Hypocrisy: Thy name be Al Gore (yet another Progressive)!

Since the Kyoto Climate Change treaty was rejected by the US Senate (and this uber-Progressive getting “the boot from the Oval Office” (losing his election)), we’ve had to put up with his (environmental) screeds in the national papers (and TV) about how Republicans (and Conservatives and Climate Deniers)  that if we all didn’t don his brand of hairshirt, drive electric Tonka trucks, use only 1 lightbulb, and the like, that the “planet’s fever” would destroy the planet.  Deniers: hate the poor, hate seniors, hate the disadvantaged, hate Bambi, and want the Greedy Capitalists to rule the world.  Profit is a dirty!

…Al Gore also talks to investors. Since 2007, the former Vice President in Bill Clinton’s administration has been preaching the benefits of putting your money where his mouth is: Alternative energy.

But if Al Gore has any message for investors today, it might very well be this: “Stay the hell away from alternative energy!”

 Not that he would say so. At least out loud.

Climate policy is still firmly on the political agenda and corporate climate-related activity is increasingly strategic. Innovation is driving costs down and improving the business case for low carbon and high efficiency solutions.

Oh…wait!  That’s what he says…..but what is his Venture Capital fund, Generation Investment, actually doing?

Perfect timing, NH Rep David Campbell – you prove my point

I just put up this post up and it ends like this:

Our single reason why is this: he [Obama]is the single worst threat to TEA Party ideals: Free Markets (he wants Government directed markets), Constitutionally bound and limited Government, and fiscal responsibility in that Government.  These are complete opposite of the current crop of Democrat Socialists.

And that is why they fear us.

That the NH Dems are calling the TEA Party, Free Staters and 9/12ers extreme is simple: we represent and “cling” to the values and the words in the Constitution.  We are their worst nightmare as we are the Gate that stops the country’s march to complete Progressivism.  And then this came floating in:

Apparently [Democrat NH State Representative] David Campbell thinks we are a bunch of nut jobs in the NH house……The conservative “Bat-signal” is requested gentlemen.

While responding to a “Grok-signal” might be more appropriate (heh!),  we stand by our pledge: “… fly to the aid of rock-ribbed freedom loving and liberty seeking / leaning folk anywhere!…”.  So, I went and left these bon mots for Rep Dave – and an offer:

Extreme?  Really The First remark to be made is “Yo, Dave”?  Are you forgetting that in 2010, the voters (er, that would be ALL NH voters) finally had enough of the Democrat agenda and threw the majority of your butts out of the House and most of your butts out of the NH Senate, and completely out of the Executive Council.

So, wanna keep yakking about who was judged to be “extreme”?

Progressives – it’s NOT your money if not being used for the greatest and common good

according to their philosophy.  And so say them directly – Hillary Rosen, Ann Kuster, and Barack Hussein Obama.  If you are not using your money for the common good according to  ReProgressives (presently, one’s money to be “in the economy”), they feel perfectly fine and capable to remove it from you and call it taxation. I remember when Democrat “strategist” Hillary Rosen made this claim back on “Meet The Press” (July 15) on a discussion on jobs and that silly argument that Romney wasn’t paying his taxes:

MS. ROSEN: Well, and that’s the problem. Right now the plan that we’ve seen from Mitt Romney is just mostly significant tax cuts for the wealthy. President Obama actually has put forth multiple plans that the Republican Congress has blocked. So, the only thing we have now is a choice. This conversation may not be what everybody wants, but we do have a choice between these two candidates. And when you look at something like what Mitt Romney has done, hiding his taxes, there’s– you– you know, if every American hid their money and invested it in overseas tax havens, where would this economy be? You know…

Well, Uber-Progressive Regressive Ann McKluster is making the same claim in a debate with Charlie Bass for US Congress in NH CD-2:

“It isn’t about millionaires against everybody else,” Bass said on the tax issue. “It’s about getting this economy turned around again. Raising taxes in the middle of this recession without having any comprehensive plan to turn the economy around is a bad idea.”

“If these resources were being used to create new jobs, then the small business wouldn’t be paying taxes on them,” said Kuster. “That’s a deduction.

“The point is, these people with this kind of income right now are not putting the money back into the economy,” she said. “They’re not hiring new people. Frankly, they’re not even buying new goods.”

