“A nation exists to benefit its own citizens, not citizens of other countries”

Shaheen and Hassan love illegal immigrantsTo The Daily Sun,

Do you want illegal aliens here? James Vervaeke says “we” do (see Laconia Daily Sun, 7/24/18). I, and I suspect most Americans, don’t want them here. No one should be rewarded for breaking our laws, especially when so many illegal aliens harm American citizens and create a burden on American taxpayers. Yes, some illegal aliens come here for a better life, intending to be law-abiding and self-supporting, and work hard to support their families. But there are hundreds of millions of people who want to come here legally with the same intent, so we can and should pick and choose carefully.

A nation exists to benefit its own citizens, not citizens of other countries.

Dem Gubernatorial Candidate Steve Marchand Wants to Make NH A Sanctuary State

Steve MarchandDemocrat Gubernatorial Candidate Steve Marchand has read the fair-trade responsibly sourced liberal tea leaves. Advocating Far-Left ideas wins Democrat primaries. To that end, he’s decided to share his plan for making New Hampshire into a sanctuary state.

Keep in mind that it is the Sanctuary Status of Lawrence, Massachusetts that makes it the epicenter of opioid and human trafficking into New Hampshire.

Tone-deaf, much?

How Long Before Cutlery Stores Are Treated Like Gun Shops?

England took away the guns, so the criminals turned to other tools. Knives have become quite popular among London’s criminals. Their use has made the city a murder capital to rival New York City.

New Hampshire Democrats Demand More Money For A Problem They Don’t Want to Solve

NH Congressional DelegationNew Hampshire is getting another $3.1 Million to combat the opioid crisis. US News is reporting that New Hampshire’s All Gurl Delegation, Democrat x four, says it is not enough.

New Hampshire’s delegation had urged President Donald Trump’s administration to revise the formula used to allocate funding so it prioritizes states like New Hampshire that are hardest hit by the crisis. But that didn’t happen.

This coming from a gaggle of progressive geese with no real interest in solving “the problem.”

California’s Poison Your Friends and Family Plan

Given all I’ve written about MS-13, opioids, and sanctuary cities and states lately, this cartoon boils the California problem down to a national defense issue. We can’t secure the border, address the opioid crisis, or any of the gang violence it perpetuates as long as California is a conduit for drugs, gang members, and the cartels that … Read more

Martin O’Malley Tells New Hampshire Audience Dems Should Run on Gun Control

baltimore-riot-police-carMartin O’Malley was in New Hampshire last week, and he thinks gun control is a winning issue for Democrats even if it hasn’t worked in Maryland, yet.

“It’s hard to measure prevention,” O’Malley said, before laying the blame for increased homicide rates at the feet of the two Baltimore mayors,  Stephanie C. Rawlings-Blake and Catherine Pugh, who were elected after he left the mayor’s office to become governor.

What’s O’Malleys winning formula? Is it the one that has turned Baltimore into the murder capital of the nation?

Democrats and their love affair with prisons….

The Union Leader ran an article today about two felons who have apparently been doing random violent home invasions where the occupants are always beaten and sometimes raped and/or killed. So what is a Democrat’s solution in the comment section after the article? “This is what happens when your state government underfunds prisons….” Sheesh. I responded as follows:

Black Market Bloomberg

smoking - what about the tobacco taxes in New Hampshire

New York City Mayor Mike ‘Big Gulp’ Bloomberg has proposed raising the smoking age in New York City from 18 to 21 years of age.  A companion proposal would hike the price of a pack of cigarettes to more than ten dollars per pack, presumably to a) convince more people to quit and b) recover revenue lost by prohibiting a big chunk of the tax base from paying taxes on cigarettes they are no longer permitted to smoke.

But how does New York’s evil super genius plan to recover the revenue lost to the expansion of the black market?

David Hart inspired my letter to Senator Ayotte

Dear Senator Ayotte,

My letter is inspired by David B. Hart’s letter to you in Friday‘s (April 12, 2013) The Citizen of Laconia. Apparently thinking you were unaware, Hart told you that the Senate will soon consider “common sense limitations on gun violence“, which he apparently thinks would have avoided the Newtown massacre.

The Newtown killer violated dozens of laws, murder, theft, assault, breaking and entering, child endangerment, and many others. Apparently Hart believes that if there had been more laws, the Newtown killer would have thought, “Rats, now I’d be breaking 91 laws and it would be wrong to break more than 88 laws. I guess I’ll have to stay home.”

While that makes no sense to me, Hart is right that we need laws to protect us from one another. We should have laws against harming others, e.g., theft, kidnapping, rape, and murder. Why didn’t anyone think of this before?

Troopers Admit – They Just Want the Money

The New Hampshire Troopers Association and the New Hampshire Police Association agree.

Legalizing casino gambling wouldn’t endanger public safety but would in fact be a boon to law enforcement budgets, New Hampshire state police and police officers argued Monday.

No more crime than adding a large mall.  Troopers are stretched thinn.  There are even plea’s for concern over your loved ones waiting for help at the scene of an accident.  All because Maggie Hassan’s budget relies on 80 million dollars from a revenue source that does not yet exist?

So you people in New Hampshire, you better forget about any other problem gambling might bring with it because there is no other way to pay for more troopers.  Got it.

One more thing.

Story About Leveling Reagan Chicago Apartment For Obama Library – “Utterly Inaccurate”

Obama Library not definitely going to be in chicagoland
Would Obama Library be safer in Beirut?

Maybe you heard the tale?   A Washington Times Communities article (also reported by Newsmax) suggested that the University of Chicago, which owns the Chicago apartment property of former President Ronald Reagan, was planning to demolish it to make way for a parking lot for the Obama Library.  According to the people dedicated to preserving that property, that is not true.

The claim published in Newsmax today and the Washington Times on Friday, re-posted in Drudge, that the University of Chicago is planning to demolish the Reagan home at 832 E. 57th Street to make way for a parking lot for the Obama Presidential Library is utterly inaccurate, according to informed sources in Hyde Park.

Join the UAW! Smoke Dope, Drink Beer While You Work!

“Stupidity combined with arrogance and a huge ego will get you a long way.” Chris Lowe

You can’t make this stuff up! “Whistle Smoke Dope, Drink Beer While you work!” Thirteen UAW auto workers have been reinstated with back pay after being fired when they were caught drinking and smoking dope on break. In my own slice of world, reasonable people agree this rises to the level of workplace misconduct. But not if you are a Union Auto Worker…Clearly, one of the effects of alcohol is pretentiously making one feel, “six foot tall and bullet proof,” but CLEARLY, if one is a UAW Chrysler Auto Worker, that is a literal metaphor.

Marko Kloos: Why The Gun Is Civilization

Marko Kloos wrote this piece in March of 2007. It is worth sharing over and over. Please enjoy….

"Why The Gun Is Civilization" author, Marko Kloos

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

Crime victims: To shoot or not to shoot?

Is This Discrimination?

From the nice folks at Yahoo News, we are asked to consider if screening applicants based on a past criminal record should be considered a form of discrimination? Employers, having a massive advantage in available workers, are coming under scrutiny for what might otherwise go unnoticed if there were not five potential employees for each available job–this according to Yahoo News. With so many people out of work any kind of screening becomes news-worthy. So screening out ex-cons may be discriminatory and a waste of natural resources.
