The U.S. Census released its most recent data on Poverty in America last week and surprise, surprise, surprise! The far-left land of Nancy Pelosi, Jerry Brown, Dianne Feinstein, Tech Giants, and Hollywood Gazillionaires continues to have the highest rate of poverty in the nation.
A place where homelessness has skyrocketed alongside the massive burden of the welfare state.
While Creepy touchy Uncle Joe Biden considers a run at a job where you might get to nominate Supreme Court Justices (maybe he’ll send a letter asking Dianne Feinstein to be his VP) GraniteGrok has been steadily climbing the internet digital-print-media ladder in New Hampshire.
Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) says it put 25 door-knockers on the Ground for the primary, knocking on 75,000 doors, in support of candidates running for the New Hampshire House.
“Every Operation Win at the Door race that YAL mobilizes door-knockers for is an opportunity to send principled, liberty-minded individuals to state legislatures across the country,” the press release stated. “Every candidate we endorse and deploy for is slated to become a champion for our ideals in every chamber they enter. We are building the future bench of liberty candidates for federal office.”
So, who did YAL support?
New Hampshire has been represented for some time in Congress by several hard-left leaning Democrats. That can change with the upcoming election in District 1 and District 2. It is an historic chance to put an end to having two Nancy Pelosi hand puppets reciting CNN talking points when they should be engaged in serious business on behalf of the State of New Hampshire.
Tone deafness isn’t intentionally written into the New Hampshire Democrat Party Platform, but hypocrisy is. So, it makes sense that the same so-called “party of women” thought it would be a great idea to re-name their Jefferson-Jackson dinner (Men who had slaves!) the Kennedy-Clinton Dinner (Men who had sex slaves.)
This year the Democrats identity-crisis dinner is named after Eleanor Roosevelt (I guess Weiner Weinstein was out of the question?) but then invited Alec Baldwin as their keynote speaker.
A reader took issue with a recent post featuring a CATO report that ranked New Hampshire number 2 for Personal and Economic Freedom.
Maybe the Cato should ask these people for some help with their numbers www.statedatalab.org. I am a NH resident. NH has high property taxes along with high vehicle registration and electricity all of these are quality of life bills.
New Hampshire’s largest newspaper, the New Hampshire Union Leader, has endorsed Rep. Steve Negron in the Congressional District 2 Republican Primary.
The first-term representative from Nashua is relentlessly cheery, his friendliness and optimism a welcome antidote to the anger and frustration permeating modern politics. Negron is bringing a positive, confident conservative message to the race for Congress in New Hampshire’s Second District. The theme of his campaign is “Restore American Confidence,” and he has earned our endorsement.
The 603 Alliance released the results of an online straw poll yesterday and overall New Hampshire’s Establishment Republicans took a beating.
Before I examine the results individually, please understand that the voting was done via email using a unique password access for each email address in the distribution list. The participants are individuals who signed up to receive email alerts and information from the 603 Alliance before the release of the poll. There was no public announcement that we planned a straw poll, so no individual knew in advance.
The sort of folks who rant about the coming right-wing theocracy break ideological bread with the fundamentalist-environmental movement which gets us right to the point. The Portsmouth City Council is aflutter over a “climate conference” at which, to their surprise, Bjorn Lomborg would be a participant.
Lomborg believes in Global warming, the man-made sort, but not enough. He’s something of a heretic to the faith depending on whom on the Portsmouth City Council you ask.
For only the sixth time since 2000 CATO has ranked New Hampshire as the second Most Free State in the US. We were number one all the other times. Unfortunately, this is the third year in a row at number two, and while CATO examines that there is still plenty of good news (not that being #2 isn’t good news).
We have some work to do to get back to number one. But before we get to that let’s talk about this
A north country writer made the case today, in the Union Leader, that the opening of a new Casino in Springfield, Massachusetts is proof that the casino market is not oversaturated in New England.
I spoke with someone who has lived most of their life around Springfield with deep ties to the community. The local buzz down there is that even the casino operators think New England is probably oversaturated.
It has been my honor to serve as State Representative of the beautiful town of Merrimack for the last four years. During that time I served on the house education committee. I fought for the rights of parents in education, choice for all children, and for the teaching of civics to be a priority in our schools. I fought for core values outside of education such as marriage, the sanctity of life, and the protection of our second amendment rights.
I entered office seeking unity with my party. However, I quickly realized that finding common ground on our most basic platform principles, like fiscal responsibility, was difficult. This past session, with a majority in both houses and a Republican governor, we still lost the fight on right-to-work, Medicaid expansion, and other fiscal and social issues.
I began to examine the fact that we, the conservative Republicans, kept losing essential votes, and where the problems within our government originated.
If I may take a moment of your time for a quick update. In the past month, GraniteGrok’s Alexa numbers have improved. Our National numbers are better, and our global numbers took a healthy leap in the right direction. But we did not advance in our list of statewide internet media portals.
Of the fourteen sites we are tracking only one moved, and it was in backward.
New Hampshire has some obscene licensing rules that increase costs and prohibit or at least limit competition. Everyone agrees, except the cartel owners, and we’ve seen minor improvements in recent years. But we could do a lot better. So, I’m wondering if there’s leverage to be found in recent rulings against taxi cartels that deny them their monopoly.
In a resounding win for innovation and economic liberty, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled on Monday that taxi owners in Miami-Dade County have “no right to block competition” from ride-hailing firms like Lyft and Uber.
Henry Nicholas III dumped a small fortune into the pockets of lawyers and lobbyists in New Hampshire to hoist his proposed constitutional amendment (CACR22) on the Granite State. Commonly known as Marsy’s Law, it rolled into the state with bipartisan backing and a governor eager to sign it. At least until the activist community peeled back the onion to reveal the rot inside.
A bi-partisan reversal of fortune killed CACR22 by a vote of 284-51. Advocates promised it will be back but will their sugar-daddy be writing checks from prison? Henry Nicholas III was arrested in Las Vegas yesterday in possession of copious amounts of drugs and on suspicion of trafficking.
I had the opportunity to capture some video at a House Party for Eddie Edwards. He is running for Congress in NH congressional district one.

