common-sense gun safety?
“Nobody is coming to take your Guns.” Who said it? Actually, I should ask, “Who said it first?” Here in the Granite State, The answer would be most of the Democratic Candidates who have run for public office within the last ten years. The short answer is that nearly everybody said it.
Yet, here they are, marching toward full gun control and full registration of firearms. History is a mindful teacher, telling us that eventual gun confiscation will follow. Looking back fifty or more years, we witnessed this in England, Australia and most recently, New Zealand.
HB 109 FN, Whose prime sponsor is Assault Rep Katherine Rogers, seeks to, “Require Background Checks for Commercial Firearms Sales.” This bill is a redundancy on existing law. However, there is one sneaky little phrase in the bill that has not been defined: “[a]nd compliance with all federal, state, and local recordkeeping requirements.”
So the bill reiterates, except for parts that are at odds with Federal law, existing law. But the subtle sneakiness is the compliance with local record keeping. The bill merely paves the way for gun registration. Be certain that bill is coming.
HB 687 FN, Whose prime sponsor is Lunatic Rep. Debrah Altschiller, seeks to enact law that makes a complete end run around all aspects of fundamental due process. Essentially, any family member, local law enforcement official or “ex-spouse,” can go to a court and make an affidavit, ex parte, and have guns removed by force. There is one sentence regarding false allegations in the bill making it a, “Class A Misdemeanor,” to make a false allegation. It is a Class B felony, on the other hand, to defy one of these orders.
Let us have a look back to 2011 at, State vs. Kristin Ruggiero. This is probably one of the most hateful, diabolical women to ever draw breath. She went to maximum efforts to falsely accuse and destroy her ex-husband, Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Jeffrey Ruggiero. Her charade only unfolded because one small town Police Chief actually took the time to have a second look at the evidence. Pleas coming from Jeff Ruggiero while he sat in the Rockingham County Jail. I blogged extensively about this case eight years ago. Here, Here, Here, Here, and Here. Make HB 687 law and hateful spouses have yet another tool in the arsenal.
HB 514 FN imposes a waiting period for firearms purchases. Do waiting periods have any impact on how firearms are used? No. Nevertheless, these Democrats would have you believing otherwise. But here is the real rub: Paragraph II, which states,
A licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector shall make available records of firearm sales for inspection by any state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, during normal business hours.
That sneaky little gun registration scheme finds its way into the statute.
Harpies and Hoplophobes
Essentially, these small inane phrases have deep-reaching consequences. New Hampshire is clearly on the march toward draconian gun control that mirrors metropolitan, Democrat-controlled sewers like Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Oakland, and Atlanta just to name a few.
There are twenty-one Democratic candidates vying to be the nominee to run against Donald Trump in 2020. All of them are openly hostile to the Second Amendment. You can bet they are bringing all that drivel here. Jacob Sullum writes in Reason, That Democrats never came out directly for Gun Control, but,
”they called for “common-sense gun safety,” a euphemism that reflects a general caginess about how far they would go in restricting the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”
Houligan Castro stated outright, “People would not own handguns.” Kamala Harris states, “you can be in favor of the Second Amendment and want to take everyone’s guns away.” Of course the Fake Indian Granny Warren, Eric Swallowell and the other merry band of left-wing idiots will not be out-anti-gunned.
Granite States, and the rest of America, for that matter, can choose to do one of two things: First, they can sit on their asses and do nothing; or they can vote. Vote for candidates who are pro-second amendment.
Remember when the left used to say, “We’re not coming for your guns?” Well, they are coming for your guns.
