Way back when, Barry Obama created what we still call The Opioid CrisisTM (no mention of that in his Lie-Barry, I’d guess), I said, without reservation, that its purpose was to grow government and bloated budgets. Create a therapy and treatment dependency class (occupational and patient). What we’ve taken to calling a government jobs program. Get more bodies tied to government dependency, and their self-interest forces them to vote for Marxists in Democrat-Socialist clothing.
That’s what happened. And it got worse, and the government said we need to throw more money at it. And they did, and it got worse because the money isn’t meant to make it better; it is to set the baseline for the next budget request. Case in point. From the NH Bulletin, which is a left-wing fake news site, “a Privately Funded Media Laundromat for Approved Democrat Narratives,” in case you forgot.
“Shaheen and Hassan reintroduce $65 billion federal opioid response plan”
For example, it would increase funding states receive for the State Opioid Response Program by almost $4 billion to $5.5 billion over five years. That program, which provides more funding per capita to states hardest hit by the opioid crisis, gave $29.9 million to New Hampshire in fiscal year 2025. New Hampshire spends much of the money on The Doorway recovery program. The Doorway operates nine treatment centers throughout New Hampshire in a “hub-and-spoke” model that helps patients navigate various recovery services like medication-assisted treatment and mental health therapy.
All of which would be less expensive and more effective if it were privately funded by so-called caring millionaires like Hassan and Shaheen, wealthy Marxists, etc., Inc. But that doesn’t create government jobs, and neither does funding border security or military interventions that resulted in as much as a 21% decline in overdose deaths in 2025. The 2026 prediction is estimated to be at least 13%. Drug crime is down, violent crime is down, drug crime is down, and both Hassan and Shaheen opposed funding the things that made that happen. Things, I should point out, are actually the job of the Federal government.
Raping taxpayers not born yet (plus interest) to launder money into a government jobs program labeled “opioid response” is not its job. Even if you think it burnishes your resume, it’s not the Federal Government’s job, even when it happens to be a problem created primarily by Democrats and their Deep State allies (in the jobs program) who created it.

If you look beyond this particular issue, you may find a commonality across every policy or issue you might encounter, escaping the pitfall of an elected Democrat. More money, the problem gets worse, more money, worse, and so on. But it sounds like they care, and they do, but not about the problem to which they are speaking. They care about political power, and while there might be a few rubes who still believe that laundering money through government agencies, accountants, treasury, more agencies, and then to some favored NGO who “makes sure” some of what is left gets to someone somewhere, while Shaheen and Hassan are Democrats, they’re not idiots.
This is more high-profile marketing of their addiction, and they all have it. It’s to other people’s money, or more specifically, pillaging the masses to finance their lifestyles through the surrogacy of their false sense of moral superiority.
Look, we’re doing something. You are. You are stealing money that’s not yours, from generations yet born. Money that the person who earned it might spend on what’s important to you, but you don’t trust them, and (if you were honest) you’d admit that direct donation bypasses the laundromat and the jobs program that keeps you in office to steal more.
Most of that 65 billion will get Newsomed up into the system, where the only good it will do is pad the pockets of ’employed dependents’ who won’t even donate their portion of the spoils to the local drug rehab clinic. They will give it to some Democrat campaign or an activist group, both of which exist to elect Socialists to launder more money, at least while it lasts.
The fact that they are in denial about what happens when the socialists take over for good is what makes them idiots, stooges, or perhaps rubes. Yeah, Hassan and Shaheen might get a seat at the table or some deference for their good works “for the people,” but you will be living in the shit with the rest of us, if they let you live. There’s a long history of Socialist regimes eliminating the troublemakers who helped them get into power.
