Children and poor families hit hardest
So which Republicans’ voted against private scholarships for poor kids in New Hampshire?
Ann Marie Banfield provided a list, with contact info, and reminds us (On Facebook), a vote against will actually cost taxpayers more. (I talked about it here yesterday.)
The HB370 (repeal) passed 188 to 155 and now moves to the Senate where it had better fail- that’s a hint.)

In reporting on New Hampshire House Bill HB 514 –An Act relating to giving legislators a free ride–WMUR reports that it a) came out of committee with instructions to kill it (this is good) but b) that supporters of the bill claim that Members skiing for free at Canon Mountain–the Bill’s real purpose–doesn’t add costs to the Ski areas.
Supporters argue that lawmakers have open access to state parks which promotes awareness of the locations.
They say skiing at Cannon doesn’t add costs to the ski area and encourages members to experience that part of New Hampshire culture.

New Hampshire Democrats ran on respect and civility. And we knew it for the fraud it was but people still fell for it.
Part and parcel to the fraud was Speaker Norelli claiming to shake up the seating arrangements in the House to help build respect and civility, bi-partisanship, working together…I figured it was so the Democrat majority could intimidate the minority members. Another rep I spoke with suggested that this seating plan would make it easier for the Speaker to call close voice votes however she felt like calling them.
I can’t speak to the latter but the harassment by Democrats has already begun.
Today’s Respect and Civility Award goes to David P. Miller D- Rochester.
Here are two pull quotes from the New Hampshire Union Leader that I wanted to share. One is about trust, the other about safety. I think you’ll find them…interesting.
In an article on 2013 LSR H-0451 regarding a proposed change to the right to know law, New Hampshire House Democrat Majority Leader Steve Shurtleff, D-Penacook, said of local elected officials having more opportunities for private executive sessions meeting out of public view…
“At some point, you have to trust these officials not to abuse it,.”
Now that is funny, right there, I don’t care who you are.

Settled Law. Once again, we see that “settled law” is only for Statist legislature results and not Republican laws.
Yep, that was the mantra of the Democrats who rightly feared that the Republican majority would reverse the law. We read “Move on!”, “you campaigned on economic not social issues”, “why do you want to hurt people”, and of course, the ever present “Homophobes” (which I have always chuckled over – I have no “fear” of homosexuals as the definition of the word states, but hey, when you merely disagree with the political aims and policies of one of the Democrat protected identity victim groups, be ready for the “you hate babies and puppy dog” attacks).
Anyways, the new NH Reps have been sworn in, leaders chosen, LSR (re: bills to be considered once fleshed out), and now, the operational rules of the NH House (“how DO we do the things that we do?”) are to be hashed out. Or, in this 3rd iteration of Really Big Partisan Majority session, what is going to get rammed down somebody’s throat? It seems that “settled law” is only good for their side of the ledger – everything else is fair game. Which is, pretty much, going to look like anything that was done in the last session that allowed more power and authority to Individuals; you watch, the Democrats will re-start the Progressive philosophy of re-accruing that power back to Concord and back to the bureaucracies.
Oh wait! It’s “settled law” (ok, go with me here, “settled rules”).
Item Number One: Committee of Redress of Grievances
Last session, the Constitutional value of individuals seeking justice from the NH House (their legislators) was reconstituted. Certainly the cases that reached them seemed to be messy but the intent was achieved – individuals had the ability, when all other avenues of help were closed off, to seek assistance in one last court, the General Court of NH.
Well, it seems that it is the intent of the Democrats to get rid of both the Committee on Constitutional Review and Statutory and the Recodification and the Committee on Redress of Grievances. It also seems that the rules governing the redress of grievances will have no final court of appeal either, the Dems are about to eliminate this Individual ability to right wrongs. New Hampshire Democrats are ready to get serious about legislating matters that are important to New Hampshire’s future…so hey, how about we try to pass a perfume ban? (For state employees).
The important point to remember here isn’t that a perfume ban was brought up in the last legislature and failed, and it is not that there is a need to discuss whether or not “how state employees covering their BO” might create an unpleasant environment–into which some citizens may be inconvenienced, it is how quickly can we use the power of the state to regulate it regardless of whether or not it would even work.

