Perverse Incentives – How Gov. Meddling Drives up the Cost of Health Care

Healthcare costsThe State claims to be looking out for your health care interests but like everything else they are not. They are building cartels that reward cronies and rent-seekers who then reward their political allies in government.

ObamaCare, Medicaid, and Medicaid expansion are not well-meaning safety-net programs. They are wealth redirection schemes that enrich cartels, and politicians at the expense of regular Americans.

Did you know, for example, that by design, ObamaCare incentivizes increasing health care costs to the benefit of the insurance industry and big hospitals?

What About Life? NH House, Not Interested in Protecting Viable Babies.

Choose Life - encourage fatherhoodEllen Kolb, reporting at Leaven for the Loaf, has an update on how Life Bills fared in the New Hampshire House. Lousy. HB1680, which would prohibit the termination of a viable fetus, which no majority of Democrats would ever vote for under pain of punishment from the party inquisitors still failed to advance despite a majority of ‘Registered Republicans.”

To their credit, there were three Democrats that voted against the motion to table the bill.

Response to hate mongering Jennifer Abbott extolling the Southern Policy Law Center

OWNING AN ASSAULT RIFLE IS MORE IMPORTANT A CHILD’S LIFE? RIDICULOUS!

SPLC haters

What is ridiculous is her illogical assertion; one could figuratively see the spittle coming from her lips; h Her letter is after the jump.  My response (emphasis now added):

To the Editor,

This is in response to Jennifer Abbott’s jeremiad extolling the wonders of the Southern Poverty Law Center. True, it was invaluable during the Civil Rights era, it has degenerated into a hate mongering entity that accuse others as being such. Why do I say that?

Anything or anyone that is against the the Progressive (or as she says “enlightened”) morality it holds are labeled as hate groups or hate filled people without exception.

Update on David Goethel: “Fisherman who sued feds thrilled about funding for monitoring”

David Goethel Dont Tread On Me

Steve took on the story of Portsmouth commercial fisherman Dave Goethel a while ago in complaining about overreaching and expensive regulations that were threatening to bankrupt small New England businesses:

A Federal Court has sided with the Government and NOAA in the ongoing effort to put local New Hampshire Fisherman out of business.

A group led by New Hampshire fisherman David Goethel sued the government over the rule change. The fishermen lost in federal district court and appealed. A 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel in Boston agreed with the lower court on Friday that the group didn’t file its lawsuit within a 30-day statute of limitations.

Yep – this fits.

But I’m sure some SJW (Social Justice Warrior) with their deranged sense of morality and always looking for some form of micro-aggression will complain that the Real Man is guilty of non-consensual touching….sheesh…. (H/T: Powerline)

No Need for Bitterness, Hillary

Bill and HillaryOn Election Day 2016, Hillary Clinton experienced a life-changing event. She transitioned from presidential shoo-in to embittered loser. Today, she still travels the world justifying her loss and disparaging the winner. But Hillary has no reason to be bitter, for she and her husband have a special gift that no other politician has.

We all remember the legend of Midas, the Greek king so consumed with greed that he made a pact with a deity giving him the ability to turn everything he touched into gold. But, in fables, there are always strings attached – consequences. And his blessing became a curse when Midas inadvertently turned his beloved daughter into a statue of gold.

Reflecting back on the lives of Bill and Hillary Clinton, it’s hard not to think of the Midas legend. Like the Greek king, here are two life-long politicians, public servants, who have inexplicably, one might even say magically, amassed a king’s ransom.

I guess she doesn’t know what REAL fear can be and “feelz” won’t save her

Courage is the mastery of Fear“This is a all a hoax about people who think a right granted 250 yrs ago is more important than people’s right to live and not be in fear.”

– Patti Story (commenting on the WDL 2A Rally a couple of weeks ago now…….)

She’s wrong on both accounts.  First, the Right to self-defense as embodied in the Second Amendment is not “granted” in the Bill of Rights, it was simply enumerated as being an existing Right that preceded the formation of the United States and was known to be a Right from God and Nature’s God simply by dint of being human.  “Granted” was never in their vocabulary. If a Right is “granted,” it can be taken away and they shuddered at the idea that they were creating a Hobbesian form of government.

She also, along with most Progressives, makes the error that “proper” history only starts the day before they were born – anything before that must not be relevant to the current day (fools that they are).
