A fisking of US Senator Jeff Flake on the SCOTUS hearings

Two fortunate things came together – I found the charging cord to my Zoom Q4 camera (literally handsized) and found out that it makes a great camera with which to yank off clips from the TV (DVR’d of course) and that US Senator Jeff Flake decided to show up at St Anselm’s Institute of Politics this past Monday Night. Of course, WMUR just HAD (in their drift leftward) had to cover this “Conservative” who, they touted, derailed the confirmation of Brett Kavanuagh to the Supreme Court (even if just for a little mite of time). Of course, Flake is all pleased with himself and he made that quite clear to all. For not much at all, IMHO; let the fisking begin:

Sen. Grassley extended an invitation to bring the entire Senate Judiciary committee, staff and all, to California, to hear Dr. Ford’s testimony in private. Wherever and whenever she chose. The offer was made to her lawyer.

So why was she dragged across the country to sit front and center for the media circus?

Well, Peter’s post “Republicans must not cower in the face of Democratic treachery” is getting a bunch of traction in the comments section and as I do from time to time, I mix it up in the comments instead of just putting my thoughts here on the front page. This time, I just couldn’t help myself in keeping it short and when I was done with one comment by Bruce Currie.

Sidenote: one of the few Liberals that come here to joist with us, I give him the rubric of “honest Liberal” as he is almost always consistent in his views and tries to have a decent conversation; I am hoping he’ll come to one of our MeetUps so as to meet him in person!

Presumption of Guilt – Another Reason to Oppose The Left

Differing on matters of policy is one thing but the New Left’s presumption of guilt, at least as it applies to presumed political opponents, is despotic. It must be opposed as should be any member of the Democrat Party who condones it.

As Ms. Hill and Sen. Hirono aver, the Democratic standard for sexual-assault allegations is that they should be accepted as true merely for having been made. The accuser is assumed to be telling the truth because the accuser is a woman. The burden is on Mr. Kavanaugh to prove his innocence. If he cannot do so, then he is unfit to serve on the Court.

What a bind the Kavanaugh nomination is in. We have an instance of repressed memory assault and attempted rape allegations from one Christine “Stormy” Ford against her, when she was 15 years old at a drinking party, by Brett Kavanaugh, who was then something like 17 years old.

So, with these facts now come to light there is no way Kavanaugh can continue being a judge now or ever.

Democrats should be happy that Judge Kavanaugh does not see a specific right to abortion in the words of the US Constitution. It means that the lib-states can do whatever they want. Lefty Landscapes can continue to “euthanize” minority populations before birth and legally “separate” immigrant mothers from their unborn babies. All at Taxpayer Expense!

Women’s health care for all the victim groups including the ones that were not born “women.”

These states will be so desirable that “women” will leave non-lib-states that fail to see the benefit and move to the lib-states instead.

The Kavanaugh Compromise

Recent discussions regarding the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court seem to have centered largely around two issues: guns and abortion.

Judging from my own experience, conservatives tend to be both pro-gun and anti-abortion, while progressives tend to be both anti-gun and pro-abortion:

                   Pro-abortion    Anti-abortion
Pro-gun                            Conservative
Anti-gun           Progressive

So it occurs to me that the current juxtaposition of these two issues might represent an opportunity to make, albeit informally, a historic deal linking the two.

If the answers to constitutional questions are in the Constitution, then it shouldn’t matter at all who sits on the Supreme Court. We should be able to replace any subset of justices, and the same questions should get the same answers. They’re all looking at the same document, right?

You might be feeling some hesitation about that — doesn’t the Constitution have to be ‘interpreted’? But consider what would happen if it were announced that from now on, officials would be free to ‘interpret’ the NFL Rulebook in order to get any outcome they want, so that the result of any contest would depend entirely on who was doing the officiating.

There would be riots, wouldn’t there?
