MANCHESTER — The federal government has released 13 undocumented children, who were part of a flood of 57,000 unaccompanied Central American children crossing the southwest border of the United States illegally since last October, to “sponsors” in New Hampshire since Jan. 1, according to the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement.
The revelation was a surprise to state and local officials who said the federal government placed the children without notifying state agencies.
“This is the first I’ve heard of it,” state Senate President Charles “Chuck” Morse, R-Salem, said Friday night. “I’m very concerned about it. We have 13 people show up in New Hampshire we don’t even know are here. It’s not right.”
“This is an issue that is infuriating people,” Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas said Friday night. “How do you just send them without telling anybody?”
You know, the one where Lois Lerner, first at the Federal Elections Committee and then while in the IRS, decided that her Federal Govt positions should be used to target people who simply disagreed with her politically (anyone not a Progressive believing in Bigger Govt was her sworn enemy), knowing that it is all but nigh impossible for the little guy to stand up against the most feared agency in the Federal Government.
She helped weaponize the Govt against at least 40% of the electorate that consider themselves to be conservative. Then, if that was not enough, tried to bring the Dept. of Justice in to criminally prosecute those same Conservatives. It doesn’t help her cause (or the Dems trying to defend her by any means possible).
But try they did – and did not work out all that well, given that the Chair of the Special Committee showed his true prosecutorial skills and just toyed with a law professor they had brought in (video after the jump – I guarantee you, it is not 6 minutes wasted ):
During our second segment of GrokTALK! this morning, we talked with Robin Eubanks: “author of Credentialed to Destroy — Robin S. Eubanks — calls in to update us on state and globally directed education”reform,” what they call competency based education.” We discussed how the impending curriculum of Common Core and newest iteration of CBE really stems from the philosophy of Progressive John Dewey back around 1890s/1900s. That people existed to be “cogs in the machine of society” and education was should to be designed to turn out compliant worker-bees.
Robin, and Grokster Mike, emphasized that such “education” will cut out the heart of the American economy – that “creative destruction” via innovation by those relative few that have the “bright ideas” that drive new products and industries (which history has shown has created a vastly higher standard of living than ever contemplated under planned economies). The question that must be faced from the “new education” is this: if people are trained to be “compliant,” where will the striving be that is such a large component of innovation? What happens to the “few strivers” when striving and risk taking is bred out of us? Katy Perry is ready to be a mom. Who gives a damn, you say, fair enough. But I counter with this. She says (publicly) that she wants to be a mom but “she doesn’t need a dude, it’s the 21st century.”
Her point is that if she wants a baby she can have one, whether there is a father present in that child’s life or not.
Katy Perry is talented, successful, and filthy rich. Good for her. She worked hard, created something people would pay for, and made millions. But many of her fans, or folks who might be inclined to follow her lead when she makes an off the cuff comment like that, are not.
When is this insanity going to end? We find ourselves with yet another New Hampshire Republican office seeker who has donated sums of money to Democrats, buttering both sides of his bread.
A couple weeks ago, I wrote about Gubernatorial candidate Walt Havenstein, donating a ton of money to homesteader-RINOs like Charlie Bass and John McCain, as well as to two Democrats (read here).
Now, we see that Executive Council D-5 candidate (and dear friend of Kelly Ayotte) Steve Hattamer has (and continues) to do the same.
Like Havenstein’s Democrats, these are likely friends or old college buddies of Hattamer. But friend or not – these Democrats do damage to our Republic and there is NO EXCUSE for this type of behavior.
Let’s look at Hattamer’s Democrat contributions….shall we?
Steve has a most important post up today where he brings up that Jeanne Shaheen, regardless of her campaign ads or sound bytes, is not really interested in the people of NH (but gets it very slightly wrong). Emphasis mine, a bit of reformatting:
I can’t say it often enough. We need to elect Senators and congress-people who are less interested in taking credit for getting some fraction of our money back and more interested in making sure it never leaves New Hampshire in the first place. We send them to DC to ensure that we, as a state, have the most opportunity to decide our own destiny, be it roads and bridges, health care, education, property rights, or the defense of our natural rights. But Democrats go to DC to do exactly the opposite. They consistently vote to bring more money through DC, to make more decisions in the US capitol, and to keep our tax dollar running through that offshore-bankrupt District of Columbia instead of in Concord or your home town.
This vote is just one more example of who Democrats like Jeanne Shaheen really represent; lobbyists, politicians, and bureaucrats. Preferably, as far away from us as possible.
Steve is EXACTLY right – the money that is made in NH (which IS earned private property), the wealth that created, should stay in NH and not taken from us. The Founders, with their sense of Federalism that put the States first, would approve of his outlook – me, too. The best control is when local people have it – and not when it is translated to far away. He is right in that Democrats get elected “to make more decisions in the US capitol” than at the State level if elected to the national level. They also do it at the State level – to paraphrase Steve, “to make more decisions in the State capitol, Concord” than at local level if elected to the State level. Correspondingly, it also works at the City or town level than by individual or families make their own decisions.

Skip remarked on my post about Jeanne Shaheen’s Senate vote to keep the gas tax money the feds scoop out of all 50 states in DC, instead of returning it back to the states where it belongs. In those remarks he says he slightly disagrees over who is pulling whose strings….
Where I slightly disagree with him is in the reason why Jeanne Shaheen acts in the manner she does – it is not that Jeanne Shaheen represents “lobbyists, politicians, and bureaucrats” – she merely uses them soley for who (or actually, what) she represents: a “fundamentally transformed” America (look how she “fundamentally transformed healthcare here in NH with promises akin to Obama’s Obamacare ones that turned out radically wrong) they are merely useful idiots; tools, not constituents.
Skip and I do not disagree on the goals of the progressive agenda, its destructive nature, or how to turn things around, but we do appear to disagree in some regard on where or how the power to advance that agenda flows. I think Shaheen is the useful idiot here so I guess I’d better explain why.

Certain doom? Yes, and it’s actually just a very simple calculus.
Some clever politicians, though, have figured out what might be called an end run. One way they can see more money but not technically vote to raise taxes is to get an administrator to “close a loophole” or “clarify the application of the tax.” Both of these things seem reasonable, but both are open to abuse.
A loophole may exist because of an error in language that didn’t capture legislative intent. But more often, the tax was applied to certain things, with other categories intentionally left out. What gets described as a “loophole” is merely an attempt to extend the tax to things the original law was not meant to tax.
Charlie’s larger point is that this is not how it should be done, but that it is neither new nor necessarily nefarious.
Would that make it politics as usual? And as an afterthought, how many instances of this sort of bureaucratic end-arounding have occurred under the willful guidance of Democrat Governors?

(July 30, 2014) – As Congress heads towards its August recess, now is typically the time of year when Members of Congress should be announcing their Town Hall meeting schedule. However, instead of alerting the public of her ‘first-ever’ Town Hall meeting, on Tuesday, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced her ‘first-ever’ “What Does Your Granite State Look Like” photo contest. In response to unveiling the photo contest on her Facebook page, Congresswoman Kuster’s constituents responded with critical comments calling on her to finally hold a public forum.
Congresswoman Kuster’s office has not hosted a single Town Hall meeting during her first term in Congress.
…devolve(d) the federal highway program to the states, allowing them to keep the vast majority of their gas tax revenues and to make their own transportation infrastructure decisions.
No one who truly believes in limited government would oppose this amendment.
I’d add “anyone with a belief in the benefits of local government and local control” as well.
