Where Has The Other Senator Ayotte Gone?

Obama’s war on coal is netting some unusual suspects as supporters.  New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte, who indicates that she has a history of preventing outside meddling with policy of this nature, voted against a resolution that would have overturned the EPA’s utility MACT rule.

Continuing New Hampshire’s tradition of protecting the state’s environment through commonsense policies, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) announced today that she voted against a Senate measure that would weaken national Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) for power plants aimed at reducing emissions of toxic air pollutants such as mercury, arsenic and metals.

There are a lot of things that are bad for us, and even if you agree that the DC should do something, there are other factors to consider–unless you happen to be a stooge for the Democrat party and the Green movement in which case adding to the bureaucracy is always job number one.

This rule will add costs and threaten the coal industry, which just happens to be at the top of President Obama kill list.  It will probably result in job cuts to that sector, increase energy costs for everyone, and add more hoops and administrative costs, all borne by rate payers, in the midst of a stagnant economy, and for what?

So, who IS Obama supposed to be? President? Daddy? Sugar Daddy? Husband? I’m SO confused!

I’m on the email list for “Obama for something” so when I received my very own personalized email (Hey, they know me as  “Friend”) talking about Father’s Day from Caroline Kennedy, I just had to take notice:

Friend —

I grew up in the White House. I remember as a small child visiting my father in the Oval Office while he worked.  But really, we could have been growing up in any American home. We were just children, happy to see our dad — even if he was stepping out of a helicopter that had landed on our front lawn.  That’s why, on Father’s Day, I’m thinking of Michelle Obama and the girls, and the time they’ll get to spend with the President as a family.  I can appreciate how long the days can be — and how wonderful it feels to know that, no matter how full your father’s plate is, you’re the best part of his day and the most important part of his life.  So I’m joining Michelle and others all around the country to wish the President a happy Father’s Day.   As you acknowledge a special father figure in your own life, I hope you’ll join me by adding your name to tell Barack how much he means to all of us:

I’m so confused by the Left – again!  I know what the word “empowerment” means:

  • Free Dictionary: Its modern use originated in the civil rights movement, which sought political empowerment for its followers. The word was then taken up by the women’s movement, and its appeal has not flagged. Since people of all political persuasions have a need for a word that makes their constituents feel that they are or are about to become more in control of their destinies

Why? Because they worry that they may need to fall back on the government for security.”  In fact, a VERY high percentage:  As much as 75 percent of single women vote for Democrats

We support liberty-minded Republicans to encourage a more perfect New Hampshire

Now that the filing period for state elected positions has come to a close, the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire (RLCNH) will begin its evaluation of Republicans running for office to determine if they truly understand what it means to support liberty.

Generally, conservative Republicans—those who have a deep commitment to liberty— will support legislation that advances the principles of limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility and free enterprise, and oppose legislation that violates these standards.

Unfortunately, many Republicans genuinely believe themselves to be “conservative,” but vote against these core principles of liberty when it comes down to the day-to-day job of serving as an elected official. That is precisely why the RLCNH takes so seriously its role of recruiting and supporting Republicans who have a deep understanding of these principles and the fortitude to uphold and defend them.

A liberty-minded Republican is grounded in doing what is right, not what is politically expedient or what has been requested by a lobbyist or an official from another branch of government. The ideal official works for the people by following through on his or her campaign promises and uses his or her judgment to make independent decisions. He or she does not bend to the whim of the media, special interest groups and their e-mail or phone campaigns, or other elected officials.

Most importantly, however, a conservative Republican will always live by the core principle: “first, do no harm.”