You see, you do not own yourself.  You are not entitled to the fruits of your labor – your wages, your salary, your income if you are not using it according to THEIR purposes.

Oh yeah, let’s not forget about “They don’t need it” argument – the foundation for Redistribution

That’s another tenet of Liberalism / Regressivism Progressivism to go along with “You don’t do the right things with it” meme.  They look at the well to-do, the rich, and the uber-rich and think “we can take it because they won’t miss it and they don’t need it”.  Really?  You can take it because YOU feel they don’t need it?  Really, how much closer to a bad rationalization do you have to make keep from letting your better side from realizing “er, isn’t that stealing“?  Just because someone has WAY more than you have means that it is perfectly legitimate for you to just take what they own for your own Progressive purposes?  Not only is this wrong, it is the absolute epitome of the definition of selfishness.  How hollow it must be to publicly be saying “look at what we give to people” all the while working hard (or being very dismissive) to not square the cognitive dissonance that the possible freedom they give to some in a material way is far outweighed by the tyranny laid upon those from who they take on the other side of the equation.

Sure, it is always posed as “We are merely asking that the rich give a little more“.  Absolute nonsense – as the top 10% of income earners pay 70% of all income taxes, how much more should they be paying?  There  is no “asking” (which implies one can say “no” as an acceptable answer) and there is no “giving” (which would be voluntary).  Such sophistry and solipsism: any “asking” is really a legal demand while the “giving” is merely paying a tax bill – or landing in the Old Pokey with nice steel bars around you.  There is no “voluntary” about it.  Oh, to be sure, there will be commenters that will jump all over this with that silly “We all belong to the Goverment as the one thing we do” or we all have to pay taxes.  Oh, to be sure, we do have to pay taxes – but Progressives want Government to overspread and take over Society such there there is only Government, and that takes more and more and more in taxes (in which, Progressives act just like, and are no better with respect to Private Property, Willy Sutton).

Truly, Progressivism is a morally bankrupt philosophy.

The Gay Marriage Report Card

Roughly Sixty days out from national elections means people are beginning to take notice of what the politicians are saying about a whole host of issues fiscal and social. Chief among issues is the hot button of gay marriage.  Presently, if one is conservative and even mentions it, labels of bigotry and homophobia fly left and right.  So why the gay marriage report card? Simply because it is a political issue and like any other political issue, where rivers of cash and political capital flow, the net result of activism should have some standard of measure.

Thirteen states have legislatively accommodated same sex couples, thus, the notion (or suggestion) might follow for some that the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transsexual  (LGBT) community is a sizable constituency and the concepts, attitudes and conventions of Gay Marriage are catching on. But are they really gaining steam? Are more people really accepting Gay marriage on par with traditional marriage? Or are they being bullied into it?

The central thesis of Mr. Eyring’s post was that the NH Water Sustainability Commission gave a low-profile public notice seeking input from the public regarding management of  Granite State water resources over the next 25 year period.

On Sunday July 29, Skip followed up with a response from House Democrat Representative Judith Spang  to Ken Eyring. As shown, Spang made several, “The state owns the water, not you,” implied assertions.”

More on Obama’s ” If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen” – Progessive collective need

I’ve been wanting to put this post up, but it just keeps being one of those that just slips away each evening.  Certainly it is clear that there is a divide, nay, a chasm between those of the Left and those on the Right.  That chasm is for the future direction of the United States.

  • Liberal / Statists / Progressives / Socialists want the country to move forward – to a utopia that holds the Collective as the highest ideal
  • They also want self annointed experts to make the major decisions for everyone else.
  • Conservatives / Constitutionalists / Libertarians wish to move the country forward – but know that to do so, we must first go back to Constitutional values as elucidated by the Founders.
  • We want you to be able to make your own decisions.

Obama famously said that “we are five days from fundamentally transforming the United States”.  His vision is clear:  unlike all of US History, he wishes to completely subsume all of Society under the thumb of Government.  Why is this a fundamental transformation?  Remember your history – the Declaration and the Constitution were all about protecting Individual Rights against an encroaching Government.  Society was to have a Government that served it and not the other way  around.

