Guest Post by C.dog e. dog – “a touch of Bidenitus by I. Toddius!”

From his email:  Skip – Here’s a follow-up on poor ol’ Todd, born with a government degree in his mouth, and a touch of Bidenitus.

Plagiary, Thy Name is I. Toddius!

As originally hurled downfield by Scott from the 50 yard line, then caught and carried to the end zone by Steve, this football keeps scoring more points against Team Statist. I’m sure at this juncture the Liberatti are at this very moment circling their limousines to once again protect one of their own who has strayed into the land of e-lifting words others strung together and take credit as if these mighty prose (and by inference, thoughts) were their own. What’s the big deal? The Grate Senator from MA-MA Land had someone take his test. And the bumbling V.P. gaff machine down in D.C. just can’t keep himself from laddling out another heapin’ helpin’ of unattributed verbiage onto his plate marked: “Highest I.Q. in da House!” What does it matter? Aren’t we all supposed to share our stuff? So what if someone grinding the Big Government ax over at Trip Reports or New Hamster Municipal Association wrote the stuff first?

C’mon Steve! Aren’t they just one giant wriggling mass of community organizers, so what does it matter if it comes from the mouth of one worm or another? You’re sooooo picky. Besides, it’s entirely possible I. Toddius lifted his prescient prose from Daily Dirt (which is not related to the Daily KOS, but is related to Our Road Contractor’s Daily Bread – and lot’s of it – for construction company owners and the union bosses they feed) instead of Trip Reports.

But wait Steve and Scott, there’s more on our budding HI.Q. Joe Biden wannabee from Durham, New Hamster!

Jeanne Shaheen – Enemy of the Constitution

Yesterday, the US Senate voted on an amendment to “uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty“. While this issue could come up for another vote during the session, this action essentially rejected the UN Gun Ban Treaty – officially called the “Arms Trade Treaty” (ATT) – which was … Read more

Dan Eaton Holds Kids Hostage

Image Credit: The Marketeer - Get the five.comNew Hampshire House Democrat Dan Eaton left office under investigation for intimidation and corruption.  He returned under the umbrella of returning civility to Concord.  Yet Eaton is proof that there never was any, not from the NH Democrat Leadership.  And now that he’s back and in charge of the powerful finance committee, he’s being who Dan Eaton is.  Someone who uses his office to help…Dan Eaton.

That is why Dan Eaton took a bill everyone likes, that would fix the charter school situation, and should have breezed out of the legislature and into law, and held it hostage.

So, Obama’s Dept of Homeland Security wants our Police Departments to be without ammo?

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

– President Obama, Colorado, July 2, 2008

When he first uttered those words, it seemed that only a few of us on the Right read those words and went “WHAT?”.  After all, we were starting to learn about his connections to the New Left and other people holding Progressive to Marxist philosophies (what, like there’s much of a difference?).  At the time, many on the Left, trying to be Obama apologists, went on and on about the intent was to increase programs like Vista and Americorps….and then it went dead.  Then Gabby Gifford, Aurora, and Sandy Hook hit.

For quite some time, civilian shooters were finding ammo and guns hard to get – first, thinking that an incipient gun ban was going to be pushed through during Obama’s first term and then again near and right after November’s election, with people truly believing that NOW he would start his ban.  After all, Progressives have this visceral hatred of both guns – and people who believe they have the right to defend themselves.  After all, their reasoning goes, we all give up certain Rights to Government to have a government and they believe that one of them is our fundamental Right to defend ourselves, families, and property.   As debra Saunders at Real Clear Politics puts it:

Happy Anniversary

Patrick Henry
Patrick Henry

Patrick Henry in an address at St. John’s Church, Richmond, Virginia, on March 23, 1775:

“This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfil the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offence, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

Colt Manufacturing in CT – Time for a Gut Check?

Colt-Logo

Colt Manufacturing President and CEO Dennis Veilleux penned an Editorial on March 18th in regard to Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy’s obsession with banning “assault’ rifles.

Colt … manufactures the AR-15 platform rifles in a military version and a very different commercial version. Colt has manufactured the commercial semi-automatic version of the AR (one shot for each trigger pull) since 1963. The AR-15 has evolved into the modern sporting rifle. It is owned and used responsibly by millions of Americans for hunting, target shooting and home defense. This product is the backbone of our business and is very important to us and our customers.

