As we have been watching, the culmination of the Frankfurt School efforts has intersected with the elementary Ed crowd’s “show up trophy and self-esteem-o-rama” and the landing pads of helicopter parents (will SOMEBODY please stick a stick into that rearward prop??). This from Powerline’s Ammo Grrrll seemed sufficiently cogent in summarizing how to salve their ills and self-absorbtion (emphasis mine):
Since Thanksgiving was yesterday, let me enumerate just a few of the blessings that have been mine, living even as I do way off to the margins: two loving parents; good health; a wicked-smart, adoring husband; wonderful, loyal, funny friends; a beautiful son; the chance to travel all over this great land for three decades plying a successful comedic trade; and, of course, this awesome country and its heady freedom and unlimited opportunity.
Pretty much like the rest of us if we only truly looked up our lives. While reality says that not everything is rose colored glasses, it is how we specifically decide to see things that matters muchly – but it seems that many of these overly esteemed, generally socioeconomically “privileged”, overly important, and severely lacking in a sense of history, logic reasoning, and perspective young’un full of themselves (and obviously, unable to look at themselves in a mirror) have forgotten something quite important:
