Operation Payback: a “poke in the eye to the budgeting process”

Actually, it is turning out to be more of a slugfest now:  "Another brouhaha in Gilford, this time over use of school budget surplus"; it seems that the School Board’s complaint that the Budget Committee was trying to dictate policy was just a smokescreen.  Here in NH:

GILFORD — Budget Committee member David Horvath is challenging the right of the School Board to spend some of its projected 2010-11 school year surplus on items budgeted for next year.

In an e-mail Horvath sent to Assistant Gilford School Superintendent Scott Isabelle, Horvath challenged the legality of the encumbrance of about $150,000  from this year’s projected surplus.

 

"It is a concern of the BC that none of these items are line items in the 2010- 2011 budget and further that some of these are in the 2011-2012 budget," he wrote noting that fluorescent lights bulbs for the Gilford Elementary School aren’t in either budget and citing RSA 32:5-II of the municipal budget act.

According to the draft minutes of the May 2 School Board meeting, Isabelle recommended spending at total of $169,000 of the projected $500,000 surplus for a tractor and a Zero-Turn mower, replacing some computers with some unexpended heating oil money, refinishing the gymnasium floor from the same heating account, replacing booster pumps from some money in the worker’s compensation line, replacing the SAU office boiler and ceiling from the heating oil account.

All of the above are items included in the 2011-12 operating budget.

Even as the soon to be departed Superintended DiMinico whined about an impending budget problem just a few weeks ago (as the State was not going to be giving the town as much money – golly guys, I’ve only been yelling about this was going to happen for what, three years??), here they are talking about spending on new stuff.  That chest beating now looks like a strictly faux concern for the affected staff that may have to be let go.  Instead, the public is now the happy audience of the happiness of "Hey!  we’re getting a new $40K mower! Oh, not approved for this year? – doesn’t matter; that grass has gotta be cut!". After all, it’s for the children".

Is The Teenage Mother’s Life Really at Risk?

In the 20th century, deaths from complications of pregnancy have dropped from 850 per 100,000 pregnancies in 1900 all the way down to 7.5. That’s quite impressive. What has to annoy liberals is that most of that improvement occurred by 1982 and without unlimited access to “life saving abortions,” and without the state or federal pro-abortion democrats hindering parental consent before they were performed on minors.

HOUSE BILL 474, “An act relative to freedom of choice on whether to join a labor union,” passed out of the house and obtained Senate Concurrence with Amendments. In laymen’s terms, both houses passed the bill.  However, it is important to note that in the House, the bill did not pass with a veto-proof majority. According to the House Bill 474 Roll Call, the Bill passed  225 Yeas and 140 Nays.

A Funding “Solution” For Democrats Concerned about Budget Cuts

THE VETO OF HB 474: “RIGHT TO WORK? NOT SO MUCH…

 CONCORD – Governor Lynch, true to his word vetoed HB 474, the right to work Bill recently passed out of the house and Senate.  Passed out of both the house and Senate, the bill has drawn the ire of the Union Hackarama far and wide. All of the pro-unionists came out in force to pontificate about being against the working men and women of this country; About people who will starve and go hungry; and when the rhetoric and false logic had no effect, They crowded hearing rooms and were disruptive with verbal outbursts. Despite all this bad behavior, rank demagoguery and cursing at lawmakers, the bill passed anyway.

Tom Fahey, Statehouse Bureau Chief for the Union Leader  writes, “Unions see the bill as a move funded by out of state interests to undercut their role in the workplace. (Unions) argue that the measure intrudes in labor-management relations,” in this morning’s UL article,GOP goes after right-to-work opponents.

Juxtapose that against Unions bussing in “volunteers” for Carol Shea-Porter’s campaign from, Lord-knows where; And, the Union interests from all around the country pumping big dollars into local campaigns, those hardly qualify as out-of-state interests? Leave it to Union mouthpieces to complain about the very thing that is not only pro forma for them, but done with absolute shameless impunity.

Governor Lynch and his union cronies, with their Machiavellian Template,  redefine the plain and ordinary meaning of words in the furtherance of their subterfuge. In his press release Governor Lynch chastises, “States should not interfere with the rights of businesses and their employees to freely negotiate contracts. That is unless there is a compelling public interest, and there is no compelling public interest in passing this legislation…” They would have us believe that somehow the veto of this bill is was advocacy for freedom.” Lynch would have us believe job seekers have this “freedom” already in place enabling them to be free from the yoke of the Unions. That is untrue, when an employee has to pay an agency fee to the coffers of the Union. That is essentially joining the Union by proxy.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that a guy (Mr. Obama) who sat in a church for years and years and insists he didn’t hear anything that he didn’t (presumably) want to hear, would be any different towards the American people?