And yes, once again, I decide to weigh in. His opening remark – well, I can’t quote it from FB because he decided to take himself out of the thread and erased all traces of himself, but it started with someone asking the simple question of “Who for Republican Minority Leader in the NH House?”. Fortunately, I keep all my emails which now provides a nice little trail of breadcrumbs from the NH GOP Secretary on “Party Unity” and other sundry bon mots:

The New Hampshire Democrat House Majority has chosen their previous Democrat House Sepaker Terie ‘Billion Dollar Deficit‘ Norelli as their new Speaker for the 2013-2014 session. This is good for lots of reasons. Deficits, spending, taxes, accounting gimmicks, bathroom remodels, bathroom bills, and a dedication to back-benching and marginalizing anyone who does not pull the lever for her far-left agenda.
As a blogger, I couldn’t be happier. Nothing makes my hobby easier than the likes of Terie Norelli. I look forward to watching her repeat the same mistakes again.
Of course this time around she doesn’t have a completely compliant Democrat majority Senate to help cover her tracks. She has a slim and squishy potentialy compliant Republican majority in the Senate, with whom she may have to barter a bit. How much barter, as well as what the GOP willingly gives up, remains to be seen.

I wasn’t going to expend any effort on these two, Democrats, more moderate on their face than most I am told by some, but Democrats none the less. But today (Sunday), they dropped off a page of printed nonsense at my home which requires some attention.
There are four bullet points on their missive to which they claim to object. Downshifting costs to local government, the cost of college education (the reduction of State University funding), Gridlock (Washington and Concord), not listening to constituents instead of talking to them.
The Grady’s are making the case (without ever mentioning that they are Democrats) that they deserve your votes so they may right these so-called wrongs. But by refusing to admit to their own pedigree or its history they–intentionally or not–participate in a deception that does the people of Merrimack a great disservice.
This makes an excellent followup to what Skip just wrote about the DLCC endorsing a local New Hampshire Democrat.
Speaking about New Hampshire legislators that same Democrat candidate, Aaron Gill (Hillsborough 39) writes
We expect their personal conduct to reflect the character of New Hampshire citizens, that the work of the people will be conducted openly, fairly, and consistently, and that our neighbors in Concord will make independent decisions.
Most importantly, we expect members of the House to represent us free from the constraints of pledges, free from rigid ideology, and free from the goals of out-of-state interests.

What does it say (out of the gate) about the conduct and character of a candidate who is only collecting donations to his campaign through a third party aggregater, based outside New Hampshire?
Ever since this uber-Progressive from Meredith, NH got the boot from the NH House two years ago, I have had to put up with her screeds in the local papers about how NH Republicans have abandoned NH Values, how everything that has been done the last two years, how they hate the poor, hate seniors, hate the disadvantaged, have cut the budget to where it hurts the disadvantaged, they hate education, and….well, you get the idea. TEA Party, Free Staters….extremists all and none of them care about anyone else but themselves (those selfish bastards!). Words that have warmed the cockles of NHDP Chair Buckles, I would presume.
Frankly, she’s come across as an angry, sore loser that hates the limitations of the NH Constitution as well as the US Constitution. Your money is her money, and her interests in redistributing your formerly private property (the result of your labor) trumps your needs to provide for your family. She’s all about pushing that 47% to nose bleed levels. It has been a constant litany from this Progressive harpie on jobs – you know, the kind that the Dems weren’t interested: YOU Republicans promised us jobs! What are you doing that social stuff – that’s not JOB related!! Why are you cutting that tax – that’s not JOB related!! Where’s the jobs, jobs, jobs!
Never mind that the Dems didn’t campaign on social issues, but they sure legislated on ’em. Jobs became an afterthought. But one would think that with so much emphasis on her delusional daydream that Dems would do FAR better on creating jobs, she’d, you know, actually put her words to effect and helping a NH company with a NH job?
Oh Wait – what’s in that lower right hand corner of her sign?
Time is short, and I do wish that I had started this process earlier and that “life” hadn’t interfered so often lately. However, we’ve been told “hey thanks for letting us know who is worth our votes” so it is well worth the time to do this. It is also important that those we endorse and would represent us (if they succeed in running) know that we’ll be watching them. “Would represent us” – as opposed to those that would want to rule us (even if, from their view point) even from the best of intentions. Remember, it was Democrat NH House Representative Kris Roberts of Keene that truly expressed how Liberal ReProgressives view citizens of our fair State:
“Government has to protect us from our own stupidity.”
And we saw that again this week down at the DNC Convention in Charlotte – video to be posted later. The folks that we list here ARE worth your votes – and we ask for your votes for each and everyone of them!