The CDC and your children

CDC

I have two sons in high school, 15 and 16 years old.  This week, I received an email from the school, informing me that they were going to be taking a “Youth Risk Behavior” survey, which is a component of the CDC’s “Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System” (YRBSS), in conjunction with the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Right out of the gate, I have measurable trepidation about schools (and teachers) and their assumed role as surrogate parents; a role which I do not subscribe to, opting to actually play the role myself. Sadly, many parents don’t feel this way and have subtly and unknowingly abdicated much of their parental duty to the schools and to the ever-encroaching State and Federal governments.  This dovetails with the disturbing trend away from personal responsibility and accountability across much of our current society.

So, you can imagine how I felt after reading the survey, itself.

Notable Quote – David Goodhart

For a democratic state to have any meaning, it must ‘belong’ to existing citizens. They must have special rights over non-citizens. Immigration must be managed with their interests in mind. – David Goodhart, British author

Oh WHY did we think that this would be part of those FAA tower closures?

I learned to fly out of the Lawrence Airport in MA and part of the training was to fly in and out of smaller airports.  I learned the radio frequencies to use to announce my entry into the landing / takeoff patter and to toggle the runway lights.  Standard fare as most of the airports in the US are considered “general aviation” fields – small biz jets and prop planes – not having a Tower talk you in was no big deal.  So upon hearing that the FAA was going to close some of these towers of the mid size fields was not a big deal – pilots are trained to deal with this.  But like much of Obama’s response to his own sequester plan (for it was the White House that came up with it), instead of a corporate handling of a 2.4% lowered budget (where true non-essentials are cut out), his Administration has been intent on causing the taxpayers and citizens as much grief as possible (even as his Administration just caused all of us to live 2.4% less due to raising out taxes).  So closing FAA towers is part of that – but WHY these particular 149 Towers?  From Hot Air:

The Federal Aviation Administration on Friday told 149 regional airports across the country it would begin closing their air traffic control towers in April, but said it would spare another 40 towers that had been on the chopping block.

As the post says, this is all about less than 2/3ds of a $Billion out of budget of $58 Billion – small change at the 50,000 foot level.  But take out paper pushers first?  But what is so special about those 40?  Oh, sure:

Biden: “If it only saves ONE life!”. Yo, Joe? This count?

It also seems to reinforce the meme that those bad guys that use ILLEGAL weapons are often cowards when confronted by good guys standing up to them:

If you’re a woman, imagine being home alone in a rural area when you hear someone rattling your front door. You don’t recognize who they are. You call your husband just as the two teenaged boys break into your house and you see that they are armed. What do you do?

That’s exactly what happened to a woman in the small rural community of Maypearl, Texas, about 45 miles south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. It was Wednesday afternoon, she was home alone at their farmhouse when she heard her front door rattling. She looked out and saw two young men, one dressed in camouflage and had a gun strapped across his back.

Todd I. Selig – Economic Ignoramus or Just Deceptive?

Todd I. Selig

Porous condoms, bustiered moobed construction workers, medieval royal exclamations with a dash of Dorothy skipping rubies down the golden road all at the expense of some poor statist once-a-plebe trying to ply more cash from the pockets of his neighbors to meet his illusory expectation of what should be done and pretending to solve a problem?  Yes, I’m referring to the guest post by C.dog.  He hit some poignant points in his illuminating, entertaining, and informative post.  I’d lavish more praise on the piece save for time because as any good piece I read does, it creates a mental itch that I need to scratch, so on with the nailed relief.

The audacity of C.dog’s subject, one lord Todd I. Selig, playing fast and loose with economics in hopes to bind the emerald curtain tightly taught so that no one is able to lift the drapes is invidious.  It’s especially so when one thinks that people might buy this bureaucratic sinecure’s incongruous tripe and agree with the deplorable gas tax increase.  However, the curtains are diaphanous and gauzy so one can easily see the image of his scarecrowed chicanery when backlit.

Let’s flame the candles and take a look at a few of the wobbly pillars that support his feeble argument.

In his blog post, he risibly purports to answer the question as to why the cost of gas is cheaper in Maine than in NH, and in doing so demonstrates either his callow understanding of economics or betrays his perfidy by implying that we must follow Maine’s lead. But he’s just clutching at straw men.
