A year ago the FCC “deregulated” the Internet. It was only “regulated” for two years (too many) but the regulators prophesied doom. Well, after a fashion, they were right. Doom has befallen their narrative. ISP’s would crank down the screws? Your connection speeds would crawl?

Last week a panel investigating the Parkland massacre suggesting arming teachers. Today, President Trump’s commission on school safety said the same thing. Arm more school personnel. Adults trained to store, carry, handle, and use firearms. With one caveat.

The US District Court for the Southern District of Florida is one of the busier federal trial courts in the country, and it is not unusual for civil cases filed in that Court to take over a year to come to trial because of the limited judicial resources and the necessity of giving priority to criminal cases under the Speedy Trial Rule so that criminal defendants get simply to walk away from their charges because of trial delays.
I am a long time member of the Bar of that Court and have handled some cases in that Court, which seems to be always chronically undermanned (or under-woman-ed as the case may be).
There is a disgraceful situation with respect to an appointment of a Judge to that Court that has been going on too long,
For many, especially the young, discovering a new meaning in the midst of the fallen world is thrilling. And social-justice ideology does everything a religion should. It offers an account of the whole: that human life and society and any kind of truth must be seen entirely as a function of social power structures, in which various groups have spent all of human existence oppressing other groups. And it provides a set of practices to resist and reverse this interlocking web of oppression — from regulating the workplace and policing the classroom to checking your own sin and even seeking to control language itself. I think of non-PC gaffes as the equivalent of old swear words. Like the puritans who were agape when someone said “goddamn,” the new faithful are scandalized when someone says something “problematic.” Another commonality of the zealot then and now: humorlessness.
In that fateful White House meeting where Trump refused to let the cameras leave, it became clear that the Democrat Leadership won’t give up their Open Border mentality. Trump just made them bear their souls (heh!). (H/T: Powerline)

To Democrats, everything should be subject to taxation including free speech. California has plans to tax text messaging according to the Bay Area’s Mercury News. The specifics of tax collection are unclear. The likelihood being the tax will be applied as a flat tax with regulators saying it “could be applied retroactively for five years.” This could also mean higher cellular service charges.