NH Rep Judith Spang replies to Ken Eyring – defends the taking of water rights from property owners. Ken rebuts

Earlier this week, I had put up a Letter by Ken Eyring concerning Gov. Lynch’s Water Sustainability Commission that without any authorizing legislation or statute, is in the process of taking away your water rights.  I wrote the following preamble to that Letter:

Did you know that there is an executive commission that was set by Gov. Lynch to talk about water?  No big deal you say – yes it is.  Many homes in NH, if not most, depend on the water on their land for wells – or to be more technically correct, under your land.  Common law has been that what resides under your land belongs to you.  Period.  How do you think all those “shale millionaires” are now rich?  Wildcatters and energy companies are paying big bucks to explore and to frack the natural gas that lays under their land – and because they own it.

This “Lynch’s Last Gift” (“LLG”) wishes to administratively change this.  No House debate.  No Senate debate.  Just poorly noticed “listening session” (mostly during the day when ordinary people are working – but certainly attended by those that have NO problem in determining that your water belongs to them, er, all of us – the Collective.  THEY may not own the water, but they, sure as shootin’, are going to be the ones that will make the rules on how you can (or cannot) use that water.

That is under your property.  That you paid for when you bought your property (know it or not).

Well, Ken got a return letter back from the Commission: NH Representative Judith Spang (Democrat from Durham in Strafford District 7, NH Rep since 1998) and presents the basic argument of “it’s for the common good” (another one of the basic Liberal philosophies, like “You don’t need that” and “But it’s good for you”):

Where’s the Freedom in all this “perfectible union”?

Obama:

“And I confess the progress didn’t come quickly, and it did not come easily,” President Obama said about his time as a community organizer in Chicago. “Sometimes it didn’t come at all. There were times where I thought about giving up and moving on. But what kept me going day in and day out was the same thing that has sustained the Urban League all these years. The same thing that sustains all of you. And that is the belief that in America, change is always possible. That our union may not be perfect, but it is perfectible.”

“That we can strive over time, through effort and sweat and blood and tears until it is the place we imagine. It may come in fits and starts, at a pace that can be slow and frustrating, but if we are willing to push through all the doubt and the cynicism and the weariness, then yes, we can form that more perfect union,” Obama said.

A more perfect union.  The problem is that this lies at the heart of Progressivism – they keep believing that THEY have the ability, that THEY should have the power, to form that more perfect union. A more perfect union – and what would that be?  In a nutshell, it is a collective utopia – that everyone shares the same values, that all share goals, and that all share an equality of outcomes.

In essence, it is the antithesis of  why and how our Founders wanted or designed for our Republic.  Equality for them was for equality before the law and opportunity; Progressives want equality in all areas along with a libertine culture.  Yes, circumstances can prevent the Founders vision from happening but a Law is a law – judges and juries should be slicing a case according to meeting or violating that law.  Unfortunately, it has becomes a “win at any cost” – it seemingly has lost sight of “the truth and nothing but the truth”.  Still, the State was to be a neutral observer in all this and its primary role was to protect our individual freedoms, liberties, and Rights.  Sadly, we seemingly have lost sight of this as Progressives have morphed government from being an umpire to that of being one that determines what behaviors are correct and which are wrong.

So WHY is our Second District Congressman, Charlie Bass, not signed up to defund Obamacare?

Bass No Sign Defund ObamacareCharlie Bass promised to vote against Obamacare – did.  That should have signaled the intention to kill it anyway possible or needed – so why didn’t he sign the Letter?  Would he actually vote to defund Obamacare?

241 US Congressmen are Republicans.  127 of them have signed a Letter saying it was time to use THE power of the US House of Representatives – the Power of the Purse.  They have voted to repeal Obamacare multiple times (33, by some counts) but given the Democrat leadership in the Senate, it died.  And no one would ever think that a sober Obama would kill off his legacy namesake for the ages and sign a bill that would do exactly that.  Thus, defund it.  And then have the stones to stick with it.  And that scenario would come up with the bills to run the Government – the Doomsday setup. The House vs the Senate, I think, in this case.  Here’s the Letter:

Dear Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor,

We are outraged by the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to rewrite and largely uphold the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”), as we know you are as well. And we know that our sentiments are in line with the vast majority of Americans who believe that healthcare should be controlled by patients and doctors, not by the government.

