Quick Thought – and they STILL want more money from the State??

How about when you pay attention to your own details, first (emphasis mine, reformatted)? Are the Clinton’s Screwed?

With 6,000 pages of evidence from a whistleblower and the testimony of players inside the organization “the vast right-wing conspiracy” has nothing on the IRS and the FBI when it comes to the Clinton Foundation. That evidence was assembled by a private firm called MDA Analytics LLC, run by accomplished ex-federal criminal investigators, who alleged the … Read more

Before You Raise My Taxes, Do You Take any Deductions?

One of the highest forms of participation in society for the left is the obligation to pay taxes. It’s patriotic, it’s civic-minded, it’s all kinds of things, but most importantly it is a moral obligation.

And the left always wants everyone to give more because frankly there is no ceiling on how big their government can get or home mush it needs. So, you’ll hear all sorts of explanations for why we need more taxes or higher taxes. But before you let them off the hook ask that Democrat a few questions.

Free Speech Win! IRS Will No Longer Require Certain Donor Lists Up Front

IRS-BuildingSwamp Rats inside the IRS can’t leak what they don’t have. And thanks to a new rule the IRS will no longer be collecting personal donor data upfront from organizations that include (for our triggered progressive “friends”) unions and Planned Parenthood.

The Treasury Department said the policy change will maintain donor disclosure requirements for traditional charity groups organized under section 501(c)(3) of tax law. But it frees labor unions, advocacy groups, veterans organizations and other nonprofits such as Planned Parenthood that do not receive tax-exempt money from complying with the decades-old confidential disclosure requirements.

Blogline of the Day – When the job is a critical one

“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.” – President Obama, Inauguration (2009) YOU HAD ONE JOB: IRS payment site crashes hours before Tax … Read more

The IRS Can’t Find The Receipts…

You really can’t make this stuff up. IRS spends 50 million of your dollars and mine…on a boondoggle that wasn’t even supposed to happen after the whole GSA debacle, and they can’t find the receipts. Too busy targeting political opponents? Wait! I bet they blame the sequester.

A voice suffering from Government Tyranny – simply for being TEA Party – Part 1

Am on vacation this week – a “staycation” in doing errands as well as finally starting to approach the long list of “honey-do’s” (as well as long list of tasks of my own).  Both have long laid fallow resulting in, well, “the house suffering from benign neglect from blogging”.  A week won’t cut it down substantially, but the habit will be formed (er, I hope, under  (long suffering) TMEW’s stern visage).

As I was go thither and fro, TMEW had the news on TV on and I caught a bit of the testimony from some of the TEA Party leaders who had been targeted by the IRS simply for having “TEA Party” in their names.  I have transcribed one so far and am doing one more now – of the six people who testified to Congress, I think these are representative of all of the people who felt their country slipping away these last few years and deliberately being transformed from its original ideals at the time of our Founding and simply felt it was time to educate their fellow citizens and roust them from their political slumber.  One such lady is Becky Gerritson of the Watumbka (AL) TEA Party:

If you do not have the 7 minutes to watch, at least glance through the transcription (I got “most of it”) to see what was important – the fear that our Government that was meant to be public servants to Citizens is now turning that table to that of a Public Master to a public servitude.

Another case of Government “Fine for me but not for thee” – IRS edition

I really can’t add much more than the title – from Washington Free Beacon (emphasis mine): The IRS spent over 4 million taxpayer dollars on a conference in 2010, CNN reported Tuesday evening. The actual amount wasted is unknown because the IRS was not required to keep its receipts, something that they require taxpayers to … Read more

Notable Quote and then some….

"Paid liar"....
“Paid liar”…..

In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions.” — James Madison, Federalist #51.Via Ace – read the whole thing:

The IRS scandal as an example of runaway organizational culture

Organizations large and small develop unique cultures over time. You see this in companies like IBM, Apple, and GM. Employees who stay in these companies over the long term, those who move up the ladder into the executive suite, tend to personify these corporate cultures to a great degree. Employees marry each other, socialize with each other, attend the same events. In company towns, this corporate culture can characterize the entirety of the town itself.

Which is why the current IRS scandal has left me completely unsurprised.

O on Terrorism, Striking Foreign and Domestic Intersections

Yesterday, the pusillanimous powder puff currently lounging in the Oval Office gave a speech on the “war on terror”. Below are some of the lines that struck me as interesting given the current maelstrom of power abuse scandals spinning around the great eared one.

Oblow-hardia:

“We will never erase the evil that lies in the hearts of some human beings, nor stamp out every danger to our open society. What we can do – what we must do – is dismantle networks that pose a direct danger, and make it less likely for new groups to gain a foothold, all while maintaining the freedoms and ideals that we defend.”

Naturally, the “networks that pose a direct danger” is in the eye of the beHolder. Given the recent lens that many more now peer through to clearly make out this administration’s penchant for abusing power and disrupting networks of American citizens it’s hard not to know what else he’s referring to.

IRS Scandal: TEA Party, Constitutionalists, 9/12ers, Romney donors – but they added this group to the audit list?

Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen a litany of the groups that have been targeted by the IRS simply because they are opposed to:

  • Obama’s policies and Presidency
  • a large governmental bureaucracy that continues to insert itself into more and more simply by dint of regulation (in addition to “enabling” legislation)

The entrenched bureaucracy, with a heavy list to Left / Democrat ideology, has proven Conservatives right.  They have now admitted to it, kinda non-apologized apologized for it, and now realize, with the taking of the Fifth Amendment today, with criminal intent (possibly).  But at least there was a reason – these Government workers believed that they were defending the ramparts of their castle against the barbarians that just can’t get it through their Neaderthalic heads that we all NEED Government – the more the better for all.  And make no mistake, this is a on-going, almost hot, war going between we who believe that least government is best government so as to allow for the greatest amount of personal Liberty and those that believe Government knows best for us all in how to order Society efficiently for safety and security.

They decided to “harass” those that differed from them politically – to support Obama and to support themselves.  Their version of political war (with all due respect to von Clausewitz).  But to pick on those who merely wish to adopt little babies and children; these are considered to “political battlefield combatants by Progressives?

As we get word that the IRS has harassed a number of pro-life groups, including at least one alleged demand that a pro-life group not picket Planned Parenthood, check out this statistic: In 2012, the IRS requested additional information from 90 percent of returns claiming the adoption tax credit and went on to actually audit 69 percent. More details from the Taxpayer Advocate Service:
