Yet another small business owner, he too is not happy how the State of NH has drifted from being a biz friendly place – his business is down because a lot of his customers are not in business. Having heard from Kevin Smith and Josh Youseff, it was time to listen to the Conservatives running for the NH House from Belknap 5 – the Towns of Meredith and Gilford (given that Barbara Aichinger, who had opened her home for this event, lives in Gilford). First up is Colette Worsman, running for her second term in the NH House. A past selectman in Meredith, she has been a tireless worker for conservative values and fiscally frugal budgets. A small biz co-owner, she knows full well the heartache of a meddling govt that believes it is making it easier but only makes it harder for these owners to be able to serve their customers.

Two issues that have been at the forefront of the present Legislative session were pension reform (where NH has among the highest per capita public pension costs in the nation going forward) and perhaps unsustainable, and whether or not having the State of New Hampshire would participate in Obamacare via setting up a health insurance exchange and that huge cost upon NH citizens vs the resurgence of States’ sovereign Rights.

Thus, time to ramp it up again and finish up.

Continuing on with our questions for with Jane Cormier (running for the NH House in Belknap 8 – Alton, Barnstead, and Gilmanton), we wanted to know which should be the driving force in the land: Government or Society? Are they two different entities? If not, should they be looked upon as such? Jane did answer the question but we split the answer into the Federal level and then at the State level:

Labels, while not always completely describing who what is in politics, can generally give others a good idea of where one stands on the issues. For instance, Democrats generally spend more and are more liberal than Republicans, who trend to greater fiscal frugality and more conservative social issues. However, there are exceptions to the rules (like Zell Miller, who was a Blue Dog Democrat for years, being more fiscally tighter than most of his Democrat contemporaries)
On the other side of the aisle, there are also Progressive / Big Government Republicans that vote more in line with Democrat philosophies and, in the case of some, use the “R” next to their name as a cover. A GREAT example of this is current NH State Rep Peter Bolster who calls himself a Republican but his voting record screams “I AM REALLY A DEMOCRAT!!” and has admitted to such to some. (think I’m wrong? Do a search just on GraniteGrok and review the times he shown up voting AGAINST the Republican Platform!)
Fortunately, Jane Cormier is running against this “RINO to the max” in the primary in Belknap District 8 (Alton, Barnstead, Gilmanton).

Grok Special Interview: Jane Cormier,Candidate for NH House-Question 1 – Why are you running? 2-Why is “where’re we going” dangerous?
A little while ago, we were directed to a video that was taken when the “Values Bus” rolled into NH (sponsored by the Heritage Foundation and the Family Research Council). While I recognized Karen Testerman and Phyllis Woods in the video, the person that was behind the podium at the time was someone that I had never seen before. As I listened to her, I realized a couple of things:
- This person speaks well
- This person knows her mind and what she believes
- She’s a first time candidate – this could be a good thing!
- My gosh – she’s a female version of Jack Kimball!
Why that comparison? Forceful, a take no prisoner style of speaking, and you’d be hard pressed to not understand what she is for. So, we got in contact with her and did an interview with her.
- Question 1: From the Values Bus talk, you seemed well at ease behind the podium and in front of the camera; where does that come from and how will that translate in answering the question of “Why are you running”?
- Question 2: “A Change of Course”: Where did we start from and where are we heading to, and why is where we are going, dangerous?

Running in Rockingham 17 – A Democrat Socialist From Tennessee?
William Hudson Connery III is running for the New Hampshire House. He is a Democrat. He is running in Rockinham 17. And with the registration deadline just past, he’s already got problems.
Let’s start with that picture of the anti-religious bumper sticker he had posted on facebook that he abruptly took down…just after he signed up to run for the New Hampshire House I’d guess. The one that says, “I’ve got Nothing Against God, It’s his fan club I can’t stand.” He is certainly welcome to his opinion but not being able to stand most of the population seems like a strange condition for someone seeking public office. If he “can’t stand” 8 out of 10 constituents who exactly is he hoping to represent?
He’s also rather partial to another bumper sticker (if you read the updates next to the picture) that says “I’m sorry I missed Church I was too busy practicing witchcraft and being a lesbian.”
Well where’s the left wing outrage about that?
Marilinda Garcia – In Support of a Veto Override on HB 1679
After the Union Leader tricked me yesterday (corrected here), I felt compelled to share the actual remarks from Republican House Rep Marilinda Garcia, in her support to overturn the Veto on HB 1679, the ban on Partial Birth Abortion in New Hampshire.
As I should have known all along, she and I are in complete agreement about the need for this bill. Her remarks clearly outline and define why we need to pass State level protections of this nature.
She was kind enough to share those remarks with me. Now I shall share them with you.
