Carol Seiu-Porter gets 50% of her PAC money from Unions. You remember the Unions? Their leadership extorts taxpayer dollars away from the real workers to pay union employees then demands that they tithe money to them for the privilege of doing it again. Then they give some of it to Carol so she can help protect their interests.
That’s hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars filtered through union employees to a candidate they might not even support.
Carol also gets another 48% from congressional PAC’s, most of whom are heavily funded by unions. These are congresspersons–some of them avowed socialists–who like Carol see no problem in giving the public sector employees more feed than those who work to feed them.
In exchange for that money Carol supports everything the unions want whether it is good for New Hampshire or not. She loves their golden goose, card check, which would eliminate the secret ballot for organizing a union. It allows unions to strong arm people into joining. Unions do still do that. Ask her AFL-CIO Buddy Richard Trumka. (and here). And while I’m at it some of my own ruminations Here, Here, and Here. (and why not here as well).
Carol will say something stupid like it puts the unions on the same level as the corporations, but will Carol give companies the same kind of public ballot "card check" to dissolve a union? No frikkin way. A company that could legally break a bargaining agreement by simply asking employees to sign cards without anyone from the Union even there? They could go house to house, ask them at lunch, in the parking lot after work. That would be intimidation or extortion. She’d never go for that. But we are meant to believe letting unions do that exact same thing–and they will–is no big deal? The secret ballot is sacred, but Carol keeps trying to desecrate it’s alter–she voted for card check in 2007 and is the co-sponsor of the 2009 bill.
Carol supports the DISCLOSE act, which gives unions and union money free speech rights that no one else will have. That’s supposed to be fair? Fair to whom? Why Carol’s incumbency of course.
Carol want’s illegal immigrants to be able to join unions without providing proof of citizenship or legal residence. She refused to send a bill back to committee to clarify language that allowed this loophole,
And perhaps worst of all, by failing to act or in any way oppose union violence or intimidation, Carol has condoned violence and intimidation by unions against opponents–who also happen to be her political opponents, and against the actual workers in the union to keep them in line. No, she’s too busy spending their money to make a peep about it, but I’m sure she has plenty to say about right wing hate she can neither find nor prove.
This is political corruption, plain and simple. It is DC insider pay to play politics. Unions keep Carol in office, Carol protects union power. Unions extort the kinds of wages and benefits no one else gets, which drain local budgets and drive cities and states to the edge of bankruptcy. And Carol would love to cement that process of destruction by allowing unions to form by sheer will, and to use free speech to keep her in office, so she can continue to collect more and more money from them.
So if you have concerns about where politicians are getting their campaign cash, look no further than Carol Seiu-Porter. She’s helping unions milk you so she can stay in power, whether you agree with her or not.
For some reason, that is not illegal