New Hampshire, at 94%, is the third ‘whitest’ state demographically in the country. We’re one percent more diverse, according to the people who define such things, than Maine and the People’s Republic of Vermont. The Granite State’s ‘experts’ are gathering to confer on how to fix that. Why?

You deserve an explanation of what happened in the legislature this week. What has been in the papers is a lot of political posturing. Let me help you filter the noise from the message.
The Governor requested and the Executive Council authorized a special session of the NH legislature in order respond to the Supreme Court decision in the South Dakota vs. Wayfair case. At issue was the Supreme Court’s change of the physical presence test it had imposed in the Quill decision with respect to the commerce clause. The court in Wayfair removed the physical presence requirement of a business established in Quill in order for a state to require collection of “remote tax”. In its place, it left an “economic nexus” standard. Nobody yet understands what exactly that means. The test was changed and the case was remanded to South Dakota where it has not yet been taken up.
The governor made the special session request of the executive council June 28th and the council by a 4-1 split vote authorized a special session. In the interim, a joint House-Senate task force made up of 7 Senators and 10 House members convened to put together language which has been improperly represented as a bill. The joint task force work could not be enrolled as a bill because the legislature was not in session and no rules were in place for dealing with the measure.

This is great news because seeing increased traffic in the heat of summer is an excellent indicator of what we can expect come fall and winter.
If you are one of those 45 states that are not New Hampshire that may ask a business based here (with no presence there) to collect your sales taxes for you prepare to pay the price. Literally.
For starters, any taxing jurisdiction, before they can approach a New Hampshire business and say, “I think you have sold something to one our residents, pay up,” that taxing jurisdiction will first have to register with the New Hampshire Attorney General and pay a fee.
