Reminder: We Don’t Have What it Takes to ‘Go Green’

Walking road green energy commuting

The Left’s all-in or nothing attitude about net-zero is one of their more disingenuous screeds. They’re ranting like lunatics and making more promises than a used Electric Vehicle car salesman with no car to sell you. IN other words, what they say, can’t be done.

There is not enough time, money, or resources. America literally does not have what it takes to achieve even a fraction of its not-so-green ambition.

Chill your nuggets Enviro-whacks. You know it to be true.

You know that the wind-solar- to battery fantasy is a filthy anti-environmental nightmare. It’s mining intensive, human-rights violating, dirty, nasty, manufacturing heavy, emissions-emitting disaster that can never overcome the carbon cost even if we had the stiff to do it.

So, what the hell is it if it is not green and not attainable – and in no imagining affordable. It’s all those things. A deliberate shift away from affordable, convenient, accessible transportation.

Think COVID lockdown for human mobility.

Remember the Green New Deal? Massive cuts to what? Your comfort and mobility. Not theirs. John Kerry reminded us of that last year. The Green Tzar was very clear. He had to use private planes or whatever means were necessary to do his job, which was to emit more carbon than a small town full of struggling families to pursue what could not be achieved.

Or maybe a better way to put that is to achieve what can. The two-class America is what they are after, and their energy – and in particular transportation – the policy will make that real. Them and us and being us will suck because very little of what we need hydrocarbon fuels for can be replaced by the so-called green technology. And if it could, it would be too expensive and difficult to get.

Ronald Stein at CFACT offers up a few reminders (which we’ve covered in various forms on these pages in the past).

A recent report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) notes: “A typical electric car requires six times the mineral inputs of a conventional car and an onshore wind plant requires nine times more mineral resources than a gas-fired plant.”

  • Nickel: A major component of the EV batteries, is found just below the topsoil in the Rainforests of Indonesia and the Philippines. As a result, the nickel is extracted using horizontal surface mining that results in extensive environmental degradation: deforestation and removal of the top layer of soil.
  • Lithium: Over half of the world’s Lithium reserves are found in three South American countries that border the Andes Mountains: Chile, Argentina and Bolivia. These countries are collectively known as the “Lithium Triangle”.
  • Cobalt: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) produces 70% of the world’s Cobalt. While there is no shortage of environmental issues with its Cobalt mining, the overriding problem here is human rights: dangerous working conditions and the use of child labor. Cobalt is a toxic metal. Prolonged exposure and inhalation of Cobalt dust can lead to health issues of the eyes, skin, and lungs.
  • Copper: Chile is the leading producer of the world’s Copper. Most of the Chile’s Copper comes from open pit/strip mines. This type of mining negatively affects vegetation, topsoil, wildlife habitats, and groundwater. The next three largest producers of copper are Peru, China, and the infamous Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Russia is also a major source of rare-earth metals, as is China, and not just in China.

The Green movement is just more Left-Wing Enemy Dependency Syndrome – the same way they like us regarding fossil fuels. Instead of Make America Great Again, it’s Make America Wait Again. We’re not going to be at the top of their list for deliveries, and the price will be high if we can get it at all.

We have oil and gas and coal (and nuclear). We do not have the rare metals to achieve the fake green dream or the pockets.

Current prices for these meals have skyrocketed, putting the EV net-zero fantasy further for reach for most of America – and that’s the point.

It’s not about the planet. The green agenda never was. It’s COVID level fearmongering to divide us, not by race, color, sex, or religion – but by have and can’t have.

It is a full-blown policy commitment to what cannot be achieved unless the real goal is to destroy mobility and human liberty at the expense of the people and the planet.

Which it is.
