Ask A New Hampshire Democrat About Taxing The Rich

Ask a New Hampshire Democrat about taxing the richThe distance between left wing rhetoric and reality is wide, particularly on the issue of taxing the rich.  This classic bit of class war rhetoric is used to deflect any deeper inspection of the problem, and the flaws in the Democrat’s solution.  And the flaws are huge.  Immense.  Enormous.  Disqualifying in fact.  So ask a New Hampshire Democrat about taxing the rich.

Remembering Democrat Rule – “Look To The Sky…”

Marjorie Smith NH Democrat
“Look to the sky when estimating revenue – we need the money.”

“Look to the sky when you do revenue estimates because we need the money.”

-Marjorie Smith (D- Durham) Chair House Finance Committee 2007

One month after the supposed start of the ‘Great Recession™’ and just a few months after New Hampshire Democrats historic spending spree, a partisan vote of the General Court’s Joint Facilities Committee increased pay and benefits for 145 members of the legislative staff.  The hike added almost a million dollars on the backs of taxpayers at the beginning of an economic downturn.  More spending without concern for how we’d pay for it.  A trend New Hampshire Democrats would continue into the next session.  An attitude Marjorie Smith (D- Durham), the chair of the House finance committee, would frame with the words “Look to they sky when you do revenue because we need the money.”

Hang on a moment while I add a line to my check register that says I made an extra million dollars this year.  Oh look, time to go shopping!  Shall we proceed?

Where “Grassroots” Can Earn You $100.00/Hour

There’s an ad on Craigslist for professional political workers. (the entire ad is on the jump).

Grassroots solutions, which claims to be a national field organization that is all about helping coordinate grassroots political efforts, is hiring people to help Planned Parenthood of Northern New England do door to door canvassing in the Concord and Manchester Area to promote pro-abortion candidates (women’s health)…that would be Democrats.  You get $100/hour plus gas allowance.

I have a lot of questions.  Like how can it be grassroots if you pay $100.00 per hour?  Or, how is it that Planned Parenthood of Northern New England can afford to run this canvassing campaign but can’t run their business model without my tax dollars?

If The Dover New Hampshire Court Suspends The ID law…

I’m not sure what the outcome will be of the suit to suspend the new Voter ID and domicile requirements in New Hampshire, but if the four out of state college students somehow succeed, I would like to suggest that we move to refund them the difference between in-state and out-of state tuition. If they … Read more

Ask A New Hampshire Democrat…Can I just Show up and Vote as a Delegate at Your State Convention?

Today, in Dover, a judge will hear complaints from the League of Women voters and the ACLU about New Hampshire’s law regarding proof of domicile and voter ID.  Their premise is that out of state students should not have to act like they live here to vote here. That requiring them to at least pretend to live here is some kind of suppression or violation of their rights.

I wonder if that works for other things as well?  Does my mere presence on the floor of the New Hampshire House make me a legislator?  Do I get to vote on the House floor for say, Dover, or Portsmouth, just because I want to?

Better yet, how about if I just show up at the Democrat state party convention, you know, me and a few hundred people…will you let us vote as delegates?  Let us choose your chairman and officers, vote on your party platform?  We don’t want to join the Democrat party, we don’t even want to pretend to join, we just want to vote on everything that defines it and everyone who leads it.

Ask a New Hampshire Democrat….Would that be ok?

Classroom Political Bias in Merrimack New Hampshire

It’s not the first time that reports have reached my ears of obvious political bias in the classrooms of the Merrimack School System.  Tales of Middle School English teachers using their classrooms to promote the “science” of global warming we’re not uncommon, and while annoying not prevalent enough to demand action. The most recent circumstance … Read more

Ask A NH Democrat – About Free Speech

Free Speech FlagA private citizen made a lousy YouTube video about six months ago.  A few days ago islamo-fascists used it as a vehicle to inflame Muslim uprisings.  Under the cover of same, Americans were killed, or in some cases executed.  The Obama Administration’s response to the killings was to send the police out in the dark of night and collect the man they believe responsible for making the video.

Muslims, living in third world arm-pits, are familiar with this strategy.  People disappearing in the night when they have displeased those in power by saying something that has made them look bad.  They do not have free speech.  But we do.  Well, we are supposed to.

