First, there is this story: “Rep Fred Maslack sponsored a bill to register “non-gun-owners” and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state. Thus Vermont would become the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun.”

So there it is. Once again, it is taking flight around the internet as if this is recent news. But…In all reality, Maslack proposed the bill in 2001. Yep! Maslack has not been in the Vermont house for over ten years. This a great story…grabs some real traction

The Gay Marriage advocacy constituency is still very small when juxtaposed against the larger society. That should not denigrate friends and loved ones who include themselves under the tent of the Gay community. But facts are inconvenient things as hard and cold as they might seem. “Legal Gun Owners Against Stupid Gun-Grabbing Mayors”

Mike ‘Buckshot’ Bloomberg has an organization called Mayors Against Illegal Guns which just spent 12 million dollars of his money on ads in thirteen states–to pressure US Senators to pass some Bloomberg-esque law or other.  But what we really got from these ads was a lesson in how little the folks involved know about safely handling a firearm.

Mr. Bloomberg’s organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, produced two ads featuring a man holding a shotgun, wearing plaid flannel with a camouflage cap and sitting on the tailgate of a pickup truck. While a child swings on a tire in the background, the man says, “I support comprehensive background checks so criminals and the dangerously mentally ill can’t buy guns.”

Plaid flannel?  Camo hat?  Pick-up truck?  I don’t see his dog, did it run off with his banjo?

At the end of the Hillsborough County Republican Committee Lincoln-Reagan Gala, we started to breakdown the livestreaming equipment pretty quickly – it was late, it would take a while, and then there was the long drive home (and the Mtn. As our Democrat Governor tries to improve her odds at winning a bet on a state gambling monopoly in northern New England, AP is reporting hard times for the Indian Casino monopoly in the southern part of New England.  The Indian tribes, who got the law changed to allow them to put up casinos as a way to pay for their needs way back when, got so busy relying on other peoples gambling money for their free ride that when that money dried up, (down economy, waste, bad spending decisisons, abuse, because they are entitield) they figured they’d go running back to Uncle Sam for a bailout.

It’s millions of dollars, just sitting there, to which the ‘law’ entitles them, and as the song goes, they aint too proud to beg.
