OK, so this is back from May but from what we have seen throughout the year is the same attitude: “WE should be in charge – how DARE you take it away from us!  Therefore, we will act like spoiled brats”.  In other words – sore losers and this former gay Act Up guy from HuffPo (right after Trump fired Comey – yep, trying once again to undo my stack) is a great example of this (reformatted, emphasis mine):

It’s time to move beyond polite protests within specified boundaries. It’s time to escalate the expression of our outrage and our anger in a massive way. Starting today and from here on, no elected official – certainly those in the GOP defending and supporting Trump on a variety of issues, for example – should be able to sit down for a nice, quiet lunch or dinner in a Washington, DC eatery or even in their own homes. They should be hounded by protesters everywhere, especially in public – in restaurants, in shopping centers, in their districts, and yes, on the public property outside their homes and apartments, in Washington and back in their home states.

Nice guy this sore loser.  Infantile in that if he can’t get what he believes to be rightfully his, act like a simpering tantrum-throwing two-year-old.

In a staff editorial today the Union Leader points out how a series of bills promoted as tax cuts (by Democrats) aren’t tax cuts at all; which is why some Republicans are voting against them.

The Democratic approach would be to keep tax rates high, but carve out ways for taxpayers to avoid them. SB 75 would give tax credits for donations to career and technical education centers.

Of the non-denominational variety, we presume?

The Concord Fishwrap has a piece from the AP on the tax package going through Congress right now with the loaded title: “Tax Package would lower top tax rate for wealthy Americans.” As if that’s all it does.  Not that I am surprised – the CM is always the Progressive mouthpiece for Marxist class warfare (do wonder what the Publisher pulls down – most likely part of the 1%, but no matter – breaking eggs, omelets and all that).  Here’s the line that caught my eye.

Isn’t it long past time that New Hampshire ended blatant discrimination against Catholics in our state?

After the great Irish potato famine in the mid-1800’s, America experienced a large wave of Irish immigrants, many of whom were Catholics.   Some politicians wanted to prevent any public support of Catholic institutions and thus attempted, unsuccessfully, to amend the US Constitution to prohibit any public money being sent to Catholic institutions, even though they were not specifically named.  But everyone knew which group was being targeted for discrimination.

Although not all Catholics are Irish, most Irish are Catholics.  And I am old enough to remember my father telling me that John Kennedy could never be elected president of the US because he was Catholic.  He was also astute enough to opine that Nelson Rockefeller could never be president since he had been divorced.  I also remember seeing in antique shops old help wanted signs reading “Help Wanted – No Irish Need Apply” that appeared to be in common use many years ago.

If a contractor did a good job for you but a bad job for your neighbor would you force your neighbor to keep rehiring the same contractor? Would you tell your neighbor to hire a second contractor to follow the first and fix the first contractor’s poor work? No.

But this is what happens with children’s education. Many public schools fail to provide a good educational opportunity to all students. And parents have to make up for public school deficiencies if they can.

GraniteGrok has a long history of battling the anti-smoking data monkeys. Their numbers often make no sense or contradict the real-world evidence or just common sense. Today is no different.

The focus of a recent report appears to be almost entirely on, not results or eventual outcomes but on investing in prevention programs based on CDC guidelines; and more specifically, how much of your tobacco settlement money you spend on “prevention.”

According to this report, from Tobacco-Free Kids, New Hampshire ranks 47th for protecting kids from smoking while in contrast, the state of Alaska ranks second best.

Contrast? Sure. The contrast is all about money. At least that’s how it looks.

New Hampshire spent $125,000.00 on tobacco prevention in 2017. Alaska spent 9,493,500.00 (9.5 million). And taken in a vacuum, without any other considerations to health overall welfare of children, the side-by-side numbers look like this.

If we’re talking about the headlines, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free kids pumped this gem up on a national newswire about their report: National Report: New Hampshire Ranks 47th in Protecting Kids from Tobacco.
