As in “we’re all in this together”.  Voluntarily being part of a group is one thing if it is voluntary but Progressives / Socialists / Collectivists brook no dissent – you WILL be made to be all in (with them in charge).  This article at Bearing Arms lays out the contradiction that is tearing apart the American polity as these two philosophies are diametrically opposed.  There CAN BE NO COMPROMISE between the two.  While Individualists are fine with anyone who just wants to be left alone, Collectivists DEMAND that this cannot be allowed to happen (reformatted, emphasis mine).  The story is of a father who carries and a mom who demands that only the State has the ability for violence (reformatted, emphasis mine):

At a very fundamental level, individualists and collectivists see the world in a very different way.

Individuals look at a problem or issue and think, “what can I do about it?”

Collectivists look at a problem and think, “what can I do to get someone else to do about this?”

And that is the major difference between those of us

On the surface it is a paradox that the Democrat Party, which claims that it is the party for women, minorities, young people, and whatever other group it can conceivably define as aggrieved, invariably harms each of them.  So after years of pandering and false claims of racism and wars on women, under Democrat control in Washington and Concord, labor force participation for women is at more than a 30 year low under the Obama Adminstration. Unemployment among black Americans, especially among young people, as well as their rates of poverty, are at levels not seen since the Great Depression.

In Concord, we have listened to this rhetoric for three of the last four legislative terms and it has always lead to more spending.  And it is in that fact – the growth of Government generated by ever increasing spending by Democrats – that lays the solution to this paradox in New Hampshire.  When government grows, the economy stagnates and it is the most vulnerable among us- the young, minorities, the historically disadvantaged, who suffer first, suffer the most and suffer the longest when the economy isn’t growing.

You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel.

By Southern California standards, someone owning 100,000 rounds is considered “mentally unstable.”

In Michigan, he’d be called “The last guy still living in Detroit.”

Millions of dollars worth of television news trucks are sitting under tarps in Kabul years after the State Department bought them as donations for Afghan broadcasters, a letter from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction said.  One of the three trucks, which together cost the government $3.6 million, was damaged en route to Afghanistan in July.  Purchased to help Afghans cover live sporting events, the satellite trucks are “still covered by shipping material.”

July.  Which means this year.  Which means the Obama Administration.  So, even as we are blowing up and scrapping other expensive gear that costs taxpayers tens if not hundreds of dollars – what, you couldn’t repurpose some of those vehicles?  After all, they’re just setting around, too!  But wait – it gets worse:

I was not in my usual seat at GrokTALK! this morning so I’m listening to it here on iHeart radio and just after the start of the show (7:34), Steve says something I need to quickly expand upon:

Keep in mind that their argument was that they didn’t have a choice that there were Republicans who were going to vote for it anyways and they were trying to soften the blow but doesn’t make a difference.

Right….these “Republican Establishment Elite have to provide themselves with an out (NH State Senator Chuck Morse, NH State Senator Jeb Bradley, NH State Senator David Boutin, NH State Senator Bob Odell and the other cast of usual suspects) and a scapegoat – as one of those that would was going to do an unRepublican type vote was NH State Senator Nancy Stiles.

So the utterly political wail from these spineless ones is “Don’t blame us – blame HER!”. Just like Obama, very willing to charter a bus under which to throw her. Except they have one really big problem concerning NH State Senator Nancy Stiles!

It could – but considering how much ill will Scott Brown has engendered amongst the Second Amendment groups and activists, it would not surprise me that Papa Smurf put out the word “icksnay on the unsgay”.  Folks know of his voting record in MA and his post 9/11 statements concerning bans – his protestations to the opposite, the Trust factor is just not there.  And on the First Amendment part you asked about:

Another pile of steaming, smelly stuff from Carol Shea-Porter in the NH1 / WBIN debate.  Yes, that same Carol Shea-Porter that stole GraniteGrok copyrighted material and used it in her campaign ads without permission.  But like all Progressives, laws are only for the little people (and she ain’t one of us, I guess) and considers herself above the law.  During her latest debate with Frank Guinta, she let lose another line that had me staring at the screen (16:00 – video after the jump until I can get their formatting right):

“People didn’t lose their policies as you know and if you don’t, you can look it up”

Well, I DIDN’T have to look it up, Carol – I was one of your NH constituents that DID lose his policy – one that I liked and one that was affordable to me. The paperwork that came to me from my company explicitly said that my plan had to be replaced because Obamacare mandated stuff that I didn’t want or need.  To have made that statement make you out to be a flaming liar for craven political purposes or marks you as rather stupid (or both).  MY healthcare plan changed, my premiums went UP due to Obamacare, and having just had a doctor’s appt (which, unlike others, I got to keep this one – others, not so much) to which I now get to pay a MUCH higher deductible and a much larger bill when TMEW and I go to the Pharmacy.

For her to have made that statement is sheer

unmitigated gall on her part – and yes, I watched that smarmy teacher smirk all night long so to hear this utter fabrication was just par for the course.

I think I may be shifting over to WBIN / NH1 (Bill Binnie’s nascent media empire – the TV version) for watching the political debates for one simple reason: they are willing to share their video and allow folks like us to embed them.  WMUR – not so much as unless I wanna spend a goodly amount of time sussing out their HTML / CSS / Java code, it’s very difficult to find the actual references to their video (a “coding” paywall, if you would).

Anyways, they are running their debates and and I watched the Guinta / SEUI-Porter one.  I’m actually re-listening to it as I’m trying to find 1 sentence that CSP uttered but I came across this one *here, 8:39):
