I try to read all of the posts put up on GraniteGrok and two of the latest ones, “California Bans Tiny Shampoo Bottles in Hotels – Creating a Bigger Problem Than They “Solve?” and “New York Goes Full San Fran. Never Go Full San Fran” by Groksters Steve and Chris respectively, show a little bit of what Moniyhan wrote. Socialists use politics to bend behavior to that which they approve.  No, not just in crime type situations (e.g., “thou shalt not commit violence / crimes” types of deals) but to force changes behaviors to which they believe to be more “moral”.  The problem is that “what is moral” for them is based solely on subjective feelings and we all know that “feelz” change from day to day, month to month, year to year.  In their subjective moralizing, EVERYTHING is game to their “touch”.  And they “touch” is to create their desired feedback cycle – gain the political edge to change the culture, change the culture via politics, the culture warps their chances to the good in maintaining the political edge.

Regular readers of the ‘Grok know we write a lot about traditional values; values that are clearly under attack – and now rather blatantly.  The shampoo bottles – politics reaching in to change something that works (I’ve spent thousands of nights in hotels) for transient stays for the watermelon ideology (green masquerading the red) and the Orwellian march of the Progressives to change the language (Chris’s post on NYC’s demand that “perp” and “illegal aliens”, San Fran’s on “felon”, and the mine on the LGBT agenda to mandate “pronoun” usage in schools).

Each, in its tiny way, is to force the culture’s Overton Window leftward.  Each is meant for push a control mechanism.  They CAN’T just leave us alone to have our own culture – they’d fail if they did.  They are unable to understand that some of us just want to be left alone with the culture we had (or what’s left of it) because “we’re all in this together”.  More likely, though, it seems that the DNC Convention’s tag line of a while ago of “Government is the one thing we all belong to” is not a warning but a recipe.

We liked our traditions. We liked our norms. And our history (small example here). We love our nation, warts and all – we have done more good than not.  And even as we hear that “this stigma” and “that stigma” must be torn down and removed in order to “help others”, we know that traditions, norms, and stigmas are the unofficial laws that keep Society health.  Sure, some of needed to be replaced but Progressives are removing a lot that we needed (e.g., really, we need safe spaces for addicts to inject poison into their arms and then give them new needles?  We need to continue the sexualization of our children by removing the fences that kept them safe from predators?, that we need to remove the stigma of “low level” theft? Gender changes, what’s right and wrong, absolute values vs moral relativism, changing inside/outside, the loss of the value of being a Citizen). It goes on and on.

Change the culture, change the politics. Unless the intent was first under the radar.

But now it’s blatant. Without asking us – or anyone else.

Utopia. Like Socialism, a thing of the future that is supposed to be magnificent.  Problem is, we can never have a Heaven on Earth because we are all fallen. Utopia is unobtainable.

Thus, it is just about Power. And they’re not sharing.
