Family Separation Week Bonus: Democrats Reject ‘Bi-Partisan’ Legislative Fix To Stop “Family Separations”

Senator Charles Ellis Schumer, D-NY and Anti-gun Charlatan

Border Security and immigration policy are matters of law. In a land of laws, with the rule of law, the law defines the terms. In America, if you come here without permission, you can get arrested, no matter what your age or who may be with you. This leads to parents getting separated from their children. Something Democrats suddenly care about.

The fix, if you really want one, is legislative. If Congress changes the law and the president signs it those are the new rules, and everyone after that point needs to follow them.

Chuck Schumer has declined an opportunity to fix this.

SCOTUS Upholds South Dakota’s Right to Tax Online Sales From Retailers Outside the State

taxeslgYuck.

The Commerce Clause must not prefer interstate commerce only to the point where a merchant physically crosses state borders. Rejecting the physical presence rule is necessary to ensure that artificial competitive advantages are not created by this Court’s precedents. This Court should not prevent States from collecting lawful taxes through a physical presence rule that can be satisfied only if there is an employee or a building in the State….

Liberal NextGen Dumps “Steyer-Youth” Group And Pile of Cash on New Hampshire

Is that Doneky wearing "Naked Undies?"

I’d like to check the pulse of the “money-out-of-politics” crowd, mostly far-left progressives, on Billionaire Tom Steyer starting up another NextGen political money laundering operation in New Hampshire.

I predict a flatline. No outrage. No protests. No complaints of any kind about the California Billionaire dumping another $30 million into state politics, $750,000.00 right here in New Hampshire.

Donald Trump Pulls United States Out of the UN Human Rights Council

Nikki Haley US withdraws from UN human Rights Council

Yesterday, Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo announced the United States intention to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council citing its entrenched bias against Israel and inclusion of “notorious human rights abusers” as members.

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who has sought major changes on the council throughout her tenure, issued a blistering critique of the panel, saying it had grown more callous over the past year and become a “protector of human rights abusers and a cesspool of political bias.” She cited the admission of Congo as a member even as mass graves were being discovered there, and the failure to address human rights abuses in Venezuela and Iran.

The UN Human Rights Council is a joke. The preeminent example of letting wolves “guard” the Hen House.

Seeking Asylum Separates ‘Parents’ From “Children” Especially When You Lie About It

immigration-stop-cropped-internal

Of the few “children” who cross the border illegally “accompanied” by a parent or family member the most common cause of separation is seeking asylum.

If they just turned around and went home, they’d never have to part with their kids. If they applied to enter legally, they’d never be separated from their kids. But by seeking asylum, they force the government to detain them independently. And because of a decade’s old ruling by the Ninth Circus court of appeals, the US can only detain the kids for 20 days. After that, they have to find a suitable guardian while the asylee is processed (which can take months), separating them further from their kids.

Gov. Sununu Vetoes “Energy” Bills That Would Drive Up Electric Rates

Residential solar installLast week we shared a rumor that Governor Chris Sununu was prepared to veto SB 365 and SB 466. Both pieces of legislation were bipartisan sops to green energy that would drive up our already unreasonably high electric rates.

That rumor is now a fact.

In his veto statement on Tuesday, Sununu said the two bills would cost Granite State ratepayers approximately $100 million over the next three years in higher electricity costs, placing a strain on the elderly, those on fixed incomes and businesses.

SCOTUS Will Hear Case That Could Subject Asset Forfeiture to 8th Amendment

Civil Asset Forfeiture

The Stop Asset Forfeiture folks should take note.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court decided to consider Timbs v. Indiana, an important constitutional property rights case. As my co-blogger Eugene Volokh and Reason’s Damon Root explain, the case will address the question of whether the Excessive Fines Clause of the Eighth Amendment applies against states, as well as the federal government. If the Supreme Court decides that the Clause does apply against the states, it will also have to consider exactly what kinds of fines qualify as “excessive” and to what extent the Clause applies to asset forfeitures, as well as more conventional fines.

It’s Family Separation Week at CNN – Retaliatory Carpet Truth Bombing Required

CNN NewsOne of the televisions at Cardiac Rehab was on CNN this morning. The volume is down (thank the Lord), but it has closed captioning, so you can read (or not) what’s important to the Leader in Fake News. It’s all about “separating families.” The whole time I was there.

CNN is, not unexpectedly, all in and 100% focused on propagandizing a Democrat party talking point. Did I say not unexpectedly?

A progressive hypocrisy I exposed here just a few days ago. To which I am prepared to add.

SCOTUS Wont End Gerrymandering

Gerrymandering - Daryl Cagle.comThe U.S. Supreme Court has declined to intervene in how Wisconsin draws its legislative districts. From the Washington Times.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., writing for the court, said it wasn’t enough to claim that Wisconsin’s districts were drawn to favor one party or another. The plaintiffs needed to prove they individually were unable to vote for a credible candidate of their choice because of the gerrymander.

“Athletic Performance” and “Longevity” are “Western values” Based on Elite White Bias

I want to be a feminist when I grow upTwo Feminist health “experts” included a chapter in their new book in which they mull “mainstream nutrition science” and how it “rests upon elite, white, and educated modes of thinking, and that the values mainstream nutrition promotes are “Western values.” “

No, they aren’t happy about that.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t feminism and therefore feminist health a white elite western value?

As Grok Prepares To Take it to the Next Level It’s Time to See Where We Rank With Alexa

alexa traffic rankBefore we were hacked in April GraniteGrok climbed up the Alexa Rankings (for Online news or media sites in New Hampshire) to do battle with the top 5. The redirect did some damage to that, and we almost dropped out of the top ten.

That was not great, and we’ve written about the redirects that plagued readers, but some good has come out of it. We amped up the fundraising and our new Web site, which Skip lovingly refers to as Grok 3.0, is under construction. The new security is a lot better and we’ve got some very serious plans for this platform that will, yes literally, take us to the next level.

So what level are we on now? I asked Alexa’s ranking where we stood in the New Hampshire Political/News interwebs and here’s what I learned.

Liberal Hypocrisy on Separating Children From Parents or Families

Legal Immigration
Image #: 30916000 The Post-Standard /Landov

The left has settled into its latest anti-Trump narrative. He’s evil because he separates parents and children. That’s funny because an entire progressive social experiment or (experiments) championed and defended by liberals has been separating parents and children for decades. And I’m not talking about abortion.

No fault divorce. Modern Feminism. Glorifying single-motherhood. The infantilzation of boys and men. A Welfare state weaponized by progressives politicians to keep children away from at least one parent. But wait! There’s more!

Panera Bread “Pay What You Want” Experiment Fails Because…

Panera-Cares-Cafe BostonHave you heard of something called conscious capitalism? It “suggests that consumers will do good if given the opportunity.”

Then there’s this.

Other researchers coined the term “responsibilization”–the idea that responsibility for social issues is shifting away from the government and nonprofits and toward businesses and consumers.

You could have fooled me, but let’s go with it because of Panera Bread’s recently failed experiment with what it called Panera ‘Cares.’ It is a pay what you want proposition that is collapsing under its own weight because while the intentions appear good the execution was flawed because the motivations were not really philanthropic, and it (as is so often the case) ignored human nature.
