Is it possible that Nashua politicians know masks won’t do anything, but they want to yank your chain (virtue signal) and make you think they care and are protecting you? Or are they idiots who get their science from Trump-hating MSNBC talking heads?
All of the above?
The CDC has said general masking is pointless.
The World Health Organization has said, “Masks should only be used by health care workers, caretakers or by people who are sick with symptoms of fever and cough. Dr. April Baller, a public health specialist for the W.H.O.adds that the danger to a healthy person wearing a mask is a “false feeling of protection.”
The New England Journal of Medicine, as Ed pointed out two days ago, has come out and said, “We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little if any, protection from infection.” That “The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.”
Maskachusetts mandated them in public statewide. A plan idiot-leftists from Mesmerized Messmers to a majority of House Democrats, and uber-left-wing candidates for governor demanded we embrace; in opposition to actual science and a growing health-care-community consensus.
Maskholes in Salem, NH, tried and failed for a local ordinance where Nashua’s Alderman openly embraced a mandate and passed it. One that by default includes an enforcement mechanism (all city ordinance passed, do) along with up to a 1000.00 fine.
Nashua, regarded by many as the most corrupt city in the state, is top-heavy with idiot-leftists. And there is a high probability that they get their science from MSNBC. But the other thing that any collection of Democrats in a majority cannot resist is the totalitarian tick. Ed likened it to a forced public statement. An expression of political ideology that comes with a fine if you refuse to comply.
And perhaps we can test that thesis. The New England Journal of Medicine noted (NEJM) that masking in public does little or nothing. That there is very little proof, they do anything in the health care setting either unless they are not having direct interactions with symptomatic patients. They do, however, recommend, that,
First and foremost, a mask is a core component of the personal protective equipment (PPE) clinicians need when caring for symptomatic patients with respiratory viral infections, in conjunction with gown, gloves, and eye protection.
I’m confident I have heard someone say that Nashua is not looking to cite or fine people because of this mandate and that this is an opportunity to educate them.
If that’s true, the first order of business is to explain to them that mandatory masking in public does little more than provide a false sense of security. And that if they are genuinely concerned about slowing or stopping the spread, they need to wear gloves and eye protection.
Anything less is both a lie and a disservice to the stated point of the ordinance. Assuming, of course, that the stated purpose of the law is actually what the idiot-leftists in Nashua were after.
The Lie was probably the point all along.