We appreciate your willingness to schedule a vote on the full repeal of ObamaCare. We should continue efforts to repeal the law in its entirety this year, next year, and until we are successful. However, in the meantime, there is more we can do in Congress.

MSNBC‘s Michael O’Brien asserts, “Most Americans say Mitt Romney should release more of his tax returns,” citing a USA Today/Gallup Poll. So how many Americans is “most Americans?” According to the poll, 54%. Certainly, that is 4% more than half. But curiously, the margin of error citing in the poll is +/-5 percentage points, based on a national survey of 539 adults. Also in this poll, Forty-seven percent call the issue of releasing tax returns in general, “largely irrelevant...”

NH Republicans v. NH Democrats – ‘Simplified.’

How to pick pockets- A guide to Governing as a NH DemocratA lot of people avoid politics because it seems so complex.  And there are plenty of people who make it that way on purpose to keep those very same people from getting involved.  If you are not involved you are more likely to buy into the nonsense or not pay much attention.   But I’m here today to make it as simple as I can.  It’s Friday.  Things should be simple on Friday.

So here we go.

New Hampshire Democrats want to raise your taxes.  (Just look at 2007-2010 if you doubt me.)  They are convinced that the government needs the money more than you do and with Democrats the government always comes first.  So the first thing they do is spend it, then find ways to tax it out of you.

Most New Hampshire Republicans would disagree.  While there are some things government could do, can do, and maybe even should do, none of them take priority over you and your family, or your job or your business.   And that is on the good days.  In this economy we really don’t need to add to the cost of unnecessary government which is why the Republicans cut spending and the deficit, and cut unnecessary taxes and still balanced the budget, rather than taking money from you to do it.   They wanted you to keep more of your own money, especially in these trying fiscal times.

A Fourth of July message to my fellow Groksters – and to our readers. And especially to those that just might be stopping by.

“I also wanted to mention the strange feeling that I awoke with today….and I share your sense of – not unease necessarily, but maybe  – resolve..?“

Words from my fellow Groksters that stirred me to write a message back:

My fellow Groksters,

There was a reason why each and everyone of you was chosen and asked to write for GraniteGrok.  I also believe that there was a reason why each and everyone of you said yes – you all realized that we ARE in a Cold Civil War, that “the strange feeling that I awoke with today” one that is “instinctive” and “palpable” are real.  I started this blogging schtick with Doug back in 2005 when it was just a novel way to get our rather opinionated opinions out there.  Now, I see that there was a Higher Purpose that yanked us into this place, and what we do now as the ‘Grok is probably far more important than what I ever thought.  Liberty and Freedom.

This July Fourth, we realize we are at a tipping point – a very important one.  We are in a fight for our Country’s future; the line has been drawn, and we either are those that just drift along or we respond that that “instinctive” and internal sense that something is awry.  If not us, then who?  Who will run to the ramparts to defend our Shining City on a Hill?  Who will stir themselves from the easy life and the easy way?  Who will say “I will put away the couch, the tv, the toys, and my family” and look deeper into their core to say “There is more; I am a descendent of our Minutemen – if not by blood but by that same love of country and Ideals”.  I will stand, not for the Old World based failed reasons that motivated my ancestors to leave the Old Country, but for the Rights given to me by my Creator.  I am that new Minuteman that refuses to give in to the Progressives that not only defend the Statism of that Old World but wish to entrench it here.  Millions have died to defend the philosophy expressed in the Declaration of Independence – yet, Progressives are fighting to redefine those words and ideas, turn them upside down, and say that they are the Patriots and we are the extremists.   They are the Fifth Column, the Trojan Horse, spreading rot within all of our institutions and Society.

But all of you Groksters and others that join with us in spirit (TEA Party, 9-12, constitutionally aware), are now are saying “You have gone far enough – and we will stop you”.  Some of you have already done your part; you took the oath, did the training, did the hard work, and literally fought for us.  We who stayed home did other things, vaguely aware that you were on the parapets standing guard and keeping us safe.  Yet, even with your tours long over, have come back to the fight once more.  Not with a gun (though you have such at the ready, with the spirit to lift it) but with keyboards, voices, and heart.  We who did not wear the uniform now join you in this different fight, side by side with you, ready to now do our part.