There are MANY more that we have not mentioned yet – if they are a self-described TEA Party, 9/12 Project member, or Liberty&Freedom in outlook, they are probably fine with us. We may well be adding to this as well as go “Oh dear, we DID forget about this person and that person”
We now switch our attention to the NH House and our first endorsement is for Susan Olsen. We met via Smart Girl Politics / NH – she started to link up and comment on posts from GraniteGrok. Since then, we have come to know this smart, determined lady and utterly dedicated to the premise that the best government is one that knows it bounds, respects the citizens that it should serve (vs the other way around), and will make sure that it will do those few tasks it should in a spectacular way. Problem often is, Government agencies seem to have a far different view of that.
I pity them.
As I have said before, this is not the shy retiring type that most would mistakenly take her for – make no doubt, this is one lady whose calm, low voice and drive eviscerates those that believe they can have the best of her. We can stand easy knowing that this lady will be leading the rough politics needed to skewer the continued collectivistic attitudes of Progressives, Democrats, and RINOs of those that place their trust in Government instead of Individuals.

I have known Sue for a few years now as a TEA Party / Rochester 9-12 Project member – and an utterly devoted person to her Bible, the US and NH Constitutions, and her guns (and her hubby, Jerry). I guess that the Obama Administration and the NH Democrat Party would call her a bitter, clinger, extremist. Me? A Patriot!
A first time NH House Legislator this session (R-Rochester, Strafford 1), the ‘Grok caught up with her at last night’s Rochester City Council meeting (concerning Public Input on The Granite State Future Plan that is supporting the Obama Administration’s Sustainable Communities Initiative (spearheaded by the money carrots to change local zoning ordinance to suit the EPA, DOT, and EPA; listen to Grokster Tom as he speaks here).
I asked some questions of her – listen up!
She also testified in front of the Rochester City Council on both the Granite State Future Plan as well as the decision by the Rochester City Council to spend $9,400 to help underwrite the 2012 Presidential Campaign of Obama (after the jump):
“Last but not least, MY favorite House candidate, Kevin Leandro from Gilford” – Barbara Aichinger. Mine too!
I served with him this last year on the Gilford Budget Committe – he was ALWAYS thinking of the taxpayers! No, not in “where’s their wallets” but in protecting taxpayer’s private property (their money) from those that had no problem in spending it all in the name of “It’s for the common good” or “It’s for the Quality of Life”. He showed me an absolute bulldog sense of taking on anyone that he perceived as being in the wrong or spending for the wrong reasons. No, he didn’t always win all of the battles, but like the Prior Marine he is, it was always find the target and move forward!
I can guarantee that he will make his presence known on the floor of the Hall of Representatives – as opposed to the other Gilford candidate (registered Independent and almost always seemingly put his finger to the wind to see which way the political winds were blowing).
