Speaking of going to “the next level”, the next tranche of gear has arrived

And it solves three problems for us

We have anti-noise headsets – really light on good microphones
We keep getting asked to bring a PA system with us – didn’t have one
You’ve seen me schlepping bags, and boxes, and more bags, and cases to events.

And it took upwards of an hour for set up and then again to take it all apart. Add to that time constraints – not being able to get in early enough and then being chased out because the venue rental time was too short. Both of which generally meant I and the rest of the Groksters looked rather “stuck up” and not able to yak with all of you that came up to events and I had to keep apologizing for not being able to talk. Which, is quite important (and many of you always offered to be Sherpas in getting stuff in and out – God sends!!)

So, engineers either go redneck to solve problems when $$ is an issue or engineer more elegant solutions when finances become less of a constraint. We’ve dealt with the former for years, donations have made it possible to do the latter given what we’ve been growing into.

BUMPED from July 14th: Reminder, the poll closes on Saturday!

As we try to ramp GraniteGrok to the next level, one of the things being contemplated is doing Meetups – instead of you coming here, we Groksters would come out and meet with you folks. Purpose? Just to yak, talk, converse – you know, share a bit of fellowship. So, I’d like to find out IF our loyal readers think this might be a good idea, and if it might be, where should they be held and how often? Completely ad hoc or with a bit of an agenda? Just yak, or as Steve said, perhaps have a “GrokThink!” component (yes, I will keep you in suspense). As always, I read all the comments. But I do want to do a couple of polls after the jump (if I can figure this thingy out as I’ve never used the plugin that Steve has been using lately) so each poll might get adjusted as I correct mistakes.

ANTRIM: Observances at 8:15 a.m. at North Branch Cemetery and 8:45 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery. Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. starting at gym. More at townofbennington.com.

ATKINSON: Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at town hall, goes to Academy and Leroy avenues and Main Street before ending at Dow Common, where a ceremony will be held. More at town-atkinsonnh.com.

BENNINGTON: Observances at 10:45 a.m. at town cemeteries. Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. at the VFW.
