: Without revenue from a casino, Legislature will have to make difficult decisions
(No, I’m not linking to the article because of their paywall). So, Hassan automagically pulls an $80 million pixie dust amount of revenue out of thin air, puts it on a bright and shiny rainbow unicorn, and shoves it into the political war…
Tim posed that question yesterday, my answer is “Not too shabby, actually”. Sure, just like the Federal Government, I had to take a 2% haircut financially earlier this year (1/1/13) as Obama decided that His Progressive policy to “better perfect” tax policies, decreed that I had to give up not paying the FICA tax that His Highness earlier had decreed was necessary to “better perfect” our tax policies. I still am not sure which was the better “better perfect” perfection I’m supposed to believe in.
Go figure – Progressive Perfection policies; how do they keep straight faces with this kind of stuff? In the mean time, I had to “perfect” a lesser personal budget quick.
Then I had to do it again (“better perfect” my personal budget). You see, even while the Feds haircut just started yesterday as His Excellency decreed that His Progressive policies had to “better perfect” our healthcare, my cost went up – and a whole lot more than by 2%. In fact, string a bunch of 2% cuts together and that adds up. Plus, with his “perfection” of His Progressive energy policy, my weekly grocery bill has soared (as corn crops are turned into ethanol that eats our car engines) and my gas bill is mirroring it. So, I have to make do with even less. I guess this is the way that Progressives wish to “perfect us” to be better people. Maybe I am doing more shabby than I thought….yet, His Head Honchoness is still crying that that SequesApocolypse would crash society simply because Government programs and bureaucrats would get 2.4% less to spend: 2 cents out of every dollar.
How come that 2% out of their Government wallet means more to them than they think it is taking it out of our wallets?
Email and social media have been burning up with cries and moans about the US Senate giving Obama dictatorial power.
What they actually tried to do was to give him complete control over the Sequester cuts. Only the Sequester cuts. But all 85 Billion. Obama could pick and choose what got cut without having to concern himself with congress. He could save head start, border patrol, firefighters, and instead pick low priority programs or the jobs of redundant pencil pushers.
He said he’d veto it.
Given the chance to lead, he voted present. He is either incapable, or unwilling to lead. Or, more likely, leading presents too many risks to his real agenda, which has nothing to do with protecting and defending America as he claims and everything to do with protecting Obama.

White House can give a fresh 60 million dollars to support freedom fighters in Syria but……Screw those kids getting “kicked out of Head Start” by the Obama’s sequester. So how ironic is it that the Obama super PAC was called Priorities USA?
Haven’t even cut a fraction of his massive 3.8 trillion dollar budget (cuts he passed into law)…only place to cut at DHS requires Barack Obama to let hundreds of criminals out of prison. What? Is this what DHS needed billions of rounds of ammunition for? [update] White House denies knowledge. Theories that the release may … Read more
Throws billions at high risk bankrupt green energy companies year after year….slight decrease in increased spending (sequester) will mean firing air traffic controllers, TSA, first responders, public safety personnel, border patrol, crumbling infrastructure…
King of executive orders, master of spending and debt, willing to by-pass congress if he has too….but no power to decide what spending increases get cut from his own Sequester bill.
Glenn Reynolds, Tennesse law professor, father of Instapundit, interviewed Russ Roberts, an economics professor at George Mason University, recently. It’s a fairly lengthy (but very interesting) podcast and the talk shifted to discussion of a NY Slimes piece from last year on why the Constitution was really of little value to today’s hipster progressives. To whet your appetite:
REYNOLDS: Here’s the problem with public officials — because that’s really [Seidman’s] audience — deciding to ignore the Constitution: If you’re the president, if you’re a member of Congress, if you are a TSA agent, the only reason why somebody should listen to what you say, instead of horsewhipping you out of town for your impertinence, is because you exercise power via the Constitution. If the Constitution doesn’t count, you don’t have any legitimate power. You’re a thief, a brigand, an officious busybody, somebody who should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail for trying to exercise power you don’t possess.
“In America, you have a right to be stupid, if you want to be, and you have a right to be disconnected to somebody else if you want to be. And we tolerate that – we somehow make it through that.” –John Kerry
And were it not for stupid people, we would not have professional politicians like…John Forbes Kerry (who served in Vietnam, by the way).
I’m not sure about that last part though–making it through?
It’s the Clinton Coffees and the Lincoln Bedroom writ large but with a bit more daylight. (Who says history doth not repeat?) OFA, Organizing For A**H***s, is stating right up front that you can buy access to the President. Just give them a big bucket of cash and they can get you in touch with the people who run … Read more
Grokster Scott’s post was not what I was expecting and certainly the folks in the video were speaking their hearts. But in putting up some of the quotes, I think he missed one – and the one that makes the most importance, so I transcribed it. Rev. William Owens Jr., Founder, “God, Guns and the Constitution” start speaking at 2:07 (and ends the clip) has the following to say (emphasis mine):
This Administration is far from the truth. The agenda is becoming more and more obvious to all, that it’s a distraction. It’s a reason, an excuse to carry out an ideology that is more evident every day, every week that goes by, that it is anti-American. And when you touch the Second Amendment, you can’t become more anti-American because America would not be without her guns. And guns would not be necessary without her God.
We call upon Americans, both black, white, Hispanic; Republicans, Democrats, Independents and even those that are not of our faith to agree upon this: without God, without guns, without the Constitution, America’s end will come with haste.
For when they change our Constitution, they will take our guns. And when they take our guns, they will also seek to take our God. That’s when America will fight back.
All of what the Reverend says is true. Read that last paragraph, for that is what Obama and his Progressive perps are in the process of doing. Wilson, TDR (at the end), FDR, LBJ – Progressives all and made no secret at all that the principle reason for the Constitution was to limit people like them. Is the fence of the Constitution standing like an armored wall, or more like a bulging fence whose bottom is being pushed out more and more?
