I have to admit that Shawn Millerick got me good when he said I couldn’t spell.  Actually, the problem is that I am not terribly adept at typing and I try to squeeze out posts before work and after the kids go to bed.  I’m not always thorough.  But on a positive note, I don’t make up meetings out of thin air to smear my political opponents.

Michigan Right To Work…Voters Set The Stage

Lee Stranahan has a nice Graphic that gives us a view of how voters in Michigan sent a signal to their state representatives.

In a state Obama won easily by 9 points, a ballot measure to make collective barging a constitutional right in that state failed by 15 points.  Stranhan suggests that the confluence of these to sets of votes–as contradictory as they might seem–was  a message to legislators that there was room for Right to Work in Michigan.

Boffo! Boehner & Boys are really burnishing the Repub Brand!

And the Establishment wonders why the Republican approval rating in Congress is at an all time low?  And that’s with the general population – imagine what it is with HIGH-information Right of Center folks watching Boehner’s climbing a thousand foot ladder on his knees to get Obama’s and Reid’s approval?  Thus far, what has all that DC Republican groveling gotten them?  And us, the base, watching Obama’s smile get larger and larger??

  • Obama starts out wanting $800 Billion, then jumps to $1.3 Trillion over 10 years
  • Obama is willing to only $850 Billion in cuts
  • Obama want rates upped on the wealthy over $400K (he’s out to destroy the rich – you watch) and he can now pin this on those hated Republicans.
  • Obama wants $50 Billion more in stimulus (er, what, we already spent $1 Trillion – and other than fatter Govt employee wallets, what do we have to show for it?)
  • Obama wants to control the National Debt unilaterally.

You known, Boehner didn’t learn a thing from the Prez Primary, did he?  Each and every time someone came out swinging, stood their ground, and stood for Principle, their ratings improved (yes, sadly, then they imploded on other stuff, but that’s beside the point).  Republicans appreciated someone standing for up what they believed – and defended them against those that stood for everything they were against. Sure, it was a primary when you have to appeal to the base, but given that the grassroots doesn’t trust the Establishment to begin with, there is certainly much angst in the base when they see what appears to be a complete meltdown of backbone from a PR standpoint “Ew, what will the Media say about us NOW?  Waaaaa!”).  Every time Boehner gives in, Obama wants more and gets Reid and Pelosi to continue Operation Humiliation; their Lucy to to Boehner’s football.  Obama is just laughing and laughing.

NH Right To KnowWe here at the ‘Grok have used RTK requests( NH’s RSA 91-A, the Right To Know law which is better known elsewhere as FOIA – Freedom Of Information Act) a few times in the past (Richard De Seve, the DES employee blogging on NH taxpayer dime, getting emails from the NH Water Commission that is looking to revoke private water rights) and we have a new project coming up soon.  I have also used this in my own town, and have given advice to others trying to get information from recalcitrant public officials and department at town, county, and State level.

One thing we have ALL found out is that when these recalcitrants decide to truly be recalcitrant (as in “Who do these subject believe themselves to be?  You’ll get it IF I feel like it and when I get around to it”), there was little recourse that the normal citizen had except to take their valuable time and spend their hard earned cash to sue in court to get data that they have already paid for via their taxes.  Elected officials and bureaucrats could just wait them out or stymie the requestors by withholding data – without worrying about any consequences .

She knows why she is just being diplomatic.  The Feds have made lunch cost more.  They have made the cost of providing lunch cost more.  They have simultaneously required foods that a majority of the target hot lunch customer base does not enjoy while making foods they do less accessible or unavailable.  The result is more cost for less benefit.

Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA): “The Rights of the few…”

Every Sunday, I DVR the talking head shows.  This week was more arduous than most because we already knew what the topic du show were going to be: Newtown and the horrific event that happened there.  Knowing, too, who was going to be on the shows, I heard exactly what I thought I would – call for increased gun control under the stereotypical Progressive rubrics of “Nobody needs that” and “I don’t know anyone that…” as if on their worldview, only their “acceptable” items should be purchased under some strange definition of “Freedom”.  But that wasn’t the worst of it – my eyes nearly popped when I hear Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA, San Francisco) say the following on “Meet the Press” (emphasis mine):

Is this the way we want America to go?  In other words, the Rights of the few overcome the safety of the Majority?  I don’t think so!  I think America is ready (on her intent to submit a gun control bill on the first day of the next session).

The “Rights of the few” – funny, I always thought that Rights were an innate part of the ALL simply because they are US Citizens.  Perhaps I am just too old school for these fascist Progressives – I do believe in what the Founders wrote that our Rights are given to us by our Creator and Nature’s God and not just a bunch of legislators yammering away.  Sadly, she is from the philosophical Left that only believes that when it is conducive to their argument of the day.

Jeanne Shaheen Wants to Ban Guns

Tragedy always attracts a parade of progressive mountebanks, anxious to peddle their faulty wares as cures for what ails us, and US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D- Utopia) is no different.  In response to the heinous criminal acts perpetrated in Newtown, Connecticut she observed that…

“We need a comprehensive approach that includes improving access to mental health services, better enforcement of our current laws, and we need to get deadly assault weapons off our streets.”

Whatever you do, do not ask Senator Shaheen to describe an ‘Assault weapon’ because I am reasonably certain her talking points palm card did not include that.

Someone Else Now A Solid Second For NH-GOP Chairman

What a difference five days makes.  Last tuesday we reported on a poll running at the political fiction section of the NH Blogosphere (also known as NH Journal), in which the establishment candidate for NH-GOP chairman, Jennifer Horn was running in third place behind Andrew Hemingway and ‘Someone Else.’

A few hours later we updated that story with a report of an alert on Horn’s Facebook page about the poll that had pushed her into second but that surge seems to have vanished.  ‘Someone Else’ is now leading Jen Horn by 11 points.