Remembering Democrat Rule – No Taxes Means More Taxes

In 2007 New Hampshire Democrats assumed complete control of state government.  And much like the Democrat rhetoric in the current 2012 campaign, back in 2007,  their first budget,  New Hampshire’s first budget over 10 billion dollars, was billed by the Democrats as a budget that “addresses our state’s priorities without new taxes.” Addresses our ‘State’s’ … Read more

RLCNH RELEASES SESSION SCORECARD, USES BOLD VOTING RECORD STANDARD TO ENDORSE INCUMBENTS
In Order to Ensure Best Republicans Win Primaries, RLCNH Introduces New ‘Recommended’ Candidate Level

CONCORD, N.H.—With the premiere of its Legislative Scorecard that rates representatives and senators on their faithfulness to conservative values, the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire is setting a new bar for incumbents that will hold them accountable to the only political direction that will ensure liberty and prosperity in New Hampshire.

“The RLCNH intends to drive the agenda for the Republican Party in the coming years, and our new scorecard will be one of the tools that we use for this end,” said Carolyn McKinney, chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire. “While we still intend to promote the best outcome for Republican primary elections by recommending candidates who perform well on our incumbent scorecard or candidate survey, we will only endorse and actively support candidates who have truly exhibited a strong commitment to the principles that make our state and country great. Our endorsements will be reserved for the best of the best.”

The NHRVC Is On The Move

The New Hampshire Republican Volunteer Coalition (NHRVC) was founded in the wake of the November 2008 elections to recruit, train, and support GOP activists and campaign volunteers in New Hampshire.   Our mission was to build  a grassroots coalition of highly motivated activists working to elect principled Republicans who stand for low taxes, fiscal responsibility, free enterprise, individual liberty, and most importantly, the U.S. and NH Constitutions.

We grew from just a handful of people trading emails on a Yahoo group to over 4000 members of our Facebook Group, an accomplishment for which I take no credit myself.  But as we have grown, and each of our lives has changed, other factors have made it imperative that we find new and efficient ways to coordinate and consolidate these efforts.  It has also become apparent that we are duplicating work being done by other grassroots groups in New Hampshire.  So while the mission is still as relevant as ever, to continue that mission effectively the NHRVC must adapt.

Left Wing “Fair Tax” In Trouble?

It is no secret that the Granite State Fair Tax Coalitions (GSFTC) is a hive of left wing Democrat tax and spend socialists trying to hide behind a so-called bi-partisan front group.  It is run by leftists (here and here), colludes with leftists, and seeks to advance Democrat party tax policy under the false notion that our current system of taxation in New Hampshire is some how not fair.

But the evidence continues to confound their false narratives.

Despite the GSFTCs misrepresentation of facts and the spinning of data to mislead, whatever our tax system is in New Hampshire, it continues to provide a better quality of opportunity than any other state in the Nation.  The US census reports that New Hampshire has the lowest poverty rate in the country.

Well how the hell did that happen?  I thought things were so unfair here?  How could our "unfair" tax system still allow for the best economic environment for people to thrive in?  And in this lousy economy to boot?  We have the lowest poverty, one of the highest standards of living, and one of the safest to live in as well.  Could it be because our current system also provides one of the lowest overall tax burdens in the country as well?  Can we argue that low overall tax burden–the result of our so-called "unfair" system of taxation, is somehow more effective at keeping people above the poverty line than any other state in the country?

Hell yeah.

While Everyone is Pissed Off at Rick Perry

Romney is not the presumptive winner, not because of Rick Perry, but because most Republicans really are still looking for a candidate they can get behind and Perry is the best high-profile “not Romney” candidate to come forward.

Where’s Our Cheese?

…have New Hampshire’s low tax, local government, just leave me alone voters decided that a tax and spend, intrusive big government guy like Perry is the new (old) direction they want to pursue?

If You Are Not Following Me On Twitter….

Twitter inspires the opportunity to aggravate the leftists who insist on following conservatives there. Not every witticism will fit on Twitter. Sometimes you have to write a blog and post a link. And then there are the thoughts that are too short to blog and too long to tweet. (Some things can’t be said in under 140 characters.)
