Back on April 1st, we reported on a ruling by a Judge in Los Angeles. A non-profit had sued 90 coffee companies claiming they had violated Prop 65 which required them to warn customers about a chemical in brewed coffee (acrylamide) that could lead to cancer.

WMUR is reporting that Weare, NH House Rep Neal Kurk will not seek a 17th term.
Kurk, a fiscal watchdog and privacy hawk, is in his 16th term in the House, and according to several sources, has decided not to seek a 17th term in 2018. During many of those terms, Kurk chaired the House’s most powerful committee, which plays a huge role in the development of the state budget and has significant input on all fiscal matters.

Mr. Trump met with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un. They sat, talked, signed a joint statement, and parted on what appeared to be good terms.

State Court Blocks Deerfield Illinois Gun Confiscation Ordinance
An Illinois State Court has temporarily blocked a local ordinance that bans ownership of certain firearms and required owners to turn them in or face fines of 1000.00 dollars a day. The Lake County Circuit Court held that the Deerfield, Illinois ordinance violates State preemption laws.
The law would have taken effect yesterday, on June 13th.

After Parkland Dick’s Sporting Goods declared that it would no longer sell ‘scary rifles’ nor would it sell firearms to anyone under the age of twenty-one. Since then, Dick’s is reported to have hired three lobbyists to push Gun Control which the NSSF has decided is a bridge too far.

Sununu May Veto Net Metering Expansion and Fuel Diversity Bill
There’s a rumor goin’ round that Gov Sununu is planning to veto two pieces of legislation. The first, SB446, would drive up electric rates by forcing companies like EverSource to buy more green energy at retail rates (instead of wholesale) for qualified “green energy” from anyone who generates it in the State.
The second, SB365, would also drive up rates by mandating that power companies purchase MORE Biomass “green” energy.
Environmental virtue-signaling costs you more. It costs businesses more. It costs jobs, growth, you get the picture.

In a case brought against the State of Ohio over how it interprets Federal law regarding the removal of ineligible voters from state voting rolls, four out of nine Justices attempted to legislate from the bench in deciding HUSTED v. A. PHILIP RANDOLPH INSTITUTE.
“Respondents contend that Ohio’s process for removing voters on change-of-residence grounds violates this federal law,” The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), and Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA).

Seattle City Council Repeals Head Tax
On May 17th we reported the imposition by the Seattle City Council and its mayor of a head tax. A special levy on Employers in the city banking 20 million or more per year, including ubiquitous brands like Amazon and Starbucks.
Both of those corporate giants, among others immediately began funding a repeal referendum for the November ballot.
Opponents had already collected nearly 46,000 signatures from voters in support of a repeal initiative, well more than the 17,000 needed to qualify for the ballot, according to the Downtown Seattle Association, a business group which led the petition drive.
