Governor-Elect Kelly Ayotte is on the record as ready to assist President Trump with the deportation of illegal aliens.
“Part of the way we keep New Hampshire safe is making sure that we have dangerous criminals off our streets. If there are those that are on the terror watch list, they shouldn’t be on our streets or they shouldn’t be in our country,” Ayotte said. ..
Ayotte also reminded Adam Sexton that the president has the authority to call up the National Guard in the case of a National Emergency. What emergency? How about millions of illegal entrants, many of whom are criminals or military-aged men sent to cause mischief? The criminals need to go, and Ayottee has said that’s the first place to start. As for military involvement,
“Well, this is beyond the law enforcement function, Adam. We’ve had open borders, and we know there are people that are coming over those borders that present a danger to the country. So to me, this is a national security issue as well as a basic public safety issue,” Ayotte said.
During Trump’s first term, Governor Sununu famously refused a voluntary request from the Trump administration for National Guard support at the Southern border. Sununu also peddled the left’s separating families, lying in the process. That was Obama, Chris. When Biden was elected, Sununu did a 180, saying, if asked, he’d send NH’s National Guard to the Southern Border. Make of that what you will.
This time around, we’ve got problems on the northern border, too. Sununu was happy to say he’d send the NH Guard that way (and work with other states) after the problem got out of control. This is called leadership.
Ayotte has an opportunity to do better and would never object (IMO) to a request to deploy resources to shore up our border with Canada. But as to the military question – meaning US armed forces, Ayotte sounds like she gets it. “Well, this is beyond the law enforcement function, Adam.”
Ayotte has never been anything close to a MAGA Republican, but MAGA controls the national Party. Her past lack of enthusiasm for Trump still impresses the RINOs and Dems, but they are looking down the barrel of an uninhibited Trump administration preparing to drain as much swamp as they can despite worldwide elite resistance to the plan (though that resistance appears weaker than ever these days). An unwinding of the globalist tentacles, if it can be done alongside a defunding of the institutions that exist to censor America and harass them for just trying to get through a day or speak their mind.
Ayotte has been politely supportive, which we should not mistake for a road to Damascus conversion. She will require the usual amount of citizen input on some issues because the people who funded Sununu backed her. But on deportation, she appears to be on board.
Whether Mr. Trump finds the need to call on the NH Guard of the US Military remains to be seen. Still, like many things the Feds do, once they start (US military as part of domestic policing operations) – even if it seems like a good or necessary reason – they can’t stop. They try to normalize it, and we don’t want that. I feel better about Trump behind that he’ll than Biden, whose administration cleared the way for it in the first place.
