A bit of a continuation of my previous post, lamenting that Romney’s Comms Director, Tommy Schultz, couldn’t answer my question.  So, I went to the Romney site, Issues, Immigration to see what he had to say relative to my question:

Voting – no ID required. So, what will it be for Obama’s Durham’s event on Monday?

“So, NH Democrat Chair Ray Buckley, are you going to stand up against the racist, class warfare attempt by the Obama Campaign to disenfranchise New Hampshire supporters?”

No word back from the Obama Campaign Staff about whether or not they are going to pay Durham’s asking price for supplying security for Monday’s event (for the campaign that raised the most money ever in 2008, $30K should be chump change, right).  So I decided to stroll on over to the NH Democrat Party to see if they had any info.  Well, not so much.

As you can see, I checked their home page – it had hardly anything.  What you see is what they had.  Pretty much – bupkis.

You know, even though his Cabinet members have been here, and his wife too, I would have thought it would have been a Real. Big. Deal!

 

So, I decided to go to their calender:

One of the biggest political events, campaign wise, for the NH Democrats, and they can’t even see fit to put President Obama on their schedule?  Boy, it seems not a heck of a lot love for the Big Guy?  Is your Press Secretary Colin Gately who kinda forgot all about the President coming inbound?

Seems to be catching – even Democrats incumbents are running away from Obama (et tu, Ray?) (The Hill via GateWay Pundit):

This graphic was at the front page of the NH Democrat Party website.  As part of trying to find out if the NH Dems were going to be consistent with insisting that NH Supporters should not have to present ID to get into Obama’s Durham event, given that they do not support presenting IDs for voting.

A curious thing – I followed the Please contact your local OFA-NH Office here and there were a bunch of offices listed across the state.  Like this one for Concord:   

 

 

Well, I looked at the email address and saw the domain name: OFANH.COM.  I didn’t think much of it, but being the curious kind, I decided to go visit the site, OFANH.COM.

So much Deception So Little Time

Skip is clearly on to something here.  Following his lead on the absence of an actual ofanh.com web site (even though all the local office email is tied to the fictitious ofanh.com)  I went on a digital  scavenger hunt.

Our neighbors to the south don’t have an ofama.com but they do have an ofama.org.  It hasn’t been updated since the year before HealthCare reform was forced into law.  But it does have a link to massforchange.org.  That leads to a Japanese site whose English translation makes it appear to be designed to help female sex workers find jobs.  (I guess that’s close enough.)

Why is it so hard to get a simple answer to a simple question; has NH Romney Victory Fund Communication Director Tommy Schultz been taking lessons from Jay Carney?

“Tell me, anyone see an answer to my original question in there?  Does anyone see a promise in there to the question I asked?  Does anyone see ANYTHING in there on illegal alien amnesty, the original topic?…This is like a Bible preaching Pastor given a zoning ordinance to influence what he preaches from his pulpit.”

We get campaign folks reaching out to us all the time – in the last few years the New Media has become more important in shaping and reporting on the news.  Certainly to the latter, we try to get off the proverbial couch and get out to the local events and provide coverage (part of our citizen journalism here at the ‘Grok).  To the latter, I still think that I like Jon Henke’s description of political bloggers and the advice he gives to politicians in dealing with bloggers (paraphased):

“Bloggers are like Pastors with a flock in their church.  That Pastor has sole control of that pulpit and does influence all those that come to listen to him make pronouncements and giving opinions that they will listen to.  Why?  They keep coming back, Sunday after Sunday, to listen for more.  They have learned to take those words and evaluate them for truthfulness; the fact that they keep coming back means they have vetted  those words.

So too with bloggers – they are not your followers and they are not your staffers.  Yes, they make like (or tolerate) you, but their first calling is to their readership and their independence.  They are the gatekeepers to the folks you are trying to reach.  Approach them as you would a Pastor –  or you may not like the result.”

Tommy Schultz, the NH Romney Victory Fund Communications Director (and yes, that is how he signs his emails; I asked if he wanted to be called Tom, Tommy or something else – he said Tommy) should have been given that advice before he called me.  He also should have listened better when I told him:

Where Has The Other Senator Ayotte Gone?

Obama’s war on coal is netting some unusual suspects as supporters.  New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte, who indicates that she has a history of preventing outside meddling with policy of this nature, voted against a resolution that would have overturned the EPA’s utility MACT rule.

Continuing New Hampshire’s tradition of protecting the state’s environment through commonsense policies, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) announced today that she voted against a Senate measure that would weaken national Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) for power plants aimed at reducing emissions of toxic air pollutants such as mercury, arsenic and metals.

There are a lot of things that are bad for us, and even if you agree that the DC should do something, there are other factors to consider–unless you happen to be a stooge for the Democrat party and the Green movement in which case adding to the bureaucracy is always job number one.

This rule will add costs and threaten the coal industry, which just happens to be at the top of President Obama kill list.  It will probably result in job cuts to that sector, increase energy costs for everyone, and add more hoops and administrative costs, all borne by rate payers, in the midst of a stagnant economy, and for what?

Obama is coming to Oyster River High School in Durham, NH at 12:00 PM. Will he be discounted “50% off” like he is in Georgia on Tuesday?

UPDATE and bumped:  turns out that the Obama Durham is free to attendees.  But like everything else in life, there IS no free lunch.  Union Leader:

DURHAM — Leave has been cancelled for all Durham police officers for Monday as the town prepares for a visit from President Barack Obama.

Town officials say, like any community, they open their arms to a visit from the President, but they are concerned about who will pay for the additional town personnel needed to handle his campaign stop at Oyster River High School.

A Presidential visit typically costs the town of Durham between $16,000 and $20,000, Selig said, as it requires road closures, accommodating a large motorcade, significant preparations and a significant police presence.

So, will the Obamessiah take the tithe out of his own plate, or consider it a donation from the Liberal Church of Durham?  What say you, Campaign Staff?

Just got word that Obama will be here in NH on Monday at the High School.  Rumor has it (on good authority) that some folks will be there to greet him (like back in August of 2009) for a fund raiser.

He may have a problem if the situation for Monday for ticket sales is like that in Georgia (for a similar type of event).  From Peach (as in Georgia Peach) Pundit:
